The interhemisphere interaction of neurons in bilateral derivations from parietal and sensomotor areas of neocortex and the area CA1 of hippocampus were studied in rabbits with active and passive behavioural strategy in the open field by plotting histograms of crosscorrelation. In passive animals, there was asymmetry in bilateral neuronal interaction: with right-sided dominance in the neocortex and with left-sided that--in the hippocampus. On the contrary, in active rabbits, the left-sided dominance was observed in the neocortex, and the lateralization was not revealed in the hippocampus. The brain laterality was reflected in motor asymmetry of animals in preferring left or right turns in the open field. Passive rabbits made relatively more left turns, and the active animals--right turns. Systemic administration of agonist GABA(B) receptors phenibut decreased behavioural responses to emotional stimuli and eliminated interhemisphere asymmetry observed usually in negative emotional situations. Thus the interhemisphere asymmetry of the neocortex and hippocampus is correlated with individual typological characteristics of animals and reflects the readiness to preferential forms of behavioural responses in active and passive rabbits.  相似文献

The squirrel glider Petaurus norfolcensis occurs across a broad Australian latitudinal range that includes gaps in distribution and potential biogeographic barriers, creating the potential for evolution of distinct entities within this species. Because of the species’ threatened status in the southern part of its range, we tested for the presence of geographically based independent evolutionary units among gliders sampled from southern, and northern coastal populations, using sequences of mitochondrial cytochrome b DNA (mtDNA) and a set of five nuclear microsatellites in 258 individuals. Our analyses suggest that an initial northward colonisation in the early- to mid-Pleistocene was followed by isolation by distance and, eventually, divergence between the sampled coastal and southern populations in the mid- to late-Pleistocene. We propose that the previously large and diverse southern populations have declined coincidentally with the replacement of wet forests by open sclerophyll woodlands during the preceding few million years. By contrast coastal populations further north appear to have been expanding and at present have an effective population size several times greater than southern populations. These results suggest that the two forms are on different evolutionary trajectories and should be treated separately for conservation purposes. It is highly desirable that loss of southern populations be prevented to maintain the unique genetic diversity accumulated over a considerable evolutionary timescale.  相似文献

Divergence of ecological niches in phylogenetically closely related species indicates the importance of ecology in speciation, especially for sympatric species are considered. Such ecological diversification provides an advantage of alleviating interspecies competition and promotes more efficient exploitation of environmental resources, thus being a basis for ecological speciation. We analyzed a group of closely related species from the subgenus Neritrema (genus Littorina, Caenogastropoda) from the gravel‐bouldery shores. In two distant sites at the Barents and Norwegian Sea, we examined the patterns of snail distribution during low tide (quantitative sampling stratified by intertidal level, presence of macrophytes, macrophyte species, and position on them), shell shape and its variability (geometric morphometrics), and metabolic characteristics (metabolomic profiling). The studied species diversified microbiotopes, which imply an important role of ecological specification in the recent evolution of this group. The only exception to this trend was the species pair L. arcana / L. saxatilis, which is specifically discussed. The ecological divergence was accompanied by differences in shell shape and metabolomic characteristics. Significant differences were found between L. obtusata versus L. fabalis and L. saxatilis / L. arcana versus L. compressa both in shell morphology and in metabolomes. L. saxatilis demonstrated a clear variability depending on intertidal level which corresponds to a shift in conditions within the occupied microhabitat. Interestingly, the differences between L. arcana (inhabiting the upper intertidal level) and L. compressa (inhabiting the lower one) were analogous to those between the upper and lower fractions of L. saxatilis. No significant level‐dependent changes were found between the upper and lower fractions of L. obtusata, most probably due to habitat amelioration by fucoid macroalgae. All these results are discussed in the contexts of the role of ecology in speciation, ecological niche dynamics and conservatism, and evolutionary history of the Neritrema species.  相似文献

