Investigation of DNA complexes with histones F3 and F3+F2a2]

Characteristic viscosity, sedimentation constant and optical anisotropy were studied of the complexes formed between DNA and histone fractions F3 and F3+F2a2. The parameters mentioned continuously change with the increase of protein content within the complex. Analysis of experimental data shows that binding of a histone bads to a decrease of size and thermodynamic rigidity of the DNA molecule. On the basis of results obtained a model of F3 histone binding with DNA is suggested, amino acid sequence of this protein being taken into account. Comparison of behaviour of nucleohistones DNA+F3 and DNA+F1 studied previously testifies different way of binding of these histones to DNA.

The method of preparation of highly purified cytochrome c from bovine adrenal cortex is described. Absolute spectra of the protein in reduced and oxidized states and some its physico-chemical properties are investigated.     

Effects of an induced magnetic storm on the early ontogenesis of roach <Emphasis Type="Italic">Rutilus rutilus</Emphasis> (L.)

The influence that an induced magnetic storm (IMS) modeled in a confined volume has on the early ontogenesis of Rutilus rutilus was studied. The significant effects of the IMS were observed for the hatching rate of roach embryos, the size-weight and morphometric parameters of the fry, the variability of the vertebral column, and ontogeny stability in the roach offspring.     

Organophosphate analogs of biologically active compounds. XIV. Halophosphonate analogs of ATP as acetyl CoA carboxylase inhibitors

Halophosphonate ATP analogues pp[CHBr]pA and p[CHBr]ppA synthesised from bromomethylenebisphosphonate and adenosine derivatives, proved to be effective competitive inhibitors of Ac-CoA-carboxylase (CE 6.4.1.2) from rat liver (Ki = 0,2 mM). The inhibitory effects of both analogues were reversible and higher than those of some other ATP analogues. Another enzyme, Ac-CoA-synthetase (CE 6.2.1.1), with a different mode of ATP-cleavage showed wider specificity to ATP-analogues than Ac-CoA-carboxylase.     

Characteristics of the multiplication of a virulent strain of the plague microbe in Xenopsylla cheopis fleas infected parenterally

Xenopsylla cheopis fleas infected parenterally with the virulent strain of plague microbe of gerbil variant preserved the agent to the end of their lives. In the body cavity the microbes retained their ability for reproduction which was, however, limited. During the first seven days after the infection the number of microbes slightly increased and later became stabilized. Its mean indices (mean g) varied within the limits of 500 to 2000 microbe cells per 1 individual, maximum index rarely exceeded 30 000 microbe cells. Parenteral infection with plague agent did not affect essentially the longevity of fleas.     

Characteristics of the T-lymphocytes interacting with hematopoietic stem cells: the expression of Lyt-3 antigen

The lymph node cells were treated with monoclonal anti-Lyt-3 antibodies (anti-Lyt-3) and complement. Their interaction with colony-forming units (CFU) of bone marrow was studied. Anti-Lyt-3 did not affect the activity of T-lymphocytes, which changed the pattern of syngenic CFU differentiation in spleen of irradiated mice. On the contrary, the activity of T-lymphocytes, which inactivated proliferation and differentiation of non-syngenic CFU in spleen, was decreased. In the peritoneal cavity of irradiated mice antibodies did not affect the activity of T-lymphocytes which suppressed the colony-formation of non-syngenic stem cells and switched off the activity of T-lymphocytes that stimulated syngenic CFU colony-formation. The subpopulation characteristics of regulatory and effector T-cells has been analysed.
