We present molecular evidence that Neumann’s Warbler Hemitesia neumanni is deeply nested within the Cettiidae. The species’ distribution in the Albertine Rift of East Africa is intriguing, as the family Cettiidae is principally an Asian radiation. This disjunct distribution could be a result of colonization of Africa by long‐distance dispersal, or the Cettiidae may at some point in the past have had a much larger geographical distribution that also covered parts of Africa.  相似文献

In the presence of intact roots of 2-week-old axenic rape seedlings, added N, N', N', N'-tetraacetylchitotetraose was degradedto N, N'-diacetylchitobiose during 48 h of incubation. Onlyminute amounts of monomer (N-acetyglucosamine) were formed fromadded chitotetraose or chitobiose. The addition of a purifiedchitin suspension caused no measurable formation of degradationproducts. The formation of chitobiose from added chitotetraose was linear, suggesting the action of a constitutive enzyme during the incubationperiod. Key words: Brassica napus (L.) cv. Brink, rhizosphere, N, N'-diacetylchitobiose, N,N',N',N', tetraacetylchitotetraose  相似文献

Acetone extracts of sapwood and reaction zone of spruce roots attacked by Fomes annosus, collected in February, June and October, were separated into resinous and phenolic fractions. The fractions were further separated by column, thin layer and gas liquid chromatography, followed by biological tests, using Fomes annosus and other rot fungi. The reaction zone contained quantitatively less light petroleum soluble compounds than the sapwood but more acids. The phenolic content was about ten times higher in the reaction zone than in the sapwood. Nine lignans and one simple phenol (4-methylcatechol) were identified and quantitatively estimated in the reaction zone. The resinous fraction of the extract from the reaction zone as well as some of the lignans and 4-methylcatechol inhibited fungal growth, in some cases followed by detoxification and continued growth. The predominant lignan, hydroxymatairesinol, had no effect on Fomes annosus or five other wood degrading fungi. About 15 unidentified phenols were observed, some of them probably of importance as inhibitors, either alone or in combination with other phenols.  相似文献

Odor perception within olfactory neuroepithelium and pigment translocation within melanophores both seem to rely on a cAMP-based second messenger system. From studies on cultured frog melanophores, Lerner et al. (Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 85:261-264, 1988) suggested that some aspect of odor perception may be mediated by a nonspecific mechanism whose signal is transduced by a cAMP-based second messenger system. In the present study, odorants (β-ionone, benzylaldehyde, cineole, cinnamaldehyde, and octanol), which previously have been shown to stimulate formation of cAMP in the olfactory neuroepithelium, were investigated for possible pigment dispersing and cAMP-increasing effects. Pretreatment of fish melanophores with the adenylate cyclase activator forskolin (1 μM) resulted in an approximately 300% increase in cAMP and an almost complete blockage of noradrenaline-induced pigment aggregation. However, none of the tested odorants were able to increase the cAMP level and only cinnaldehyde and β-ionone were found to have any pigment dispersing activity.  相似文献
