The validity of material flow analyses (MFAs) depends on the available information base, that is, the quality and quantity of available data. MFA data are cross‐disciplinary, can have varying formats and qualities, and originate from heterogeneous sources, such as official statistics, scientific models, or expert estimations. Statistical methods for data evaluation are most often inadequate, because MFA data are typically isolated values rather than extensive data sets. In consideration of the properties of MFA data, a data characterization framework for MFA is presented. It consists of an MFA data terminology, a data characterization matrix, and a procedure for database analysis. The framework facilitates systematic data characterization by cell‐level tagging of data with data attributes. Data attributes represent data characteristics and metainformation regarding statistical properties, meaning, origination, and application of the data. The data characterization framework is illustrated in a case study of a national phosphorus budget. This work furthers understanding of the information basis of material flow systems, promotes the transparent documentation and precise communication of MFA input data, and can be the foundation for better data interpretation and comprehensive data quality evaluation.  相似文献

Five clonal cell lines were established from a spontaneous BALB/c mouse osteosarcoma, and characterized. Four of these lines showed some similarities in morphology, in vitro growth properties, production of collagenous and noncollagenous extracellular matrix proteins and osteogenic differentiation. The cells formed colonies with characteristic differences in size and morphology in soft agar, and osteogenic sarcomas and metastases in syngeneic mice after transplantation. Ultrastructurally, cells in the transplant tumours showed marked osteogenic features. There were no osteoclast-like cells. The fifth cell line had somewhat different characteristics. All five lines expressed infectious endogenous murine leukemia viruses. Increased c-myc protoon-cogene expression was found in one cell line and c-fos expression at different levels in all lines. There was only very low expression of c-Ha-ras and no expression of c-Ki-ras and c-sis. DNA analysis showed the presence of newly acquired proviral genomes integrated at different sites in the cellular DNA. The results show that distinct osteogenic neoplastic subclones can be obtained from a primary mouse osteosarcoma. Although the clones exhibited an appreciable morphological, functional, and molecular diversity they retained the basic pathogenic properties of the tumour from which they were derived.  相似文献

Material flow analysis is a tool that is increasingly used as a foundation for resource management and environmental protection. This tool is primarily applied in a static manner to individual years, ignoring the impact of time on the material budgets. In this study, a detailed multiyear model of the Austrian phosphorus budget covering the period 1990–2011 was built to investigate its behavior over time and test the hypothesis that a multiyear approach can also contribute to the improvement of static budgets. Further, a novel method was applied to investigate the quality and characteristics of the data and quantify the uncertainty. The degree of change between the budgets was assessed and showed that approximately half of the flows have changed significantly and, at times, abruptly since 1990, but it is not possible to distinguish unequivocally between constant and moderately changing flows given their uncertainty. The study reveals that the phosphorus transported in waste flows has increased more rapidly than its recovery, which accounted for 55% to 60% of the total waste phosphorus in 1990 and only 40% in 2011. The loss ratio in landfills and cement kilns has oscillated in the range of 40% to 50%. From a methodological point of view, the multiyear approach has broadened the conceptual model of the budget, making it more suitable as a basis for material accounting and monitoring. Moreover, the analysis of the data reconciliation process over a long period of time proved to be a useful tool for identifying systematic errors in the model.  相似文献

A linear decapeptide, HGASYQDLGH, was synthesized and used as a model to evaluate the effect of nickel addition upon non-covalent backbone cyclization. The NMR data, obtained for the peptide in the presence of the metal ion, support the existence of predominant folded structures in solution, where the two His residues are maintained close to each other. These results suggest that insertion of even a single His residue at each peptide terminus can be used efficiently to reduce peptide flexibility without any backbone modification.  相似文献

Thermodynamic and spectroscopic properties of the species formed by dimethyltin(IV) cation with L-cysteine (cys) were studied by potentiometric, calorimetric, UV and NMR investigations in aqueous solution. The resulting speciation model showed the formation of five complex species: (CH(3))(2)Sn(cys)H(+), (CH(3))(2)Sn(cys)(0), (CH(3))(2)Sn(cys)OH(-), (CH(3))(2)Sn(cys)(2)H(-), (CH(3))(2)Sn(cys)(2)(2-). The stability and the formation percentages, for the mononuclear mixed species in particular, are very high, in a wide pH range. Thermodynamic parameters indicate that the enthalpy values are exothermic and the enthalpic contribution to the stability is higher than entropic one. Individual UV spectra of cys and dimethyltin(IV)-cys species were calculated. Spectroscopic results of UV and (1)H NMR investigations fully confirm the speciation model. The structures calculated from NMR investigations show that all the species have an eq-(CH(3))(2)-tbp structure.  相似文献

Embryonal carcinoma (EC) cells, stem cells of teratocarcinoma, represent an excellent model to study the developmental mechanisms that, inappropriately reactivated, can drive tumorigenesis. EC cells are very aggressive, and grow rapidly when injected into adult syngeneic mice. However, when injected into blastocysts, they revert to normality, giving rise to chimeric animals. In order to study the ability of postimplantation embryonic environment to "normalize" tumorigenic cells, and to study their homing, we transplanted F9, Nulli-SCC1, and P19 EC cells into 8 to 15-day allogenic CD1 mouse embryos, into allogenic CD1 newborns, and into syngeneic adult mice, and evaluated tumor formation, spreading, and homing. We found that, although at all embryonic stages successful transplantation occurred, the chances of developing tumors after birth increased with the time of injection of EC cells into the embryo. In addition, using enhanced green fluorescent protein-expressing F9 cells, we demonstrated that the cells not giving rise to tumors remained latent and could be tracked down in tissues during adulthood. Our data indicate that the embryonic environment retains a certain ability to "normalize" tumor cells also during post-implantation development. This could occur through yet unknown epigenetic signals triggering EC cells' differentiation.  相似文献

Split hand/foot malformation type I (SHFM1) disease locus maps to chromosome 7q21.3-q22, a region that includes the distal-less-related (dll) genes DLX5 and DLX6. However, incomplete penetrance, variable expressivity, segregation distortion, and syndromic association with other anomalies have so far prevented the identification of the SHFM1 gene(s) in man. Here we show that the targeted double inactivation of Dlx5 and Dlx6 in the mouse causes in homozygous mutant animals bilateral ectrodactyly with a severe defect of the central ray of the hindlimbs, a malformation typical of SHFM1. This is the first evidence that the role of dll/Dlx genes in appendage development is conserved from insects to mammals and proves their involvement in SHFM1.  相似文献
