Based on a light- and scanning electron microscopical study of scolex morphology, tentacles and surface structures of 31 trypanorhynch species, an alternative classification of the trypanorhynch cestodes, adults, plerocerci and postlarvae, is presented. The arrangement of the tentacular armature is no longer used as a distinguishing feature for four different superfamilies. Instead, the presence or absence of ciliated pits and prebulbular organs is used to define three superfamilies: Tentacularioidea Poche, 1926; Otobothrioidea Dollfus, 1942; and Eutetrarhynchoidea Guiart, 1927. A total of 12 families are defined by the characters: the presence/absence of blastocysts, the number of bothridia and the reduction of the rhyncheal apparatus, together with a new character, complete rows of tentacular hooks (homeoacanth and heteroacanth typica) versus rows of hooks partly reduced (heteroacanth atypica and poeciloacanth). Of the 19 families previously accepted, 10 are retained (Eutetrarhynchidae, Gilquiniidae, Lacistorhynchidae, Mixodigmatidae, Otobothriidae, Paranybeliniidae, Pterobothriidae, Shirleyrhynchidae, Sphyriocephalidae and Tentaculariidae, all sensu nov.); one family is reinstated (i.e. Aporhynchidae Poche, 1926 sensu nov.) and a new one is added (i.e. Pseudotobothriidae n. fam.). Advantages of this alternative classification of trypanorhynch cestodes are: (i) the resolution of incongruities and questions caused by the use of the tentacular armature to distinguish superfamilies; (ii) the criteria for the establishment of higher taxa, superfamilies and families are clearly defined; (iii) with the findings of new species with different character combinations, this system can be enlarged up to 4 superfamilies and 48 families without loosing its stability; and (iv) all existing genera are easily re-assigned to the superfamilies and families.  相似文献

During the past 50 years, Fennoscandian populations of spring‐spawning Baltic cisco (Coregonus albula), sympatric to common autumn‐spawners, have declined or disappeared; for example, three out of four known spring‐spawning populations in Sweden are regarded as extinct. Over the same period, the climate has changed and populations have been subject to other anthropogenic stressors. We compared historic (1960s) and recent (1990–2000s) morphological data from the still‐existent sympatric cisco populations in Lake Fegen, Sweden. Phenotypic changes were found for spring‐spawners making them more similar to the sympatric autumn‐spawners that had remained virtually unchanged. Based on results for other salmoniform fishes, a phenotypically plastic response to increased temperature during early development appears unlikely. The recent material was also analyzed with microsatellite markers; long‐term effective population size in spring‐spawners was estimated to be about 20 times lower than autumn‐spawners, with signs of long‐term gene flow in both directions and a recent genetic bottleneck in spring‐spawners. We suggest the change toward a less distinct phenotype in spring‐spawners to reflect a recent increase in gene flow from autumn‐spawners. Time since divergence was estimated to only c. 1,900 years (95% CI: 400–5,900), but still the Fegen populations represent the most morphologically and genetically distinct sympatric populations studied. Consequently, we hypothesize that less distinct population pairs can be even younger and that spring‐spawning may have repeatedly evolved and disappeared in several lakes since the end of the last glaciation, concurrent with changed environmental conditions.  相似文献

This article presents Swedish economy‐wide material flow accounts for the period 1987‐1998. It also shows possibilities for enhancing the international comparability of aggregated data on material use, by distinguishing between materials used for consumption and export purposes. The direct material input (DMI) is used as an aggregate measure to estimate the amounts of natural resources (except water and air) that are taken from nature into the economy within a year, including imports to and production within the region in question. The division of materials used for consumption and export purposes avoids double counting trade flows when DMI is applied to a group of countries. The annual DMI in Sweden for 1997‐1998, including production and imports, amounts to 24 to 27 metric tons per capita (t/c). The fossil fuel input varies only slightly over the period, from 3.2 t/c in 1991 to 3.6 t/c in 1996, a level deemed unsustainable by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. The input of renewable raw materials varies between 8 and 9 t/c. Ores and minerals vary between 11 and 15 t/c. The DMI puts Sweden above estimates made for Germany, the United States, and Japan and in the same range as the Netherlands. The differences in these values can mainly be explained by the relative importance of exports as compared to the size of the economy and by the variation in system boundaries for the data on natural resources. The system boundaries and data sources for natural resources need to be further defined to make the measures fully comparable. Around 5 t/c is exported, whereas the rest, around 20 t/c, is national consumption. The aggregate direct material consumption (DMC), which is the DMI minus exports, communicates the magnitude of resource use. Comparisons of the input with solid waste statistics indicate that quantity of waste (excluding mining waste) in Sweden is equal to about 10% relative of the total resource use. Material collected for recycling by the waste management system is equal to about 5% of the amount of virgin resources brought into society each year.  相似文献

