Red-breasted goose colonies have been studied near Medusa Bay (73°21′N, 80°32′E), on the northwestern Taimyr Peninsula, and along the Agapa River (70°11′N, 86°15′E) down to its mouth (71°26′N, 89° 13′E), in the central Taimyr Peninsula. Red-breasted geese nesting near peregrine falcons are protected by the falcons from arctic foxes; however, they are sometimes attacked by the falcons themselves. In the colonies near peregrine falcon nests, the vast majority of goose nests were situated no farther than 100 m from the falcon nest. When food is abundant, falcons protect a larger area around their nest. The distance between the falcon nest and the surrounding goose nests is inversely related to the falcon’s activity. In years of higher falcon activity, falcons prevent red-breasted geese from nesting as close to their nest as in years of lower falcon activity. Additional stimuli are required for red-breasted geese to form colonies near rough-legged buzzard nests. The distance between snowy owl nests and red-breasted goose nests was smaller when arctic foxes were abundant than when they were scarce.  相似文献

Chicken gizzard tropomyosin was digested with carboxypeptidase A at the weight ratios of enzyme to substrate 1:200 and 1:50. Removal of about 16 C-terminal amino acid residues per tropomyosin molecule, at lower enzyme concentration, caused reversion of the effect on skeletal actomyosin ATPase activity from activating to inhibiting without an influence on polymerizability and actin-binding ability. Removal of about 26 C-terminal amino acid residues per molecule, at higher enzyme concentration, resulted in loss of polymerizability and actin binding ability. Digestion of gizzard tropomyosin with carboxypeptidase A has no dramatic effect on its binding to troponin T. The results show that not only the existence of head-to-tail overlapping regions but also their length is important for the functional properties of chicken gizzard tropomyosin.  相似文献

Adrenal quarters from adult male or female hamsters were incubated in the presence of melatonin (10(-7) or 10(-4)M), and cortisol concentration in the incubation medium was assayed by RIA. Melatonin did not change cortisol output by adrenals obtained from the male hamsters, while a slight stimulatory effect was observed in female glands, the lower concentration of melatonin being more effective than the higher one. At both concentrations tested, melatonin notably stimulated corticosterone output by isolated rat adrenocortical cells derived from the males, and lowered corticosterone secretion by the cells obtained from the female glands only at a concentration of 10(-7) M. The lower concentration of melatonin increased ACTH (0.1 mU.ml-1)-stimulated corticosterone output by the cells of male and female rat adrenals. The pineal hormone was ineffective at a concentration of 10(-4) M, as well as in the presence of a higher dose of ACTH (1.0 mU.ml-1). These findings indicate a distinct sex-dependent effect of melatonin on in vitro cortisol and corticosterone production, and demonstrate that the modulatory effect of melatonin of the secretion of steroid hormones is more effective at lower concentrations.  相似文献

急性脑梗死约占全部脑卒中的70%,病死率和致残率高,且极易复发。但目前针对急性脑梗死在时间窗内溶栓、抗凝等治疗手段不能从根本上切实有效地修复受损脑组织,且伴有出血等风险。寻找脑梗死形成发展的原因并予以治疗迫在眉睫。酸中毒是引起缺血性脑损伤的重要机制。大量实验研究表明,酸中毒能加重神经元的缺血性损伤,且其梗死面积与酸中毒的程度直接相关。但缺血产生的酸中毒如何引起神经元损伤的确切机制尚不明确。最近研究发现酸中毒能激活一种在中枢及周围神经中广泛存在的膜通道,即酸敏感离子通道,它对Ca2+通透,能引起细胞内Ca2+超载,同时能激活胞内酶引起细胞内蛋白质、脂类及核酸的降解,加重缺血后脑损伤。本文就酸敏感离子通道1a与脑梗死做一综述。  相似文献

At pH 7.0 and physiological concentrations of the main regulatory ligands (ATP, ADP, orthophosphate), human uterine muscle AMP-deaminase follows a hyperbolic type of saturation kinetics with S0.5 parameter value about 2 mM. The enzyme is regulated by adenylate energy charge (AEC) variations, being the most active at the AEC value 0.5-0.6 or 0.5-0.7, depending on the size of the total adenine nucleotide pool. Long-chain acyl-CoA strongly inhibit activity of the enzyme, influencing mainly the maximum velocity of the reaction.  相似文献

Erythrocytes from healthy men were examined for the presence of complement (C3b) receptor using haemagglutination assay with human aggregated IgG (aggIgG) and guinea pig complement. The results were expressed as the intensity of haemagglutination that corresponded to the C3b receptor sites density as evidenced by radioimmunobinding results. Among normal men three phenotypes of complement receptor (CR) were distinguished: high (CRh/CRh) phenotype corresponding to strong agglutination, an intermediate (CRh/CRI) producing weak agglutination and low phenotype (CRI/CRI) that gave no agglutination. In a population of 517 normal men these three phenotypes occurred in 63.8, 30.6 and 5.6%, respectively. Frequencies of the genes responsible for high (CRh) and low (CRI) expression of erythrocyte C3b receptor were 0.791 and 0.209, respectively.  相似文献
