A systematic review to examine the efficacy of computer-based cognitive interventions for cognitively healthy older adults was conducted. Studies were included if they met the following criteria: average sample age of at least 55 years at time of training; participants did not have Alzheimer's disease or mild cognitive impairment; and the study measured cognitive outcomes as a result of training. Theoretical articles, review articles, and book chapters that did not include original data were excluded. We identified 151 studies published between 1984 and 2011, of which 38 met inclusion criteria and were further classified into three groups by the type of computerized program used: classic cognitive training tasks, neuropsychological software, and video games. Reported pre-post training effect sizes for intervention groups ranged from 0.06 to 6.32 for classic cognitive training interventions, 0.19 to 7.14 for neuropsychological software interventions, and 0.09 to 1.70 for video game interventions. Most studies reported older adults did not need to be technologically savvy in order to successfully complete or benefit from training. Overall, findings are comparable or better than those from reviews of more traditional, paper-and-pencil cognitive training approaches suggesting that computerized training is an effective, less labor intensive alternative. 相似文献

Electrostatic potential calculations have been performed on three different Cu, Zn superoxide dismutases (superoxide: superoxide oxidoreductase, EC 1.15 1.1 ), in order to evaluate the degree of conservation of the pattern of the electrostatic interactions between O2− and the active site recently pointed out in bovine Cu Zn SOD. The three Cu, Zn SODs that have been selected for this study, namely the bovine, ovine, and porcine enzymes, are highly homologous as to reasonably assume identical three-dimensional structure but display large differences in their net charge, as shown by their pI's which span over a wide range pHrange: 8.0 (sheep), 6.5(pig), 5.2(ox). Despite such a large difference in the net protein charge and in the spatial arrangement of electrostatic charges, electrostatic potential calculations show that the electrostatic channel directing the negatively charged substrate toward the positive catalytic site is strictly preserved with the same features for the three proteins. Summary The uptake of C14-urea into everted and noneverted bladder sacs was compared, over short time periods (up to 2 min), with the transepithelial urea fluxes. This method allowed the study of the time course of urea uptake and distribution, while previously this problem was only studied in steady-state conditions. When mucosal uptake was studied no accumulation of C14-urea inside the tissue was observed, indicating that the mucosal border could be the limiting step. Comparative studies of urea and inulin uptake from the serosal side showed that urea equilibrated with the water epithelial cells in less than 30 sec. This accumulation suggested again that the mucosal border is an effective barrier for urea translocation. The kinetics of the increase in urea permeability induced by antidiuretic hormone was also studied and it was similar (T1/2:4.3 min) to the kinetics of the increase in water permeability induced by the hormone (T1/2:5.6 min). A strong parallelism was also observed between the time course of the increases in water and urea permeabilities induced by medium hypertonicity (T1/2 25 and 26 min, respectively).
