A procedure for extracting eggs of Meloidogyne spp. from soil was developed by modifying and combining certain existing techniques. Egg masses were elutriated from the soft, gelatinous matrices of the egg masses were dissolved, and the dispersed eggs were stained to facilitate counting. Data on egg population densities thus obtained facilitate the study of population dynamics of Meloidogyne spp. and the analysis of root-knot epidemics.  相似文献

Summary This paper describes newly identified excitatory connections linking the segmentally iterated swim-initiator interneurons with the network of oscillator neurons that generates the leech swimming rhythm. Apparently monosynaptic excitatory chemical connections are made from one class of swim-initiator neurons (cells 204/205) to several members of the swim oscillator network, including cells 28, 115 and, as described by Weeks (1982c), cell 208. A second class of swim-initiator neurons, cells 21 and 61, also excites this subset of the oscillator neurons. The unpaired swim oscillator neuron, cell 208, also chemically excites cells 28 and 115, apparently directly. Thus, in addition to its role as a member of the swim oscillator, the excitatory output from cell 208 to the swim oscillator adds to that provided by the swim-initiator neurons. The results of this paper enlarge the subset of identified swim oscillator neurons synaptically excited by the swim-initiator neurons. These newly described targets of the swim-initiators strengthen the hypotheses that: 1) the swim-initiator neurons supply much of the tonic excitatory drive responsible for activation and maintenance of the swim central motor program, and 2) the two classes of swim-initiators, cells 204/205 and cells 21/61, act synergistically to initiate and maintain swimming.Abbreviations EPSP excitatory postsynaptic potential - IPSP inhibitory postsynaptic potential - CNS central nervous system  相似文献

Recent studies have revealed presynaptic influences on neurones that participate in rhythmic motor patterns. Although there is still little direct information about the effects of these inputs at presynaptic terminals, their functional consequences are being unraveled. These presynaptic influences gate sensory input to pattern-generating networks and locally alter the synaptic strength and/or the activity pattern of network neurones.  相似文献

Summary The distribution of substance P-like immunoreactivity in the stomatogastric nervous systems of three decapod crustacean species, Cancer borealis, Homarus americanus, and Panulirus interruptus, was studied. The stomatogastric ganglion showed dense staining in the neuropil, but none in the somata. A single neuron stained in the esophageal ganglion. Lucifer yellow backfills and intracellular injections followed by incubation with the substance P antibody showed that the axons of this neuron project into the inferior esophageal nerves towards the paired commissural ganglia. The commissural ganglia showed a pronounced projection from a large bundle of fibers in the anterior medial portion of the circumesophageal connective. Additionally, less dense neuropil and stained somata were seen in the commissural ganglia. Staining was completely blocked by preabsorption with authentic substance P, physalaemin, eledoisin, and substance K. These data suggest that in the nervous system of crustacean species a molecule with C-terminal homology to substance P and other tachykinins is released as a neuroregulator in the stomatogastric ganglion.  相似文献

Background

Bioinformatics is confronted with a new data explosion due to the availability of high throughput DNA sequencers. Data storage and analysis becomes a problem on local servers, and therefore it is needed to switch to other IT infrastructures. Grid and workflow technology can help to handle the data more efficiently, as well as facilitate collaborations. However, interfaces to grids are often unfriendly to novice users.  相似文献

Background

The synthesis of microRNA (miRNA) is a multi-step process that requires the action of the ribonuclease Dicer1. Dicer1 is responsible for the final processing of miRNA and has been implicated in cellular processes such as proliferation, apoptosis, and differentiation. Mouse embryos lacking Dicer1 die in early embryogenesis. In this study, we investigated whether Dicer1 is required for development of adrenal, testis, and ovary in mouse embryos.  相似文献
