Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) was used to investigate the Tempyo spin label (3-carbamoyl-2,2,5,5-tetramethyl-3-pyrrolin-1-yloxy) as a report group for the interactions and the conformational changes of lyophilized bovine serum albumin (BSA) and bovine hemoglobin (BH), as function of pH values in the range 2.5-11. The EPR spectra are similar with those of other non-covalently spin label porphyrins in frozen solution at very low temperatures. This behavior indicated a possible spin-spin interaction between the hemic iron and the nitroxide group. The changes in the EPR spectra as function of the pH are discussed in terms of conformational changes of the proteins. Spectral simulations and magnetic EPR parameters reveal the following: (i) one single paramagnetic species, with Gaussian line shape, was used for the best fits of experimental spectra in the case of serum albumin samples; and (ii) a weighted sum of Lorentzian and Gaussian line shape in the case of hemoglobin samples. The representation of correlation time vs. pH, reveals a dependence of degree of immobilization of spin label on the conformational changes of proteins in acidic and basic environment. 相似文献

The genus Satureja is represented by fifteen species of which five are endemic and Satureja pilosa and S. icarica have recently been found as new records for Turkey. Aerial parts of the Satureja pilosa, S. icarica, S. boissieri and S. coerulea collected from different localities in Turkey were subjected to hydrodistillation to yield essential oils which were subsequently analysed by GC and GC/MS. The main constituents of the oils were identified, and both antibacterial and antifungal bioassays were applied. Carvacrol (59.2%, 44.8%, 42.1%) was the main component in the oils of S. icarica, S. boissieri and S. pilosa, respectively. The oil of S. coerulea contained beta-caryophyllene (10.6%) and caryophyllene oxide (8.0%) as main constituents. 相似文献

The chemical composition of the brown alga Cystoseira crinita Bory from the Eastern Mediterranean was investigated. Fourteen sterols have been identified, five of them for the first time in algae. The structure of one new sterol was established. The origin of seven sterols with short side chains was discussed. The objective of this study was to investigate effects of oil supplements on the composition of fatty acids (FA), especially of trans11-C18:1 (vaccenic acid, TVA) and cis9, trans11-C18:2 conjugated linoleic acid (c9,t11-CLA), in bacterial (BF) and protozoal (PF) fractions of rumen fluid of sheep that was fractionated centrifugation. Four sheep were fed a diet consisting of meadow hay (960 g dry matter (DM)/day) and of barley grain (240 g DM/day), with sunflower oil (SO), rapeseed oil (RO) or linseed oil (LO) as supplements (60 g/day) in a Latin square design. The oils were used as they are rich in linoleic acid (SO, 533 g/kg of FA), oleic acid (RO, 605 g/kg of FA) and α-linolenic acid (LO, 504 g/kg of FA). Compared to the control (i.e., without oils), oil supplements influenced the concentration of unsaturated (UFA) and saturated fatty acids (SFA). In both BF and PF, the main fatty acids were palmitic and stearic, but PF contained a higher proportion of TVA and c9,t11-CLA than BF. In PF, TVA concentrations, ranked by oil supplement, were SO > RO > LO > Control (174, 150, 118, 74 g/kg of FA, respectively) and the c9,t11-CLA concentrations were RO > SO > LO > Control (59, 51, 27 and 15 g/kg of FA, respectively). Concentrations of c9,t11-CLA in PF were two to three times higher than in BF with all the oil supplements versus the control. Oil treatments impacted the c9,t11-CLA concentration in the fractions, especially SO and RO. The protozoal fraction contained a higher proportion of TVA and c9,t11-CLA than did the bacterial fraction, and dietary addition of SO, RO and LO resulted in a higher incorporation of TVA into both bacterial and protozoal microbial fractions, which probably positively affected TVA flow from the rumen. 相似文献

The essential‐oil compositions of one Croatian and three Serbian populations of Juniperus deltoides R.P.Adams have been determined by GC/MS analysis. In total, 147 compounds were identified, representing 97.3–98.3% of the oil composition. The oils were dominated by monoterpenes, which are characteristic components for the species of the section Juniperus. Two monoterpenes, α‐pinene and limonene, were the dominant constituents, with a summed‐up average content of 49.45%. Statistical methods were used to determine the diversity of the terpene classes and the common terpenes between the newly described J. deltoides populations from Serbia and Croatia. Only reports on several specimens from this species have been reported so far, and there are no studies that treat population diversity. Cluster analysis of the oil contents of 21 terpenes showed high correlation with the geographical distribution of the populations, separating the Croatian from the Serbian populations. The comparison of the essential‐oil compositions obtained in the present study with literature data, showed the separation of J. deltoides and J. oxycedrus ssp. oxycedrus from the western Mediterranean region. 相似文献

