The reaction of gold with thiosaccharin ligand and additional phosphorous coligands is studied. Four new Au(I) complexes with thiosaccharinate as coordinating counteranion: [Au(tsac)(PPh3)], [Au2(tsac)2(dppm)]·EtOH, Au2(tsac)2(dppe)·EtOH, and Au(tsac)(Htsac)2·0.25 EtOH (tsac: thiosaccharinate, C6H4C(S)NSO2, dppm: bis(diphenylphosphino)methane, dppe: bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane) were synthesized and characterized by means of spectroscopic techniques (IR, UV-Vis, and 1H, 13C and 13P NMR). The crystal structure of two of them, [Au(tsac)(PPh3)] and [Au2(tsac)2(dppm)]·EtOH, were solved applying single crystal X-ray diffraction and studied using the density functional theory (DFT) formalism. In the latter, the aurophilic interaction between the two gold centers was analyzed and theoretically confirmed.  相似文献

Cronobacter spp. ( Enterobacter sakazakii ) includes gram-negative opportunistic foodborne pathogens known as rare but important causes of life-threatening neonatal infections. However, the pathogenic mechanism is not yet clear. In this study, 43 isolates of Cronobacter, from human and nonhuman sources, were analyzed. A total of four clusters were identified and 32 DNA pulsotypes were observed by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis. In addition, 86% of the Cronobacter isolates were able to adhere to HEp-2 cells and 35% were invasive, Cronobacter sakazakii isolates being the most efficient. Twenty-six percent of Cronobacter isolates were able to form biofilms, mainly those from nonhuman sources, such as Cronobacter dublinensis and Cronobacter malonaticus . Three putative virulence genes (siderophore-interacting protein (sip), type III hemolysin (hly), and plasminogen activator (cpa)) were identified by bioinformatic analysis and then detected by PCR. The sip gene was the most frequently detected (60%; 26/43), followed by the hly gene (37%; 16/43) and the cpa gene (28%; 12/43). The three genes were identified primarily in C. sakazakii. Our data show that Cronobacter species harbor different virulence traits.  相似文献

Aminoalditol 1-amino-1-deoxy-D-sorbitol (1) was readily converted into 2,3,4,5-tetra-O-methyl derivative 5, a key precursor of a sugar-based [n]-polyurethane. For the polymerization, the free amino or primary hydroxyl groups of 5 were selectively activated and employed as starting monomers in two alternative procedures. Thus, the amino function of 5 was converted into the isocyanate derivative by treatment with di-tert-butyltricarbonate, and polymerized in situ in the presence of Zr(IV) acetylacetonate. The resulting poly(1-amino-1-deoxy-2,3,4,5-tetra-O-methyl-D-sorbitol)urethane (8) had a moderate molecular weight and showed the presence of urea units. The alternative synthesis of 8 involved the activation of the free hydroxyl group of 5 as the corresponding phenylcarbonate. The polymerization of this α-amino-ω-phenylcarbonate alditol monomer does not require a metal catalyst. The resulting material exhibited an improved molecular weight and higher purity than that obtained via the isocyanate. [n]-polyurethane 8 was highly soluble in water as well as in common organic solvents (chloroform, acetone, ethyl acetate, etc) and was obtained as an amorphous material which was characterized thermally and spectroscopically.  相似文献

The effect of hydrostatic pressure on lipid structure and dynamics is highly important as a tool in biophysics and bio-technology, and in the biology of deep sea organisms. Despite its importance, high hydrostatic pressure remains significantly less utilised than other thermodynamic variables such as temperature and chemical composition. Here, we give an overview of some of the theoretical aspects which determine lipid behaviour under pressure and the techniques and technology available to study these effects. We also summarise several recent experiments which highlight the information available from these approaches.  相似文献

Many plants have been used to treat some diseases and infections since time immemorial, and this potential has been exploited by the pharmaceutical industry in the search of new analgesic, anticarcinogenic and antimicrobial agents, among other active agents. In order to contribute with bioprospection studies on the Colombian flora, 35 extracts from 13 plant species belonging to seven families (Apocynaceae, Cactaceae, Costaceae, Eremolepidaceae, Passifloraceae, Solanaceae and Urticaceae) were collected from La Marcada Natural Regional Park (LMNRP), Colombia. Dichloromethane, n-hexane and aqueous-methanol crude extracts were prepared and evaluated for their activity against Saccharomyces cerevisiae RS322N, R52Y and RS321 strains in the yeast mutant assay and their antioxidant capacity through the DPPH test. The dichloromethane extract from Myriocarpa stipitata (Urticaceae) showed moderate inhibitory activity against the three S. cerevisiae strains tested. The capacity of the dichloromethane extract from M. stipitata to inhibit the enzyme topoisomerase I and to cause DNA damage was inferred from these results. In the DPPH assay, the n-hexane crude extract from Costus sp. (Costaceae) showed good antioxidant activity (48%); in addition, the crude dichloromethane and aqueous-methanol extracts from Rhipsalis micrantha (Cactaceae) showed moderate antioxidant activity with percentage of 29 and 21%, respectively.  相似文献

