Ducellieria chodati
Teiling is an organism rarely mentioned from plankton samples. Its propagation was unknown, and all earlier authors have failed to see that it is a colourless organism. Because of its structure and some chemical reactions,Ducellieria was thought to be a member of theXanthophyceae. Many living coenobia ofD. chodati from several Austrian lakes and some steps of their reproduction have been studied: Zoospores with two unequal flagella are released. After a mobile phase they settle on coniferous pollen grains drifting in water. Inside the pollen grain, a tube or flask is developed from which zoospores are released again after one or two days. These aggregate to form newDucellieria coenobia. These observations suggest thatDucellieria chodati belongs to thePhycomycetes, perhaps to theSaprolegniales.

Summary Dose and phase response curves for phase shifting the circadian oscillator in the dinoflagellateGonyaulax polyedra were measured with pulses of the antibiotic anisomycin (an inhibitor of protein synthesis on 80 S ribosomes), using the bioluminescent glow rhythm as the assay. The three dimensional surface of final phase, initial phase, and concentration was found to be a right handed helix, with the axis at a critical initial phase near circadian time 12 h, and critical concentration near 0.2 micromolar anisomycin (for 1 h pulses). The normally rhythmic glow of populations ofGonyaulax was significantly disrupted by pulses with these critical parameters, and in many instances appeared nearly arrhythmic.With increasing drug concentration, phase response curves appear to move bodily to earlier phases, and no saturation is evident in the phase shifting effect. These results are interpreted as indicating that anisomycin at sufficiently high doses causes an immediate strong (type 0) phase shift, then holds the clock stationary for a time interval that increases with concentration.the possibility that the 80 S ribosomal complex may be centrally involved in the fundamental circadian oscillation is put forward.Abbreviations

The comparative protein composition of L-cell messenger ribonucleo-proteins (mRNPs) was studied as a function of mRNP isolation methodology. Proteins with approximate molecular weights of 75,000, 50,000, 46,000 and 34,000 were common to mRNPs prepared by three methods: (1) isopycnic gradient centrifugation in Cs2SO4, (2) binding to poly(U)-glass fiber filters, or (3) oligo-deoxythmidylate cellulose chromatography. 相似文献
