A set of five preliminary range-charts shows the known stratigraphical distribution of 52 selected species or categories of palynomorphs through the stages and substages of the Alpine Triassic. The charts have been composed by combining numerous partial records from sections in southern Germany, Austria, Italy, Hungary and Yugoslavia. A considerable part of the palynological data is chronostratigraphically controlled by ammonoids or other significant faunal elements.  相似文献

Confocal microscopy is very useful in biology because of its three dimensional imaging capacities and has proven to be an excellent tool to study the 3D organization of, for instance, cell structures. This property of confocal microscopy makes it also very suitable for observation during guidance of the three dimensional manipulation of single cells or cell elements. Therefore we decided to integrate a confocal microscope and a single beam optical manipulator into a single instrument. The advantage of optical manipulation over mechanical techniques is that it is non-invasive and therefore may be applied on living (micro-) organisms and cells. The creation of an effective single beam optical trap requires the use of a high numerical aperture (N.A.) objective to focus the laser beam. In this paper we briefly discuss the vertical or axial force exerted on a sphere in a single beam trap. The axial force on a sphere placed on the optical axis, caused by reflection and refraction, is calculated applying a electromagnetic vector diffraction theory to determine the field distribution in the focal region. One of the results is that the particle also experiences a vertical trapping force towards the focusing lens when it is in the strongly convergent part of the field in addition to the known negative signed trapping force in the divergent part of the field. Further we describe an instrumental approach to realize optical trapping in which the optical trap position is controlled by moving the focusing objective only.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

Living marine stromatolites at Highborne Cay, Bahamas, are formed by microbial mat communities that facilitate precipitation of calcium carbonate and bind and trap small carbonate sand grains. This process results in a laminated structure similar to the layering observed in ancient stromatolites. In the modern marine system at Highborne Cay, lamination, lithification and stromatolite formation are associated with cycling between three types of microbial communities at the stromatolite surface (Types 1, 2 and 3, which range from a leathery microbial mat to microbially fused sediment). Examination of 923 universal small-subunit rRNA gene sequences from these communities reveals that taxonomic richness increases during transition from Type 1 to Type 3 communities, supporting a previous model that proposed that the three communities represent different stages of mat development. The phylogenetic composition also changes significantly between these community types and these community changes occur in concert with variation in biogeochemical rates. The dominant bacterial groups detected in the stromatolites include Alphaproteobacteria , Planctomycetes , Cyanobacteria and Bacteroidetes . In addition, the stromatolite communities were found to contain novel cyanobacteria that may be uniquely associated with modern marine stromatolites. The implications of these findings are discussed in the context of current models for stromatolite formation.  相似文献

Abstract: The purple sulfur bacterium Thiocapsa roseopersicina was examined for photo-autotrophic growth on dimethyl sulfide (DMS). The maximum specific growth rate μ max (0.068 h−1), saturation constant K s (38 μm l−1), and yield (5.24 mg protein mmol−1 DMS) were determined in chemostat experiments. Dimethyl sulfoxide was the only product of DMS oxidation. Batch experiments revealed the simultaneous oxidation of DMS and hydrogen sulfide.  相似文献
