1. 1.|The germination of tomato “C38” seeds exposed to periodical white incandescent light occurs from 6.0° ± 0.2°C to 37.5° ± 0.2°C, being rate-limited for 10.3° T 25.9°C, and elsewhere limited by the germination capacity.

2. 2.|Rate averages are linearly T-dependent outside their optimum range (25.9° T 29.5°C) and rate variances are typically heterogeneous.

3. 3.|The smooth curvilinear Arrhenius plot indicates that diffusion processes cannot be rate-limiting outside the interval 25.9° T 29.5°C, whereas phase transitions and (or) transconformation of proteins may limit the rate above 34.9°C and, by opposite effects, below 15.3°C.

Ten nephroblastomas were investigated by antibodies to intermediate filaments. In seven cases, which in light microscopy were characterized by the presence of blastema and tubules, immunofluorescence microscopy with IF-specific antibodies reveals expression of cytokeratin and vimentin in blastema cells, while tubules were only labelled by the cytokeratin antibodies. This result was independent of whether the conventional cytokeratin antibody or monoclonal antibodies specific for cytokeratin 18 were used. Stroma cells were vimentin-positive. In two cases nephroblastomas were undifferentiated and also lacked tubuli formation. In both these tumors blastema cells were vimentin-positive and cytokeratin-negative. Finally one case of clear cell sarcoma of the kidney could only be labelled by the vimentin antibody. Thus antibodies to intermediate filaments seem to be useful tools to distinguish nephroblastomas from neuroblastomas or rhabdomyosarcomas, especially in cases of metastasis.  相似文献

The Munnopsidae are a diverse group of asellote isopods that are an important component of deep‐sea fauna. Morphologically‐based phylogenetic inference attempts have proven to be of limited use due to the ecological and morphological diversity within the clade. Monophyly of the family is well‐established but relationships within the group remain unresolved. This project is the first molecularly‐based effort focused specifically on resolving phylogenetic relationships within the Munnopsidae. Partial 28S and COI and complete 18S genes were sequenced for 28 asellotes, 15 additional taxa were included from which only one or two of the three target sequences could be obtained, and 18S sequences for five additional taxa were available from GenBank. Sequences were analysed both as individual genes and in combination using Bayesian and maximum parsimony approaches. Each gene provided a phylogenetic signal that could be identified in the combined analyses, with 18S analyses providing the most resolution of phylogenetic relationships. The available representatives of subfamilies Munnopsinae and Ilyarachninae were monophyletic, as was the genus Munneurycope. Relationships within the subfamily Munnopsinae were well‐resolved by thorough taxon sampling, several new species were placed, and the need for taxonomic revision of Munnopsis/Munnopsoides was supported. These analyses supported putative Eurycope paraphyly and emphasized the need for careful revision of this highly variable genus. Tytthocope was sister to Munnopsurus. Syneurycope was suggested as the sister group to the ilyarachnines. Combined analyses provided increased support for clades suggested in at least two individual gene analyses and for clades not strongly contradicted by individual analyses. Further work is required to fully resolve the munnopsid phylogeny and should consist of increased taxon sampling for the complete 18S sequence and possibly identification of at least one slowly evolving, nuclear protein‐coding gene to resolve the basal polytomy and enable placement of the root.  相似文献

A weak and emaciated California sea otter (Enhydra lutris) was found stranded on Atascadero Beach in Morro Bay, California. It died three weeks after capture. A diagnosis of coccidioidomycosis was confirmed by histology, serology and culture. This is believed to be the first reported case of this disease from the Morro Bay area of San Luis Obispo County, California as well as the first reported case in a free-ranging marine mammal.  相似文献

The freshwater green algaHaematococcus pluvialis (Strain Vischer 1923/2) grows best at high nitrate concentrations (about 0.5 to 1.0 g 1–1 KNO3), intermediate phosphate concentration (about 0.1 g 1–1 K2HPO4) and over a wide range of Fe concentrations. Low nitrate or high phosphate induce the formation of reddish palmella cells and aplanospores. Mixotrophic growth with acetate improves growth rate and final cell yield, and also stimulates the formation of the astaxanthin-containing palmella cells and aplanospores.H. pluvialis cannot grow above about 28 °C, or above a salinity of approximately 1% w/v NaCl. An increase in temperature or the addition of NaCl also stimulates the formation of palmella cells and aplanospores.  相似文献

Nuclei isolated from myxamoebae and differentiating cells (slug stage) of Dictyostelium discoideum contain similar ratios of DNA, RNA and protein (1:8:29) and acid soluble proteins present in amounts equal in weight to the nuclear DNA can be extracted therefrom. On urea polyacrylamide gels these basic proteins were shown to be very similar with the exception of one band, present in the myxamoebae, which was virtually absent from the differentiating cells.  相似文献

The cell envelope fraction of Salmonella typhimurium contains an enzyme system which catalyzes transfer of 3-deoxyoctulosonate (KDO) from CMP-KDO to an incomplete, KDO-deficient precursor of lipid A. The enzyme system is firmly membrane-bound, but has been solubilized by treatment with nonionic detergent at alkaline pH and partially purified. Both the particulate and partially purified fractions catalyzed formation of a single reaction product containing 2 residues of KDO. Periodate oxidation of the purified product permitted tentative identification of the KDO disaccharide structure as KDO2-4KDO.  相似文献
