The gene frequencies were calculated to investigate genetic variation apparent in blood group and serum protein systems in Asian native pigs. The results revealed that gene frequencies were generally similar in the nine pig populations, except in some systems. Differences of gene frequencies were recognized in HpY and Cpc detected on Taoyuan pigs of Taiwan and Ohmini pigs of Japan, respectively. TfC and AmC alleles were found in eight pig populations except Ohmini pigs.
The overall genetic distances were calculated by gene frequencies of 13 loci and it was observed that Taoyuan pigs are closer to Ohmini pigs than to Short-ear pigs of Taiwan and other East Asian native pigs. However, the genetic distances between Asian native pigs and European or American breeds were larger than those among East Asian native pig populations.  相似文献

Two patients with post-partum transient thyrotoxicosis associated with painless thyroiditis and low radioactive iodine uptake were described. The surreptitious use of thyroid hormones or iodine was excluded. Although the clinical course was compatible with that of subacute thyroiditis, passing through the hyperthyroid, euthyroid, hypothyroid and recovery phase, the patients showed a sustained elevation of serum anti-thyroglobulin antibody titer during the entire phase of the disease. Moreover, the histological findings obtained by the thyroid biopsy performed in a case were characteristic of chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis. Furthermore, it was of interest that the disease recurred following every delivery in 2 cases, suggesting the possible role of immunological changes induced by pregnancy and delivery in the etiology of this disease.  相似文献

Sleep disturbances are associated with various metabolic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes. We had previously established a mouse model of a psychophysiological stress-induced chronic sleep disorder (CSD) characterized by disrupted circadian rhythms of wheel-running activity, core body temperature, and sleep-wake cycles. To evaluate the underlying mechanisms of metabolic disorders induced by CSD, we created mice with CSD for six weeks and fed them with a high-fat diet. Glucose intolerance with hyperglycemia resulted, although plasma insulin levels and body weight increases were identical between control and CSD mice. Gluconeogenesis and glycolysis were enhanced and suppressed, respectively, in the livers of CSD mice, because the mRNA expression of Pck1 was significantly increased, whereas that of Gck and Pklr were significantly decreased in the CSD mice. Adipose inflammation induced by the high-fat diet seemed suppressed by the CSD, because the mRNA expression levels of Adgre1, Ccl2, and Tnf were significantly downregulated in the adipose tissues of CSD mice. These findings suggest that CSD impair glucose tolerance by inducing gluconeogenesis and suppressing glycolysis. Hyperphasia with hypoleptinemia, hypercorticosteronemia, and increased plasma free fatty acids might be involved in the impaired glucose metabolism under a CSD. Further studies are needed to elucidate the endocrine and molecular mechanisms underlying the associations between sleep disorders and impaired glucose homeostasis that consequently causes diabetes.  相似文献

The physicochemical characteristics and cytotoxicity of two types of commercial nickel oxide particles (black and green nickel oxide) and five types of nickel oxide particles prepared by calcination of the black nickel oxide at 600–1000°C were studied. Thermal analysis with mass spectroscopy showed that the black nickel oxide particles contained approximately 1.4% impurity, which seemed to be basic nickel carbonate. The calcination treatment at 600°C increased the nickel content and decreased the oxygen content, but these remained constant in the particles treated at higher temperatures (700–1000°C) and in the green nickel oxide particles. The water solubility of black nickel oxide particles was markedly greater than that of the other particles, especially in the first 24 h after mixing with water. The solubility of the calcined particles decreased with increasing calcination temperature. The cytotoxicity of these particles was evaluated by the viability of rat alveolar macrophages and by the inhibition of cell proliferation in Chinese hamster ovary cells. The black nickel oxide was the most cytotoxic of the particles examined, and this may be attributable, at least in part, to a rapid dissolution of nickel from the contained impurity. The toxicity of the calcined particles decreased with increasing calcination temperature. These results indicate that water solubility, which depends on calcination temperature, modulates the acute cytotoxicity of nickel oxide particles.  相似文献

Intracisternal injection of bethanidine in rats decreased brain norepinephrine turnover without affecting its endogenous level, and increased both cardiac norepinephrine turnover and serum corticosterone level. A negative correlation was observed between brain norepinephrine turnover rate and serum corticosterone level. On the other hand, when cardiac norepinephrine turnover was suppressed by intraperitoneal injection of bethanidine, serum corticosterone did not change significantly. Next, ether inhalation was added after intracisternal injection of bethanidine. Then, serum corticosterone increased more even brain norepinephrine turnover was suppressed only slightly. These data may indicate that serum corticosterone increases by selective decrease in brain norepinephrine turnover via the humoral route; from the hypothalamus down to the adrenal cortex. Inversely, intracisternal injection of corticosterone increased brain norepinephrine turnover. These results suggest that brain norepinephrine may play an inhibitory role in the tonic regulation of CRF-ACTH secretion in the higher center than the hypothalamus and there may be a closed-loop feedback system between brain norepinephrine and serum corticosterone.  相似文献

The avian pineal organ contains several types of photoreceptors with different photopigments: rhodopsin, iodopsin, and pinopsin. We have previously examined the differentiation of both rhodopsin-like and iodopsin-like immunoreactive cells during pineal development in quail embryos to determine the onset of synthesis of specific proteins and their cellular localization. In the present study, we have performed pinopsin immunohistochemistry on in-vivo developing and in-vitro cultured pineal organs of quail embryos. The results were compared with those obtained with rhodopsin and iodopsin immunohistochemistry. In the developing pineal organs, pinopsin immunoreactivity was detected at embryonic day 8, i.e. five days earlier than rhodopsin-like and iodopsin-like immunoreactivities. It was localized exclusively in the protrusions extending into the lumen throughout development, whereas rhodopsin-like and iodopsin-like immunoreactivities were usually found both in cell bodies and processes. These differences were also observed under two different types of culture conditions (dissociated cell culture and organ culture) indicating that, in the avian pineal organ, the expression pattern of the pinopsin gene is basically different from those of the other two pineal photopigments. The present study suggests that pineal cells have a mechanism for the polarized transport of pinopsin molecules.  相似文献

Following treatment of mouse erythroleukemia (MEL) cells with dimethyl sulfoxide and other typical erythroid inducing agents, the profile of cellular phosphotyrosine-containing proteins was drastically altered. We found that the level of almost all of the phosphotyrosine-containing proteins was either decreased or disappeared at a very early stage of differentiation. Addition of sodium orthovanadate (Na3VO4), a specific inhibitor of phosphotyrosine phosphatases, prevented the alteration as well as erythroid differentiation. Mutant MEL cells, which are resistant to differentiation by dimethyl sulfoxide, were apparently insensitive to the alteration. These results indicate that dephosphorylation of phosphotyrosine residues in cellular proteins is coupled with a reaction(s) which is responsible for triggering differentiation of MEL cells.  相似文献
