Decapod crustaceans are relatively widespread in Jurassic deposits of Europe and a small number have been collected from the north-east of France. A new fossil of a macrurous decapod assigned to Eryma burgundiaca sp. nov., an erymid lobster, is described from this area and comparisons are made with closely allied species from Europe. Probable pagurid anomurous decapods are represented by Orhomalus magnificus sp. nov., Palaeopagurus acutus sp. nov. and Palaeopagurus neraudeaui sp. nov. No brachyurous decapods are presently known from the fauna. Based on the associated ammonites, the material is considered to be Callovian in age.  相似文献

We report here a role of B cell stimulatory factor 1 (BSF-1) in the induction of antigen-specific proliferation of affinity-purified small B lymphocytes by a thymus-dependent antigen and a carrier-reactive T cell line. By using an ovalbumin-reactive T cell line (designated Hen-1), which does not produce BSF-1 following activation, it was possible to demonstrate that the antigen-specific proliferative response of trinitrophenyl (TNP)-binding B cells to TNP-ovalbumin required exogenous BSF-1 in addition to direct interaction with irradiated Hen-1 T cells. The activation obtained under these conditions was highly efficient, being sensitive to antigen doses as low as 0.001 microgram/ml. The addition of saturating amounts of BSF-1 did not alter the antigen-specificity or the requirements for hapten-carrier linkage or major histocompatibility complex-restricted T-B interaction in this system. The involvement of BSF-1 was confirmed by the ability of 11B11 anti-BSF-1 antibody to specifically suppress the response of TNP-binding B cells to TNP-ovalbumin, BSF-1, and irradiated Hen-1 T cells. Finally, this response was augmented by addition of the monokine interleukin 1. These data indicate that the proliferative response of small B cells to the thymus-dependent antigen and carrier-reactive T cell line used in our experiments can be regulated by the same factors that govern B cell proliferation induced by thymus-independent type 2 antigens or anti-IgM antibodies.  相似文献

The regional distribution of [3H]zolpidem, a novel imidazopyridine hypnotic possessing preferential affinity for the BZD1 (benzodiazepine subtype 1) receptor, has been studied autoradiographically in the rat CNS and compared with that of [3H]flunitrazepam. The binding of [3H]zolpidem to rat brain sections was saturable, specific, reversible, and of high affinity (KD = 6.4 nM). It occurred at a single population of sites whose pharmacological characteristics were similar to those of the benzodiazepine receptors labeled with [3H]flunitrazepam. However, ethyl-beta-carboline-3-carboxylate and CL 218,872 were more potent displacers of [3H]zolpidem than of [3H]flunitrazepam. The autoradiographic brain distribution of [3H]zolpidem binding sites was qualitatively similar to that previously reported for benzodiazepine receptors. The highest levels of [3H]-zolpidem binding sites occurred in the olfactory bulb (glomerular layer), inferior colliculus, ventral pallidum, nucleus of the diagonal band of Broca, cerebral cortex (layer IV), medial septum, islands of Calleja, subthalamic nucleus, and substantia nigra pars reticulata, whereas the lowest densities were found in parts of the thalamus, pons, and medulla. Comparative quantitative autoradiographic analysis of the binding of [3H]zolpidem and [3H]flunitrazepam [a mixed BZD1/BZD2 (benzodiazepine subtype 2) receptor agonist] in the CNS revealed that the relative density of both 3H-labeled ligands differed in several brain areas. Similar levels of binding for both ligands were found in brain regions enriched in BZD1 receptors, e.g., substantia nigra pars reticulata, inferior colliculus, cerebellum, and cerebral cortex lamina IV. The levels of [3H]zolpidem binding were five times lower than those of [3H]flunitrazepam binding in those brain regions enriched in BZD2 receptors, e.g., nucleus accumbens, dentate gyrus, and striatum. Moreover, [3H]zolpidem binding was undetectable in the spinal cord (which contains predominantly BZD2 receptors). Finally, like CL 218,872 and ethyl-beta-carboline-3-carboxylate, zolpidem was a more potent displacer of [3H]flunitrazepam binding in brain regions enriched in BZD1 receptors than in brain areas enriched in BZD2 receptors. The present data add further support to the view that zolpidem, although structurally unrelated to the benzodiazepines, binds to the benzodiazepine receptor and possesses selectivity for the BZD1 receptor subtype.  相似文献

The G antigen is one of the erythrocyte membrane Rh antigens. The amount of Rh antigen present on the red blood cell is about 10(-15) g and radioactive labeling of membrane proteins is a useful method for its identification and characterization. In this paper, we compare 4 labeling techniques. Using a human monoclonal anti-Rh(G) antibody and an immunofixation technique, we located the G antigen on a polypeptide of an average molecular weight of 28,000 Da.  相似文献

Summary Streptozotocin treatment at birth induces, in the pancreas of rats, first depletion of insulin and thyrotropin-releasing hormone and then early regeneration of cells and insulin, but not TRH. This study was undertaken to investigate whether the reduction in pancreatic TRH content can be associated with changes in the intensity and the distribution of TRH-immunoreactivity, and to follow the pattern of regeneration of cells through insulin- and TRH-immunoreactivity.In control animals, strong TRH-immunoreactivity was seen in insulin-containing cells on days 1–4 after birth. At day 7, the TRH-immunoreactivity was already decreased. In contrast, insulin-immunoreactivity was present throughout the neonatal period. A sparse population of cells near ducts also contained both TRH- and insulin-immunoreactivity at 1–2 days age.In streptozotocin-treated animals, TRH-immunoreactivity is found only in a few scattered insulin-containing cells in altered islets on days 1–4. Near the ducts, there were new insulin-containing cells which did not contain TRH. From day 7 regeneration of endocrine cells was characterized by new, typical islets, but these contained insulin-, but not TRH-immunoreactivity. These findings suggest a differential control of the biosynthesis of insulin and TRH within the pancreas.  相似文献

Based on nucleotide sequence determination, we have identified two new yeast genes FUN80 and FUN81 located on chromosome XIII. They are both essential for cellular growth but their function is still unknown. FUN80 is closely linked to the ARGRI (or ARG80) gene while FUN81 is located next to the ARGRII (or ARG81) gene. Interestingly, the proteins encoded by these two genes have a long stretch of acidic amino acids within their C-terminal portions.  相似文献

Summary Spontaneous mutants of Escherichia coli K12 displaying an increased level of the kanamycin resistance conferred by plasmid pGR71 were selected. Several mutants obtained in this way apparently carry large chromosomal deletions extending into galU and/or bglY (27 min). This positive selection of deletions allowed detection of a new locus located between galU and bglY. Deletions of this locus are responsible for increased resistance to kanamycin (Irk), decreased resistance to l-serine in minimal medium (Drs) and decreased resistance to chloramphenicol (Drc) when a cat gene is present in the bacteria.  相似文献
