Phenotype and allelic frequencies for ABO, MNSs, P, Rh, Kell, Duffy, and Diego blood groups, as well as for transferrins (Tf), haptoglobins (Hp), phosphoglucomutase 1 (PGM1), adenylate kinase (AK), 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase (PGD), and acid phosphatase (AcP) are described in 9–10 adjoining populations of Reindeer Chukchi. Additionally, one of three presently existing territorial subgroups of Siberian Eskimos was studied. The total sample size ranges from 931 to 1,066 in Chukchi, and from 99 to 102 in Eskimos, depending on the genetic system studied. Substantially reduced samples for Kidd and ABO secretion were investigated solely in the Reindeer Chukchi. Significant heterogeneity of allelic frequencies has been observed among Chukchi populations (χ = 378.47, P < 0.001). Summed genetic heterogeneity between Reindeer Chukchi and Siberian Eskimos was also found to be highly significant (χ = 186.54, P < 0.001). Both groups can be readily discriminated with only four outliers: NS , P1, R1, and Pa. Random genetic drift is suggested to be responsible for a large proportion of heterogeneity of allelic frequencies at the MNSs, P, and Rh blood-group system sites both among the Chukchi and Eskimos. Conversely, stabilizing selection is assumed as the principal agent maintaining homogeneous allelic frequencies at the AcP locus within the Chukchi subdivisions, whereas disruptive selection may be considered as a major factor leading to different pa frequencies between Chukchi and Eskimos. 相似文献

The study addresses the control of plant cell division and differentiation using the model of tumor-forming lines of radish. Expression of the genes involved in control of the cell cycle (CycD3), maintenance of meristematic cell activity (STM, WUS, and KNAT1), and primary response to cytokinin (ARR) was studied in inbred radish lines characterized by tumor growth at different stages of development. The influence of exogenic cytokinin on the expression of the genes of interest is analyzed. The possible role of the CycD3, KNAT1, STM, WUS, and ARR5 in tumor formation in radish is discussed. 相似文献

Fossil pollen data supplemented by tree macrofossil records were used to reconstruct the vegetation of the Former Soviet Union and Mongolia at 6000 years. Pollen spectra were assigned to biomes using the plant-functional-type method developed by Prentice et al . (1996). Surface pollen data and a modern vegetation map provided a test of the method. This is the first time such a broad-scale vegetation reconstruction for the greater part of northern Eurasia has been attempted with objective techniques. The new results confirm previous regional palaeoenvironmental studies of the mid-Holocene while providing a comprehensive synopsis and firmer conclusions. West of the Ural Mountains temperate deciduous forest extended both northward and southward from its modern range. The northern limits of cool mixed and cool conifer forests were also further north than present. Taiga was reduced in European Russia, but was extended into Yakutia where now there is cold deciduous forest. The northern limit of taiga was extended (as shown by increased Picea pollen percentages, and by tree macrofossil records north of the present-day forest limit) but tundra was still present in north-eastern Siberia. The boundary between forest and steppe in the continental interior did not shift substantially, and dry conditions similar to present existed in western Mongolia and north of the Aral Sea. 相似文献

The lipoxygenase-catalyzed oxidation of linoleic acid homologs was studied. While the linoleic acid oxidation by maize 9-lipoxygenase (9-LO) specifically produced (9S)-hydroperoxide, the dioxygenation of (11Z,14Z)-eicosadienoic (20:2) and (13Z,16Z)-docosadienoic (22:2) acids by the same enzyme lacked regio- and stereospecificity. The oxidation of 20:2 and 22:2 by 9-LO afforded low yields of racemic 11-, 12-, 14-, and 15-hydroperoxides or 13- and 17-hydroperoxides, respectively. Soybean 13-lipoxygenase-1 (13-LO) specifically oxidized 20:2, 22:2, and linoleate into (ω6S)-hydroperoxides. Dioxygenation of (9Z,12Z)-hexadecadienoic acid (16:2) by both 9-LO and 13-LO occurred specifically, affording (9S)- and (13S)-hydroperoxides, respectively. The data are consistent with the “pocket theory of lipoxygenase catalysis” (i.e. with the penetration of a substrate into the active center with the methyl end first). Marriage records of six raions (districts) of Udmurtia and the city of Glazov (a total of 10,518 records) have been used to calculate marriage-migration parameters. The endogamy indices of the rural and urban Udmurt populations are 0.59 (from 0.48 to 0.76 in individual districts) and 0.29, respectively, and those of the rural and urban Russian populations are 0.33 and 0.47, respectively. The mean ethnic assortativeness values are 1.05 and 0.89 for the rural and urban Udmurt populations, respectively, and 2.13 and 1.44 for the rural and urban Russian populations, respectively. The parameters of isolation by distance for the rural Udmurt population are the following: sigma = 52.4, a = 0.00035, and b = 0.012; those for the urban Udmurt population are 54.1, 0.00020, and 0.010, respectively. 相似文献

