The activities of adenosylhomocysteinase (EC 3.3.1.1) and adenosine nucleosidase (EC 3.2.2.7) were assayed in extracts from yellow lupin (Lupinus luteus L.) cotyledons at different stages of seed formation and seedling development. Adenosylhomocysteinase activity was demonstrated in all the cotyledon extracts examined. Its lowest level was found in the dry seeds and the highest, in 4-day-old seedling cotyledons. Extracts from the cotyledons of maturating seeds, dry seeds, and seedlings up to the second day of growth exhibited no adenosine nucleosidase activity. Adenosine nucleosidase activity appeared in the cotyledons of 2-day-old seedlings and its highest level was reached in 4-to 5-day-old seedlings. There is no inhibitor of adenosine nucleosidase in the maturating and dry yellow lupin seeds. No activator of a possible zymogen form of adenosine nucleosidase from maturating or dry seeds occurs in the growing seedlings. 相似文献

Survival and induction of DNA double-strand breaks were studied in cells of Saccharomyces cerevisiae irradiated under oxic or anoxic conditions with 30 MeV electrons. A linear relationship between DNA double-strand breakage and dose was found in both cases. The o.e.r.-value for colony forming ability was found to be 1.9 +/- 0.2, whereas the o.e.r.-value for DNA double-strand breakage was 3.0 +/- 0.1. These results are not inconsistent with the idea that DNA double-strand breaks are involved in killing of yeast cells. The frequency of induction of DNA double-strand breaks was found to be 0.74 x 10(-11) double-strand breaks per g/mol per Gy when cells were irradiated under oxygen and 0.24 x 10(-11) double-strand breaks per g/mol per Gy under nitrogen. 相似文献

Macrofungal communities were investigated in four associations of xerothermic swards: Festucetum pallentis, Origano-Brachypodietum, Adonido-Brachypodietum pinnati and Diantho-Armerietum elongatae in a Jurassic area of the Częstochowa Upland (southern Poland). A total of 47 species were recorded. The self-organising
map (SOM)—an unsupervised algorithm for artificial neural networks—was used to recognise patterns in the macrofungal communities
of diverse xerothermic swards. Only two associations were mycologically similar: Origano-Brachypodietum and Adonido-Brachypodietum pinnati. Species with high and significant IndVal (the species indicator value) for each investigated phytocoenoses are presented.
The presence of macrofungal species and the participation of indicator species were connected with habitat factors of plant
associations, as documented by the IndVal application. In the least fertile phytocoenoses, macrofungal communities were poor
with few indicator species. The more fertile phytocoenoses had richer and more varied communities of macrofungi with higher
numbers of indicator species. The ordering methods applied in this study were very effective for analyzing the macrofungal

One of the most common pathogens among yeasts is Candida albicans, which presents a serious health threat. The study aimed to check the antifungal properties of trans-anethole and eugenol with selected antifungal medicines (AMs) against C. albicans clinical isolates. The checkerboard method was used to tests of interactions between these compounds. Achieved results indicated that eugenol showed synergistic and additive activities with miconazole and econazole against investigated clinical isolates, respectively. Moreover, the combination – trans-anethole – miconazole also showed an additive effect against two clinical isolate. We tried to relate the results to changes in C. albicans cell sheaths under the influence of essential oils compounds (EOCs) performing the Fourier transform infrared spectra analysis to confirm the presence of particular chemical moieties in C. albicans cells. Nevertheless, no strong relationships was observed between synergistic and additive actions of used EOC-AMs combinations and chemical moieties in C. albicans cells. 相似文献
