Summary We report results about harvest activities ofTrinervitermes trinervius, Trinervitermes occidentalis, Bellicositermes natalensis etAncistrotermes cavithorax, and building activitiés ofTrinervitermes trinervius, Amitermes evuncifer, Cubitermes severus andBellicositermes natalensis, in open savannah of South of Ivory Coast. Seasonal cycles are shown off and confronted with climatic factors.For the considered Termites, the dependence towards atmospheric water is related to various ethology of species.

We have previously shown that 3-nitro-1H-1,2,4-triazole-based amines demonstrate significant trypanocidal activity, in particular against Trypanosoma cruzi, the causative parasite of Chagas disease. In the present work we further expanded our research by evaluating in vitro the trypanocidal activity of nitrotriazole-based piperazines and nitrotriazole-based 2-amino-1,3-benzothiazoles to establish additional SARs. All nitrotriazole-based derivatives were active or moderately active against T. cruzi; however two of them did not fulfill the selectivity criteria. Five derivatives were active or moderately active against Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense while one derivative was moderately active against Leishmania donovani. Active compounds against T. cruzi demonstrated selectivity indexes (toxicity to host cells/toxicity to T. cruzi amastigotes) from 117 to 1725 and 12 of 13 compounds were up to 39-fold more potent than the reference compound benznidazole. Dobutamine is a β-adrenergic agonist with an affinity higher for receptor expressed in the heart (β1) than for receptors expressed in the arteries (β2). When systemically administered, it increases cardiac demand. Thus, dobutamine unmasks abnormal rhythm or ischemic areas potentially at risk of infarction. Monitoring of heart function during a cardiac stress test can be performed by either ecocardiography or cardiac catheterization. The latter is an invasive but more accurate and informative technique that the former.Cardiac stress test induced by dobutamine and monitored by cardiac catheterization accomplished as described here allows, in a single experiment, the measurement of the following hemodynamic parameters: heart rate (HR), systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, end-diastolic pressure, maximal positive pressure development (dP/dtmax) and maximal negative pressure development (dP/dtmin), at baseline conditions and under increasing doses of dobutamine.As expected, in normal mice we observed a dobutamine dose-related increase in HR, dP/dtmax and dP/dtmin. Moreover, at the highest dose tested (12 ng/g/min) the cardiac decompensation of high fat diet-induced obese mice was unmasked.  相似文献

Streptococcus pyogenes (group A Streptococcus) causes diseases ranging from mild pharyngitis to severe invasive infections. The N‐terminal fragment of streptococcal M protein elicits protective antibodies and is an attractive vaccine target. However, this N‐ terminal fragment is hypervariable: there are more than 200 different M types. In this study, an intranasal live bacterial vaccine comprising 10 strains of Lactococcus lactis, each expressing one N‐terminal fragment of M protein, has been developed. Live bacterial‐vectored vaccines cost less to manufacture because the processes involved are less complex than those required for production of protein subunit vaccines. Moreover, intranasal administration does not require syringes or specialized personnel. Evaluation of individual vaccine types (M1, M2, M3, M4, M6, M9, M12, M22, M28 and M77) showed that most of them protected mice against challenge with virulent S. pyogenes. All 10 strains combined in a 10‐valent vaccine (M×10) induced serum and bronchoalveolar lavage IgG titers that ranged from three‐ to 10‐fold those of unimmunized mice. After intranasal challenge with M28 streptococci, survival of M×10‐immunized mice was significantly higher than that of unimmunized mice. In contrast, when mice were challenged with M75 streptococci, survival of M×10‐immunized mice did not differ significantly from that of unimmunized mice. Mx‐10 immunized mice had significantly less S. pyogenes in oropharyngeal washes and developed less severe disease symptoms after challenge than did unimmunized mice. Our L. lactis‐based vaccine may provide an alternative solution to development of broadly protective group A streptococcal vaccines.

Previously we described an embryonic cell surface glycoprotein, ESGp, associated with the t-embryonic lethal alleles of the mouse t complex. This antigen is expressed on the cell surface of both early mouse embryos and embryonal carcinoma (EC) cell lines. The antigen is localized to areas of cell–cell contact in EC lines and redistributes to the outer edges of the blastomeres during compaction, thereby indicating a potential role in embryonic cell–cell interaction. We now report that this t-complex-associated ESGp is homologous to the mouse lysosomal-associated membrane protein-1 (LAMP-1). Limited protein sequence analyses of the amino terminal and an internal peptide indicate considerable homology with the LAMP-1 protein. Biochemical parameters such as protein core size, sulfation and phosphorylation status, and resistance to proteolysis also demonstrate homology. While we detect only a single message with a mouse LAMP-1 cDNA probe via Northern blotting, Southern analyses indicate the existence of at least two homologous LAMP-1 genes. Additionally, we present evidence suggesting that ESGp/LAMP-1 serves as a substrate which may be differentially glycosylated by the activities of the gene products of the different t-lethal alleles.  相似文献

In the Solanaceae, leaves from various Solanum species show an exceptional abundance of glycosylated sterols essentially due to a high acylated steryl glycoside content. Changes in sterol composition during the development of tomato indicated a low proportion of glycosylated sterols in the ungerminated seeds with these compounds becoming progressively predominant compared with other sterols during the course of germination. This biochemical characteristic could be observed throughout the development of all parts of this plant. However, the high glycosidic sterol content tends to decrease when the organs become senescent.  相似文献

Bramble suspension cultures normally contain Δ5 sterols (sitosterol, campesterol, and isofucosterol). When the cells were grown in a medium supplemented with AY-9944, their content of Δ5 sterols was greatly decreased and Δ8 sterols accumulated. Six Δ8 sterols, including three new compounds, (24R)-24-ethyl-5α-cholest-8-en-3β-ol, stigmasta-8,Z-24(28)-dien-3β-ol, and 4α-methyl-stigmasta-8,Z-24(28)-dien-3β-ol, were identified. AY-9944 probably inhibited the Δ8→Δ7 isomerase. A stable cell line growing permanently in an AY-supplemented medium was obtained.  相似文献

Résumé Tetrahymena geleii provenant de cultures âgées de 70 heures, étudié à l'état non proliférant en milieu minéral tamponné à pH 7.3, à la température de 22°C., présente une respiration de base correspondant à QO 2 voisin de 14. La consommation d'oxygène de cet organisme est accrue de 54% en présence de butyrate de sodium 0,01 M; elle est également accrue en présence d'acétate de sodium et de butyrate d'éthyle. Elle n'est pratiquement pas modifiée ni par le glucose ni par les acides dicarboxyliques participant au cycle deKrebs. Elle est inhibée de 50% par la pyrocatéchine 0,01 M.  相似文献
