Dog rose (Rosa canina L.) plants in the bloom stages of flowering were sprayed by indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) in concentrations of 0.06 and 0.60 mM and gibberellic acid (GA3) in concentrations of 0.60 and 1.50 mM. Ascorbic acid, total sugar, reducing sugar and carotenoid contents gradually increased, while the protein content remained unchanged and the content of phenolic substances decreased during hypanthium development. Ascorbic acid, total sugar, reducing sugar and carotenoid contents increased in hypanthium sprayed by GA3 and IAA. However, IAA and GA3 applications (except low concentrations) decreased contents of phenolic substances. IAA and GA applications might be a good way to produce the high quality hypanthium in R. canina. 相似文献

Background
Previous military studies have shown an energy deficit during a strenuous field training course (TC). This study aimed to determine the effects of energy bar supplementation on energy balance, physical activity (PA), physical performance and well-being and to evaluate ad libitum fluid intake during wintertime 8-day strenuous TC.Methods
Twenty-six men (age 20±1 yr.) were randomly divided into two groups: The control group (n = 12) had traditional field rations and the experimental (Ebar) group (n = 14) field rations plus energy bars of 4.1 MJ•day−1. Energy (EI) and water intake was recorded. Fat-free mass and water loss were measured with deuterium dilution and elimination, respectively. The energy expenditure was calculated using the intake/balance method and energy availability as (EI/estimated basal metabolic rate). PA was monitored using an accelerometer. Physical performance was measured and questionnaires of upper respiratory tract infections (URTI), hunger and mood state were recorded before, during and after TC.Results
Ebar had a higher EI and energy availability than the controls. However, decreases in body mass and fat mass were similar in both groups representing an energy deficit. No differences were observed between the groups in PA, water balance, URTI symptoms and changes in physical performance and fat-free mass. Ebar felt less hunger after TC than the controls and they had improved positive mood state during the latter part of TC while controls did not. Water deficit associated to higher PA. Furthermore, URTI symptoms and negative mood state associated negatively with energy availability and PA.Conclusion
An easy-to-use protein-rich energy bars did not prevent energy deficit nor influence PA during an 8-day TC. The high content of protein in the bars might have induced satiation decreasing energy intake from field rations. PA and energy intake seems to be primarily affected by other factors than energy supplementation such as mood state. 相似文献53.

The effect of dysfunctional mitochondria in several cell pathologies has been reported in renal diseases, including diabetic nephropathy and acute kidney injury. Previous studies have reported that mitochondrial transplantation provided surprising results in myocardial and liver ischemia, as well as in Parkinson's disease. We aimed to investigate the beneficial effects of isolated mitochondria transplantation from mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in vivo, to mitigate renal damage that arises from doxorubicin‐mediated nephrotoxicity and its action mechanism. In this study, a kidney model of doxorubicin‐mediated nephrotoxicity was used and isolated mitochondria from MSCs were transferred to the renal cortex of rats. The findings showed that the rate of isolated mitochondria from MSCs maintains sufficient membrane integrity, and was associated with a beneficial renal therapeutic effect. Following doxorubicin‐mediated renal injury, isolated mitochondria or vehicle infused into the renal cortex and rats were monitored for five days. This study found that mitochondrial transplantation decreased cellular oxidative stress and promoted regeneration of tubular cells after renal injury (P < .001, P = .009). Moreover, mitochondrial transplantation reduced protein accumulation of tubular cells and reversed renal deficits (P = .01, P < .001). Mitochondrial transplantation increased Bcl‐2 levels, and caspase‐3 levels decreased in injured renal cells (P < .015, P < .001). Our results provide a direct link between mitochondria dysfunction and doxorubicin‐mediated nephrotoxicity and suggest a therapeutic effect of transferring isolated mitochondria obtained from MSCs against renal injury. To our knowledge, this study is the first study in the literature that showed good therapeutic effects of mitochondrial transplantation in a nephrotoxicity model, which is under‐researched. 相似文献

Antioxidant nutrients have demonstrated potential in protecting against exercise-induced oxidative stress. alpha-Lipoic acid (LA) is a proglutathione dietary supplement that is known to strengthen the antioxidant network. We studied the effect of intragastric LA supplementation (150 mg/kg, 8 wk) on tissue LA levels, glutathione metabolism, and lipid peroxidation in rats at rest and after exhaustive treadmill exercise. LA supplementation increased the level of free LA in the red gastrocnemius muscle and increased total glutathione levels in the liver and blood. The exercise-induced decrease in heart glutathione S-transferase activity was prevented by LA supplementation. Exhaustive exercise significantly increased thiobarbituric acid-reactive substance levels in the liver and red gastrocnemius muscle. LA supplementation protected against oxidative lipid damage in the heart, liver, and red gastrocnemius muscle. This study reports that orally supplemented LA is able to favorably influence tissue antioxidant defenses and counteract lipid peroxidation at rest and in response to exercise. 相似文献