Theta oscillations are related to cognitive functions and reflect functional integration of frontal and medial temporal structures into coherent neurocognitive networks. This study assessed event-related theta oscillations in medication-free, euthymic patients with bipolar disorder upon auditory oddball paradigm. Twenty-two DSM-IV euthymic bipolar I (n = 19) and II (n = 3) patients and twenty-two healthy subjects were included. Patients were euthymic for at least 6 months, and psychotropic-free for at least 2 weeks. EEG was recorded at 30 electrode sites. Auditory oddball paradigm and sensory stimuli were used. Event-related Oscillations were analyzed using adaptive filtering in two different theta frequency bands (4–6 Hz, 6–8 Hz). In healthy subjects, slow theta (4–6 Hz) responses were significantly higher than those of euthymic patients upon target, non-target and sensory stimuli (p < 0.05). Fast theta (6–8 Hz) responses of healthy subjects were significantly higher than those of euthymic patients upon target-only stimuli (p < 0.05). Reduced theta oscillations during auditory processing provide strong quantitative evidence of activation deficits in related networks in bipolar disorder. Fast theta responses are related to cognitive functions, whereas slow theta responses are related to sensory processes more than cognitive processes. 相似文献

Background A spider monkey with severe dyspnea was referred to our clinic. Methods and Results Radiographs revealed an enlarged cardiac silhouette. Ventricular tachycardia and ST segment depression were also diagnosed after an ECG. These findings coupled with the postmortem examination confirmed dilatative cardiomyopathy. Conclusions This case is worthy of presentation since dilatative cardiomyopathy has been rarely encountered in spider monkeys. 相似文献

Abstract The present paper describes two new species of Microgaster Latreille, 1804, viz: M. longiterebra sp. nov. (♂) and M. longicaudatus sp. nov. (♂). M. longiterebra sp. nov. is described from Kunming, Yunnan Prov. in China closely related to M. subcompletus, but differs from the latter in the combination of the following features: 1) APOL as long as OD; 2) Mesonotum strongly punctate on anterior 2/ 3) r shorter than width of stigma; 4) cu‐a of hind wing medially curved; 5) Apex of hypopygium ending far beyond apex of abdomen. M. longicaudatus sp. nov. is described from Tianmushan, Zhejiang Prov. in China closely related to M. ductilis, but differs from the latter in the combination of the following features: 1) middle and hind femora reddish yellow only with apical 1/4 blackish; 2) 1‐SR 0.5 times as long as 1‐M; 3) the hairy part of ovipositor sheath 0.5 times as long as hind tibia; 4) tergite 3 with slightly weaker rugosity. Historically, medical concerns about the deleterious effects of closely inbred marriages have focused on the risk posed by recessive Mendelian disease, with much less attention to developmental instability. We studied the effects of inbreeding (first‐cousin marriage) on growth and fluctuating asymmetry of 200 full‐term infants (101 inbred and 99 outbred) whose parents were of similar socioeconomic status in Sivas Province, Turkey. In addition to differences in their mean inbreeding coefficients (f = 1/16 for first cousins and f < 1/1,024 for unrelated parents), the consanguineous parents were less well educated (3 years, on average for both husbands and wives). We measured weight, height, head circumference, and chest circumference of the newborns, as well as four bilateral traits (ear width, ear length, and second and fourth digit lengths). After taking education into account, none of the measures of size (weight, height, head circumference, and chest circumference) and fluctuating asymmetry differed between the inbred and outbred groups. Male children of well‐educated parents, however, were larger and had less fluctuating asymmetry. Female children of well‐educated parents weighed more than those of less well‐educated parents, but were otherwise indistinguishable for height, head circumference, chest circumference, and fluctuating asymmetry. We conclude that inbreeding depression causes neither an increase in fluctuating asymmetry of full‐term newborns, nor a decrease in body size. Unmeasured variables correlated with education appear to have an effect on fluctuating asymmetry and size of male children and only a weak effect on size (weight) of female children.