Knowledge of the crop-size and vertical profile with respect to sea level of dead leaf blades and other shoot parts of saltmarsh grasses is a prerequisite for projections of seawater impact upon saltmarsh grass-shoot decomposers. We measured seasonal changes in quantities of leaf blade and leaf sheath+stem of smooth cordgrass in southern temperate saltmarshes of three types: low- (LD), mid- (MD), and high-drainage (HD) marshes (i.e., with low to high densities of drainage creeks). In each type of marsh, we took samples in the three characteristic subsites, short-shoot, intermediate-height, and tall-shoot. Wholly dead (brown) and living (some green) shoots were counted and their canopy heights measured, and the mass of all shoots was measured in 10-cm height increments (above sediment), with separation of living and dead parts. Detached material was also quantified, separated into that trapped in the canopy, and that prostrate on the sediment. Extent of marsh drainage did not affect the density of wholly dead shoots, which ranged from an average of 51 m−2 in autumn to 103 m−2 in spring, and 57 m−2 in tall subsites to 89–96 m−2 in short and intermediate subsites. The top of the dead-shoot canopy was about 20 cm taller than the living-shoot canopy in winter/spring, but was below it ( ≈50 cm) in summer/autumn. The mass of standing-dead leaf blades was 4- to 5-fold greater in winter than in summer, and it was about 2.5-fold greater at tall than at short sites. Detached litter trapped among shoots above the sediment averaged 26% of total dead-shoot mass, but litter lying on the sediment averaged only 6% of total dead-shoot mass. Since export of macrodetritus from marshgrass stands is inconsequential, the small prostrate-litter mass implies that breakdown of shoots to small particles takes place within the vegetated marsh, and that standing decay predisposes fallen material to rapid disintegration. Comparison of heights of usual tidal contact on shoots at the short- and tall-shoot subsites showed that projected impacts of seawater upon leaf-blade decay would be greater at short-shoot subsites (high marsh) than at tall-shoot subsites (low marsh). This was because the vertical profile of dead-blade mass resulted in more of the short-shoot dead-blade mass residing within the vertical span most regularly contacted by flooding tides.  相似文献

NaF- and isoproterenol-stimulated adenyl cyclase activity found in preparations from rat erythrocytes is obviously localized mainly in the reticulocytes. After treatment with acetylphenyl hydrazine, both reticulocyte counts and adenyl cyclase activity increase dose-dependently. Cell-penetrating peptide mediated uptake of labels appears to follow an equilibrium-like process. However, this assumption is only valid if the peptides are stabile. Hence, in this study we investigate intracellular and extracellular peptide degradation kinetics of two fluorescein labeled cell-penetrating peptides, namely MAP and penetratin, in Chinese hamster ovarian cells. The degradation and uptake kinetics were assessed by RP-HPLC equipped with a fluorescence detector. We show that MAP and penetratin are rapidly degraded both extracellularly and intracellularly giving rise to several degradation products. Kinetics indicates that intracellularly, the peptides exist in (at least) two distinct pools: one that is immediately degraded and one that is stabile. Moreover, the degradation could be decreased by treating the peptides with BSA and phenanthroline and the uptake was significantly reduced by cytochalasin B, chloroquine and energy depletion. The results indicate that the extracellular degradation determines the intracellular peptide concentration in this system and therefore the stability of cell-penetrating peptides needs to be evaluated.  相似文献