The effect of a weak magnetic field (MF) on adenosine deaminase (ADA) and xanthine oxidase (XOD) activities have been investigated. A 50 Hz uniform MF was generated, and the magnitude of the field was kept constant at 5.8 mT. The changes in ADA activity over time were significantly different in and out of the MF; MF caused a steeper decline in ADA activity compared to the situation when no MF is present. In addition, MF caused a significant increase in XOD activity. There were no significant time-related changes for either enzyme in the absence of the MF. We suggest that a weak MF affects enzymatic systems. 相似文献

Human p-glycoprotein encoded by human multidrug resistance (MDR1) gene, is a transmembrane protein that serves as efflux pump for a wide variety of lipophilic compounds possessing a physiological role in protecting cells against the DNA damaging of certain xenobiotics. According to the published data, the frequency of C3435T polymorphism differs depending on the different ethnical populations such as Asian, African, and Caucasians populations. In our study, we identified the MDR1 C3435T polymorphism in 150 healthy volunteers in Denizli province of Turkey. DNA was extracted from peripheral blood samples by standard phenol/chloroform extraction method. Polymerase chain reaction–restriction fragment length polymorphism was used for the detection of C3435T single nucleotide polymorphism. We obtained CC, CT and TT genotype frequencies as 20, 53 and 27%, respectively. According to our results, the C allele in Turkish population (Denizli province, west of Turkey) is found 47% and this data shows similarity with Caucasian (UK and German) populations and significantly lower than African populations (p < 0.001). Our study is the first data on the genotype and allele frequency of the human multidrug resistance (MDR1) Gene C3435T Polymorphism in Denizli Province at regional basis in Turkey. Our results could serve as a basis for large-scale correlation studies on the relevance of C3435T genotype in cancer therapy and other diseases in Turkish population. Investigation of genotype frequencies related with p-glycoprotein substrates should be investigated in large scale at regional bases in Turkish population. The scaled-up data might help either to the use of p-glycoprotein substrates to be used for therapeutic applications and population genetics considering the genotype frequencies possibly occurring throughout the history in Anatolian basin. 相似文献

Functional protein annotation is an important matter for in vivo and in silico biology. Several computational methods have been proposed that make use of a wide range of features such as motifs, domains, homology, structure and physicochemical properties. There is no single method that performs best in all functional classification problems because information obtained using any of these features depends on the function to be assigned to the protein. In this study, we portray a novel approach that combines different methods to better represent protein function. First, we formulated the function annotation problem as a classification problem defined on 300 different Gene Ontology (GO) terms from molecular function aspect. We presented a method to form positive and negative training examples while taking into account the directed acyclic graph (DAG) structure and evidence codes of GO. We applied three different methods and their combinations. Results show that combining different methods improves prediction accuracy in most cases. Influence of nitrate and COD on phosphorus, nitrogen and dinitrotoluene (DNT) removals under batch anaerobic and anoxic conditions 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In this study, the effects of COD to NO(3)-N ratio in the feed on PO(4)-P removal was investigated. Maximum PO(4)-P uptake was obtained in the anoxic reactor when the COD to NO(3)-N ratios were between 2 and 3.75. With the influent COD of 800-1500 mg COD/L a total of the maximum removable PO(4)-P was 56 mg PO(4)-P/L through 20 days of anaerobic/anoxic incubation, indicating 98% P removal in the anoxic reactor. Similarly, for the COD to NO(3)-N ratios varying between 2 and 3.75 maximum denitrification was observed. Through anoxic operation the poly-P bacteria are capable of removing NO(3)-N using VFA, COD as carbon source and NO(3)-N as the electron acceptor after methanogenesis has been completed. High NO(3)-N concentrations stopped significantly the P uptake. A total of 97-99% dinitrotoluene removal efficiencies in the reactors containing COD to NO(3)-N ratio of 2 and 3.75 after 20 days of incubation period. For maximum NO(3)-N and PO(4)-P removals optimal COD to NO(3)-N ratios, COD and NO(3)-N concentrations were 2-3.75, 2000-4000 mg COD/L and, 800-1500 mg NO(3)-N/L, respectively. 相似文献
