Yields of four soybean, Glycine max, cultivars were increased with subsoiling under the row and application of the nematicide, DBCP i 1,2-dibromo-3-chloropropane) in Tiflon sandy loam heavily infested with the root-knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita. These cultivars represent four maturity groups: very early (V), "Essex'', early (VI), "Davis'': medium (VII), ''Ransom''; and late (VIII), '' Hutton ''. The average increase for the four cullivars was about the same for subsoiling or DBCP. When the treatmcnts were used together, the increase was greater than when either was used alone, but the effects were not additive. Increased yields were obtained with subsoiling and DBCP for the most nematode resistant cultivar, Hutton, as well as for the most susccptiblc, Davis. Subsoiling reduced root-knot galling in nonfumigated plots but did not affect it in fumigated plots. On 12 September, M. incognita larvae were most numerous at the 0- to 20 cm depth, intermediate at 20 to 33 cm depth and least numerous at 33 to 46 cm depth, Subsoiling did not affect larval populations at the three levels. 相似文献

In this work, a method for improved protein identification of low-abundance proteins using unstained gels, in combination with robotics and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization tandem mass spectrometry, has been developed and evaluated. Fluctuating asymmetry (FA) was calculated for nine paired morphometric characters in a randombred population of house mice in order to assess the effects of age, sex, and phenotypical extremeness. FA did not significantly vary between sexes for any of the characters, and age proved to be significant only for innominate length. Additionally, FA values in high extreme individuals and low extreme individuals were compared to those for intermediate individuals to discover whether extreme individuals showed increased fluctuating asymmetry (decreased developmental stability) due to increased levels of homozygosity. Differences in fluctuating asymmetry magnitudes were found between the groups, although the extreme individuals did not consistently show increased fluctuating asymmetry and FA differences also showed no significant association with the level of heritability of each character. Activation of serotonin, glutamate or muscarinic receptors, incorporated into the membrane of Xenopus oocytes following injection of messenger RNA from rat brain, caused the development of a transient inward (Tin) current when the membrane was hyperpolarized. A detailed study was made of the Tin current induced during serotonin activation. The current is due principally to efflux of chloride ions, and is presumably activated by an influx of calcium ions, because it was blocked by removal of calcium from the bathing medium, by addition of manganese, cobalt or lanthanum, or by intracellular injection of EGTA. During application of serotonin, the amplitude of the Tin current increased slowly, and after washing it persisted for longer than the direct serotonin-induced current. The amplitude of the Tin current was sensitive to temperature and pH, and was abolished at pH 6.5 or by cooling to 12 degrees C. Next generation sequencing is transforming patient care by allowing physicians to customize and match treatment to their patients’ tumor alterations. Our goal was to study the association between key molecular alterations and outcome parameters. We evaluated the characteristics and outcomes (overall survival (OS), time to metastasis/recurrence, and best progression-free survival (PFS)) of 392 patients for whom next generation sequencing (182 or 236 genes) had been performed. The Kaplan-Meier method and Cox regression models were used for our analysis, and results were subjected to internal validation using a resampling method (bootstrap analysis). In a multivariable analysis (Cox regression model), the parameters that were statistically associated with a poorer overall survival were the presence of metastases at diagnosis (P = 0.014), gastrointestinal histology (P < 0.0001), PTEN (P < 0.0001), and CDKN2A alterations (P = 0.0001). The variables associated with a shorter time to metastases/recurrence were gastrointestinal histology (P = 0.004), APC (P = 0.008), PTEN (P = 0.026) and TP53 (P = 0.044) alterations. TP53 (P = 0.003) and PTEN (P = 0.034) alterations were independent predictors of a shorter best PFS. A personalized treatment approach (matching the molecular aberration with a cognate targeted drug) also correlated with a longer best PFS (P = 0.046). Our study demonstrated that, across diverse cancers, anomalies in specific tumor suppressor genes (PTEN, CDKN2A, APC, and/or TP53) were independently associated with a worse outcome, as reflected by time to metastases/recurrence, best PFS on treatment, and/or overall survival. Acylphosphonic acids, R-CO-PO(OH)2, have been synthesized by the steps [formula: see text] of which the last is new and provides a mild method for de-esterifying acylphosphonic acids. Their reductive amination gives a simple way of making 1-aminoalkylphosphonic acids. Acetylphosphonic acid inhibited NAD+ reduction by pyruvate with the pyruvate dehydrogenases from Escherichia coli and Bacillus stearothermophilus. The inhibition was competitive with pyruvate, with Ki of 6 microM for the E. coli enzyme (pyruvate Km 0.5 mM) and one of 0.4 mM of the B. stearothermophilus enzyme (pyruvate Km 0.1 mM). Acetylphosphonate and its monomethyl ester are substates for pig heart lactate dehydrogenase, with Km values of 15 mM and 10 mM respectively (pyruvate Km 0.05 mM) and specificity constants one thousandth that for pyruvate. 相似文献