In an inbred low-activity (LA) strain of Drosophila melanogaster with a low
level of fitness and a complex of inadaptive characters, in situ
hybridization reveals an invariant pattern of distribution of three
copia-like elements (mdg-1, mdg-3, and copia). Rare, spontaneous, multiple
transpositions of mobile elements in the LA strain were shown to be coupled
with a drastic increase of fitness. A changed pattern of various types of
mobile elements was also observed on selecting the LA strain for higher
fitness. High-fitness strains show transpositions of mobile elements to
definite chromosomal sites ("hot spots"). Concerted changes in the location
of three different mobile elements were found to be coupled with an
increase of fitness. The mdg-1 distribution patterns were also examined in
two low-fitness strains independently selected from the high-fitness ones.
Fitness decrease was accompanied by mdg-1 excision from the hot spots of
their location usually detected in the high-fitness strains. The results
suggest the existence of a system of adaptive transpositions of mobile
elements that takes part in fitness control.

Quantitative trait loci (QTLs) associated with the phenotypic expression of the activity of different forms of lipoxygenase (LOX) under water deficit were detected in the chromosomes of the D-genome using intogression lines of common wheat Triticum aestivum L. Chinese Spring (Synthetic 6x). QTL associated with the activity of seed soluble LOX was identified on the short arm of chromosome 4D. The activity of membranebound form of enzyme in the seedlings was mapped to the short arm, while that of a soluble form was on the long arm of chromosome 5D. Two regions responsible for the activity of soluble LOX in the leaves were found on the short arm of chromosome 2D. Three QTLs associated with the activities of chloroplast LOXs were found on the same chromosome: the activity of the soluble form was linked to Xgwm261 and Xgwm539 markers, and the membrane form to Xgdm93 marker. QTLs for the activities of both soluble and membrane-bound LOX in the leaves were identified in the centromeric region of chromosome 7D. The activities of two membrane enzymes in the leaves were linked to Xgdm130 marker on the short arm of this chromosome. Loci associated with the activity of different LOX forms colocalized with QTLs for the shoot mass, gas exchange parameters, chlorophyll fluorescence, content of photosynthetic pigments, and grain productivity of wheat. A correlation between these parameters and the LOX activity was detected and it was shown that various forms of the enzyme were differentially involved in the adaptation of wheat plants to water deficit. Lipoxygenase (LOG) in protein fractions isolated from the leaves of substituted wheat lines was investigated. Three molecular forms of the enzyme were detected. A water deficiency caused the induction of a membrane-bound form (mLOG) and resulted in a decrease in the activity of "soluble" enzymes (s1LOG) and (s2LOG) in most genotypes. A correlation analysis demonstrated the dependence between the level of enzymatic activity and indices of resistance to drought. A genetic control of the s 1 LOG and s2LOG activity at an optimal water supply level was associated with chromosomes 1A, 1D, 3A, 5A, 5B, and 5D, while under the conditions of the modeled soil drought, it was associated with chromosomes 1B and 1D. 相似文献

In previous study it was shown that duration of tracheal forced expiratory noises is promising to reveal negative changes of lung function after dive. The objective is a study of parameters of tracheal forced expiratory noises in changed gas media. The first experiment involved 25 volunteers (22-60 years), performed forced exhalation under normal pressure with air, oxygen-helium and oxygen-krypton mixtures. The second experiment in the chamber involved 6 volunteers (25-46 years), which performed forced exhalation with air under normal pressure (0.1 MPa), and under elevated pressure 0.263 MPa with air and oxygen-helium mixture. In the first experiment the direct linear dependence on gas density was found for forced expiratory noises common duration in the band of 200-2000 Hz and for its durations in narrow 200-Hz bands, excluding high frequency range 1400-2000 Hz. In the second experiment a significant reversed dependence of high frequency durations and spectral energies in 200-Hz bands (1600-2000 Hz) on adiabatic gas compressibility. Individual dynamics of common duration of tracheal forced expiratory noises under model dive of 16.3 m (0.263 MPa) is more then the diagnostic threshold of this parameter for lung function decrease, previously obtained for divers under normal pressure. 相似文献