In the present work, the hourly activity of Lutzomyia neivai was studied in the southern part of the province of Tucumán, Argentina, in an area of transmission of cutaneous leishmaniasis during two months of higher activity. In addition, the variables that influenced the abundance of Lu. neivai were evaluated. A total of 1,146 individuals belonging to Lu. neivai (97%) and Lutzomyia migonei (3%) were captured. The hourly activity of Lu. neivai was mainly nocturnal, with a bimodal pattern in both months. In January, the variable that most influenced the abundance of Lu. neivai was the temperature, whereas in April, that variable was humidity. These results may contribute to the design of anti-vectorial control measures at a micro-focal scale.  相似文献

Thermal tolerance of Photosystem II (PSII) highly influences plant distribution worldwide because it allows for photosynthesis during periods of high temperatures and water stress, which are common in most terrestrial ecosystems and particularly in dry and semi-arid ones. However, there is a lack of information about how this tolerance influences invasiveness of exotic species in ecosystems with seasonal drought. To address this question for Mediterranean-type ecosystems (MTE) of the Iberian Peninsula, we carried out an experiment with fifteen phylogenetically related species (8 invasive and 7 native, Pinus pinaster Ait., Pinus radiata D. Don, Schinus molle Linn., Elaeagnus angustifolia L., Eucalyptus globulus Labill., Acacia melanoxylon R. Br., Gleditsia triacanthos L., Pistacia terebinthus L., Rhamnus alaternus L., Anagyris foetida L., Colutea arborescens L., Oenothera biennis L., Epilobium hirsutum L., Achillea filipendulina Lam. and Achillea millefolium L). Seedlings were grown and maximal photochemical efficiency of PSII (Fv/Fm) was measured at two water availabilities (well-watered and with water stress). PSII thermal tolerance measurements were related to specific leaf area (SLA), which varied significantly across the study species, and to the mean potential evapotranspiration (PET) of the month with the lowest precipitation in the native areas of both groups and in the invaded area of the Iberian Peninsula. Additionally, PSII thermal tolerance measurements under water stress were phylogenetically explored. Invasive and native species neither differed in SLA nor in their thermal tolerance under well-watered conditions. For well-watered plants, SLA was significantly and positively related to PSII thermal tolerance when all species were explored together regardless of their invasive nature. However, this relationship did not persist under water stress and invasive species had higher plastic responses than Mediterranean natives resulting in higher leaf temperatures. Higher PSII thermal tolerance could explain invasiveness because it allows for longer periods of carbon acquisition under water stress. In fact, PSII thermal tolerance was positively related to the PET of the invaded and native areas of the Iberian Peninsula. PSII thermal tolerance was not related to PET at the native range of the invasive species, suggesting that successful invasive species were plastic enough to cope with novel dry conditions of the Iberian Peninsula. Moreover, our phylogenetic results indicate that future scenarios of increased aridity in MTE associated to climate change will filter invasion success by taxonomic identity. This study reveals the importance of studying ecophysiological traits to understand and better predict future biological invasions.  相似文献

Nearly 40 years ago, the Sagawa laboratory spawned a renaissance in the use of instantaneous ventricular pressure-volume (P-V) relations to assess cardiac function. Since then, this analysis has taken hold as the most comprehensive way to quantify ventricular chamber function and energetics and cardiovascular interactions. First studied in large mammalian hearts and later in humans employing a catheter-based method, P-V analysis was translated to small rodents in the late 1990s by the Kass laboratory. Over the past decade, this approach has become a gold standard for comprehensive examination of in vivo cardiac function in mice, facilitating a new era of molecular cardiac physiology. The catheter-based method remains the most widely used approach in mice. In this brief review, we discuss this instrumentation, the theory behind its use, and how volume signals are calibrated and discuss elements of P-V analysis. The goal is to provide a convenient summary of earlier investigations and insights for users whose primary interests lie in genetic/molecular studies rather than in biomedical engineering.  相似文献

Two COS mixtures and a low molecular weight chitosan (LMWC) were tested for potential cytotoxicity and genotoxicity upon human lymphocytes. Genotoxicity was evaluated in vitro by cytokinesis-blocked micronucleus and alkaline comet assays, while cytotoxicity was assessed by flow cytometry analysis. Our results suggest that COS do not exhibit any genotoxicity upon human lymphocytes, independently of MW or concentration. However, above 0.07 mg/mL COS induced strong cytotoxic effects. According to the concentration used, such cytotoxicity will induce cell death, essentially by necrosis (>0.10 mg/mL) and/or apoptosis (<0.10 mg/mL). The level of necrosis/apoptosis induced by high COS concentrations, suggests a promising use as apoptosis inducers in specific cancer situations.  相似文献