D-glucuronyl C5-epimerase (GLCE) is one of the key enzymes in the biosynthesis of heparansulfate proteoglycans. Down-regulation of GLCE expression in human breast tumours suggests a possible involvement of the gene in carcinogenesis. Microbiological technology for the enhancement of oil recovery based on the activation of the stratal microflora was tested in the high-temperature horizons of the Kongdian bed (60 degrees C) of the Dagang oil field (China). This biotechnology consists in the pumping of a water-air mixture and nitrogen and phosphorus mineral salts into the oil stratum through injection wells in order to stimulate the activity of the stratal microflora which produce oil-releasing metabolites. Monitoring of the physicochemical, microbiological, and production characteristics of the test site has revealed large changes in the ecosystem as a result of the application of biotechnology. The cell numbers of thermophilic hydrocarbon-oxidizing, fermentative, sulfate-reducing, and methanogenic microorganisms increased 10-10 000-fold. The rates of methanogenesis and sulfate reduction increased in the near-bottom zone of the injection wells and of some production wells. The microbial oil transformation was accompanied by the accumulation of bicarbonate ions, volatile fatty acids, and biosurfactants in the formation waters, as well as of CH4 and CO2 both in the gas phase and in the oil. Microbial metabolites promoted the additional recovery of oil. As a result of the application of biotechnology, the water content in the production liquid from the test site decreased, and the oil content increased. This allowed the recovery of more than 14000 tons of additional oil over 3.5 years.  相似文献

A connector for chronic recording of EMG activity located on the dog's neck was developed as a row of male pins fixed on a dense band with attached wires of intramuscular electrodes. The wires were subcutaneously led to the connector. The band of the connector was sutured at the corners to the skin of the dorsal surface of the neck. Then the connector was anchored to the neck by a double adhesive tape wrapping like a collar. Compared to scull connectors, our model provided minimum surgical trauma to the animal, the connector or wires of intramuscular electrodes can be replaced if necessary. Localization of the connector did not impede scull and brain surgical operations. The model has been described and tested in the experiments in seven dogs with 8-20 pairs of implanted EMG-recording electrodes within 2-10 weeks.  相似文献

Algae of Peter the Great Bay (Sea of Japan) were for the first time bioassayed as a source of lectins. From 28 algal species of three orders, only some extracts from brown (Phaeophyta) and red (Rhodophyta) seaweeds were found to cause agglutination of human erythrocytes. The hemagglutinating activity of extracts from three species of brown algae and the red alga Tichocarpus crinitus was caused by lectins; for a majority of extracts from the investigated algae, this activity was due to the presence of substances of non-lectin nature.  相似文献

The purpose of the work was to study the embryotoxic action of chronic gamma-irradiation of pregnant female rats (F0) during the first 10 days of pregnancy in the total dose of 1 Gy (mean dose rate of 5.31 mGy/hour) on psychophysiological development of posterity of the first (F1) and the second (F2) generations and its modification by natural pigment melanin (peroral 10 mg/kg once per day during the irradiation). 54 pregnant female Wistar rats were the objects of research were their 180 descendants of the first generation and about 400 descendants of the second generation of maternal and of paternal lines. Psychophysiological development and its correction by melanin estimated on ability to learning with the test of training a conditioned avoidance reflex in the shuttle box. Precise negative action of gamma-irradiation in the aforesaid dose on psychophysiological development of posterity of the first generation is established. At rats of the second generation the inferiority is shown mainly at descendants of maternal line. Application of melanin of natural origin in most cases diminished negative consequences of the irradiation.  相似文献

Pattern of discharges and interhemispheric interaction of parietal neurons (somatosensory presentation of the ear) were compared in interstimulus intervals before active shake-off and passive freezing reactions at stimuli after elaboration defensive avoid reflex. Before passive reactions in contrast to active right-side influences on left-side neurons were reinforced with delay to 100 ms, it result in appearence of asymmetry in interhemispheric interaction with right-side dominance. Before passive reactions intensity of delta-frequencies was increased in impulsation of single neurons and in interaction of cells pair. On this evidence the pattern of interhemispheric asymmetry before stimuli can be one of a number of factors, determinant active or passive form of behavioral reactions and also reflective of activation level of neocortex.  相似文献
