Platyrrhinus is a diverse genus of small to large phyllostomid bats characterized by a comparatively narrow uropatagium thickly fringed with hair, a white dorsal stripe, comparatively large inner upper incisors that are convergent at the tips, and three upper and three lower molars. Eighteen species are currently recognized, the majority occurring in the Andes. Molecular, morphological, and morphometric analyses of specimens formerly identified as Platyrrhinus helleri support recognition of Platyrrhinus incarum as a separate species and reveal the presence of two species from western and northern South America that we describe herein as new ( Platyrrhinus angustirostris sp. nov. from eastern Colombia and Ecuador, north‐eastern Peru, and Venezuela and Platyrrhinus fusciventris sp. nov. from Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Trinidad and Tobago, northern Brazil, eastern Ecuador, and southern Venezuela). The effect of exposure to carbon monoxide on the activity of the (Fe) hydrogenase from Desulfovibrio vulgaris has been determined. Concentrations of carbon monoxide which completely inhibit hydrogenase activity and induce formation of the axial g = 2.06 EPR signal up to 0.8 spin/molecule do not cause irreversible inhibition of the (Fe) hydrogenase.  相似文献

Summary The chloride derivatives of all common Fmoc-amino acids lacking polar side chains as well as a number of benzyl based side chain protection have been prepared using the corresponding amino acid and thionyl chloride assisted by ultrasound has been described. The protocol is simple, efficient and rapid. All the acid chlorides prepared have been obtained in good yield and purity.  相似文献

Three purified endo-(1→4)-β-d-glucanases (EC 3.2.1.4), A, B, and C, from Sclerotium rolfsii culture filtrates showed homogeneity in disc-gel electrophoresis and in analytical isoelectric-focusing in polyacrylamide gel. The three endo-d-glucanases are glycoproteins, endo B and endo C being composed of a single polypeptide chain, and endo A of two dissimilar polypeptide chains that are covalently bound by a disulfide bridge. Endo B and endo C do not contain half-cystine residues. With carboxymethylcellulose as substrate, the liquifying activity of the three enzymes was inhibited by cellobiose but not by d-glucose. The specificity of the enzymes is restricted to β-(1→4) linkages, but they showed some differences in the mode of attack on cellodextrins, phosphoric acid-swollen cellulose, and lichenan to give cellobiose, cellotriose, and small proportions of d-glucose. Endo B in addition showed endo-d-xylanase activity.  相似文献

The hierarchical structure of spider dragline silk is composed of two major constituents, the amorphous phase and crystalline units, and its mechanical response has been attributed to these prime constituents. Silk mechanics, however, might also be influenced by the resistance against sliding of these two phases relative to each other under load. We here used atomistic molecular dynamics (MD) simulations to obtain friction forces for the relative sliding of the amorphous phase and crystalline units of Araneus diadematus spider silk. We computed the coefficient of viscosity of this interface to be in the order of 102 Ns/m2 by extrapolating our simulation data to the viscous limit. Interestingly, this value is two orders of magnitude smaller than the coefficient of viscosity within the amorphous phase. This suggests that sliding along a planar and homogeneous surface of straight polyalanine chains is much less hindered than within entangled disordered chains. Finally, in a simple finite element model, which is based on parameters determined from MD simulations including the newly deduced coefficient of viscosity, we assessed the frictional behavior between these two components for the experimental range of relative pulling velocities. We found that a perfectly relative horizontal motion has no significant resistance against sliding, however, slightly inclined loading causes measurable resistance. Our analysis paves the way towards a finite element model of silk fibers in which crystalline units can slide, move and rearrange themselves in the fiber during loading.  相似文献

Prolactin (PRL) regulates activity of nociceptors and causes hyperalgesia in pain conditions. PRL enhances nociceptive responses by rapidly modulating channels in nociceptors. The molecular mechanisms underlying PRL-induced transient signaling in neurons are not well understood. Here we use a variety of cell biology and pharmacological approaches to show that PRL transiently enhanced capsaicin-evoked responses involve protein kinase C ϵ (PKCϵ) or phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) pathways in female rat trigeminal (TG) neurons. We next reconstituted PRL-induced signaling in a heterologous expression system and TG neurons from PRL receptor (PRLR)-null mutant mice by expressing rat PRLR-long isoform (PRLR-L), PRLR-short isoform (PRLR-S), or a mix of both. Results show that PRLR-S, but not PRLR-L, is capable of mediating PRL-induced transient enhancement of capsaicin responses in both male and female TG neurons. However, co-expression of PRLR-L with PRLR-S (1:1 ratio) leads to the inhibition of the transient PRL actions. Co-expression of PRLR-L deletion mutants with PRLR-S indicated that the cytoplasmic site adjacent to the trans-membrane domain of PRLR-L was responsible for inhibitory effects of PRLR-L. Furthermore, in situ hybridization and immunohistochemistry data indicate that in normal conditions, PRLR-L is expressed mainly in glia with little expression in rat sensory neurons (3–5%) and human nerves. The predominant PRLR form in TG neurons/nerves from rats and humans is PRLR-S. Altogether, PRL-induced transient signaling in sensory neurons is governed by PI3K or PKCϵ, mediated via the PRLR-S isoform, and transient effects mediated by PRLR-S are inhibited by presence of PRLR-L in these cells.  相似文献

The Oriental armyworm, Mythimna separata Walker (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) is a major pest of cereal crops, and its outbreaks result in complete crop loss. In this study, we tested the pathogenicity and reproductive potential of indigenous entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs), Heterorhabditis indica Poinar, Karunakar, & David NBAIIH38, Steinernema abbasi Elawad NBAIISa01, S. carpocapsae Weiser NBAIISc05 and S. siamkayai Stock, Somsook and Reid NBAIRS92 against larval and pupal stages of M. separata under laboratory conditions. Steinernema carpocapsae caused significantly greater mortality in second- and fourth-instar larval stages than other EPNs species. Steinernema carpocapsae caused greatest mortality 100% in larval stages and 75% in pupal stages. Significant differences were observed in the lethal concentration values (LC50 and LC90) of EPNs species against different stages of M. separata. Differences in penetration and multiplication in the fourth-instar larval stages of M. separata were observed amongst the EPNs species. However, further studies are needed to reveal the field performance of EPN isolates tested to be included in the IPM programme of M. separata.  相似文献
