Genetic factors controlling the susceptibility to experimental autoimmune thyroiditis in inbred rat strains 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
CDF (high responder) rats were crossed with SHR (low responder) rats to study genetic factors influencing susceptibility to experimental autoimmune thyroiditis (EAT). F1 hybrid rats showed intermediate susceptibility to thyroiditis. Gene segregation patterns of F2 and backcross rats demonstrated that the immune response to rat thyroglobulin (RaTg) is under polygenic control. A main factor controlling immune response to RaTg is associated with the X chromosome. Females of CDF and SHR rats produced higher levels of antibody, suggesting that antibody production to RaTg is a sex-influenced trait. Different genetic control mechanisms are evident in autoantibody production and thyroid lesions. No evidence of linkage of an immune response gene to RaTg to the major histocompatibility complex of the rat (RT1) was observed. 相似文献

14C-labeled extracellular organic carbon (EOC) released by the phytoplankton in a Danish Estuary was shown immediately to form particles (>0.2m) when the products were added to a natural water sample. About 14%–20% of the added activity could be recovered as particles. Any bacterial assimilation of the extracellular products was thus masked. The abiotic origin of the particulate EOC was verified, and it was shown that the particle formation was due to some factors present in the estuarine water with a nominal diameter >0.2m. The physiological adaptation to anemia and other hypoxic states includes an increase in the level of 2,3-bisphosphoglycerate (2,3-DPG) in the red cell. We suggest that the high level of 2,3-DPG may have adverse effects in vivo. It has been found that red cells incubated with glycolate lose 2,3-DPG at a rapid rate relative to controls. ATP is stable. Net 2,3-DPG synthesis is observed after the glycolate is removed from the cells suggesting that they are not harmed. The effect appears to be specific for glycolate since lactate, glyoxylate, glycerate, acetate, and citrate were without effect. This procedure could be used to assess the effects of decreasing the 2,3-DPG level to normal in the erythrocytes of sickle cell and other anemias. 相似文献

We examined spleen cells from newborn to 1-month-old rabbits for easily detectable surface immunoglobulin, complement receptors, and for in vitro proliferative responsiveness to anti-immunoglobulin antisera and several mitogens. From birth through the first month of life about 15% of the cells from rabbit spleens had easily detectable surface immunoglobulin while about 45% had C3 receptors. In adults as many as 77% of the spleen cells had easily detectable surface Ig but the proportion with C3 receptors remained about 45%. The proliferative response to anti-allotype antisera was present at birth, and was at adult levels by 1 month of age. The proliferative response to pokeweed mitogen was low when cells were obtained during the first week of life but was comparable in magnitude to the response of adult cells by 2 weeks of age. In vitro responsiveness to concanavalin A was present at low levels at birth and increased sharply during the first week. We did not observe significant stimulation of spleen cells from neonatal to 4-week-old rabbits by lipopolysaccharide from Salmonella typhosa. Our data suggest that lymphocyte surface markers and functional responses appear asynchronously in spleen cells of developing rabbits. 相似文献

Hormonal responses to graded exercise of eight low altitude residents were examined at sea level (SL) and after 1 (acute) and 11 (chronic) days at 4,300 m (HA). Caloric, water, and electrolyte intakes were controlled, as were temperature and humidity. Blood was sampled at rest and during light and moderate upright bicycle exercise (20 min at 40% and 75% of maximal O2 uptake, respectively). Mean VO2 max at HA was 27% lower than at SL. Resting plasma levels of aldosterone (Aldo), renin, and angiotensin II (A II) were significantly lower (P smaller than 0.05) on day 1 at HA compared to SL, but returned to SL values by day 11. Plasma cortisol values at rest were similar at SL and HA and were not significantly altered by light or moderate exercise. Renin, A II, and Aldo rose progressively with increasing workload in each environment. With acute HA, renin and Aldo were lower than at either SL or chronic HA. The chronic HA levels tended to approximate SL findings, implying adaptation. The data suggest that aldosterone is predominantly under the control of the renin-angiotensin system during graded exercise at sea level and that the response of this system is altered on acute high-altitude exposure. 相似文献

Uptake of orthophosphate and deposition of condensed phosphate were investigated in cells of Synechococcus sp. (Anacystis nidulans) deficient in phosphorus or sulfur. When phosphorus was restored to phosphorus-starved cells, uptake was rapid and immediate, with the greatest accumulation occurring within the first hour. Uptake was optimum in the pH 7.5–8.5 range. Long-term (6-day) studies of uptake and deposition with cells exposed to a wide range of sulfur deficiency showed that both processes were greatest when the level of exogenous sulfur was reduced to zero. The increase in cellular phosphorus as determined chemically was in agreement with the increased number and size of polyphosphate bodies at the ultrastructural level. Possible mechanisms for the control of phosphorus uptake and condensed phosphate formation by exogenous sulfur are discussed. 相似文献
