The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of rice porridge on the texture and viscoelastic properties of bread during storage. Three types of bread, wheat flour bread, 15% rice flour bread, and 15% rice porridge bread, were prepared. After baking and storing the bread for 24 h, 48 h, and 72 h at room temperature, we measured the texture and viscoelastic properties of the bread crumbs by texture profile analysis (TPA) and creep test. The 15% rice porridge bread showed a significantly higher specific volume and maintained softer crumbs than the other two types (p<0.05). It also had a slightly stickier texture than the others. It can be concluded that rice porridge improves the specific volume, texture, and viscoelastic properties of bread crumbs during storage. 相似文献

We study spatial stochastic epidemic models called households models. The households models have more than two states at each vertex of a graph in contrast to the contact process. We show that, in the households models on trees, two thresholds of infection rates characterize epidemics. The global critical infection rate is defined by epidemic occurrence. However, some households may be eventually disease-free even for infection rates above the global critical infection rate, in as far as they are smaller than the local critical point. Whether the global one is smaller than the local one depends on the graph and the model. We show that, in the households models, the global one is smaller than the local one on homogeneous trees. 相似文献

TRPA1 is a member of the transient receptor potential (TRP) cation channel family, and is predominantly expressed in nociceptive neurons of dorsal root ganglia (DRG) and trigeminal ganglia. Activation of TRPA1 by environmental irritants such as mustard oil, allicin and acrolein causes acute pain. However, the endogenous ligands that directly activate TRPA1 remain elusive in inflammation. Here, we show that a variety of inflammatory mediators (15-deoxy-Delta(12,14)-prostaglandin J(2) (15d-PGJ(2)), nitric oxide (NO), hydrogen peroxide (H(2)O(2)), and proton (H(+))) activate human TRPA1 heterologously expressed in HEK cells. These inflammatory mediators induced robust Ca(2+) influx in a subset of mouse DRG neurons. The TRP channel blocker ruthenium red almost completely inhibited neuronal responses by 15d-PGJ(2) and NO, but partially suppressed responses to H(2)O(2) and H(+). Functional characterization of site-directed cysteine mutants of TRPA1 in combination with labeling experiments using biotinylated 15d-PGJ(2) demonstrated that modifications of cytoplasmic N-terminal cysteines (Cys421 and Cys621) were responsible for the activation of TRPA1 by 15d-PGJ(2). In TRPA1 responses to other cysteine-reactive inflammatory mediators, such as NO and H(2)O(2), the extent of impairment by respective cysteine mutations differed from those in TRPA1 responses to 15d-PGJ(2). Interestingly, the Cys421 mutation critically impaired the TRPA1 response to H(+) as well. Our findings suggest that TRPA1 channels are targeted by an array of inflammatory mediators to elicit inflammatory pain in the nervous system. 相似文献

Spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) provide the foundation for spermatogenesis. In a manner comparable to hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, SSCs colonize the niche of recipient testes and reinitiate spermatogenesis following microinjection into the seminiferous tubules. However, little is known about the homing mechanism of SSCs. Here we examined the role of adhesion molecules in SSC homing. SSCs isolated from mice carrying loxP-tagged beta1-integrin alleles were ablated for beta1-integrin expression by in vitro adenoviral cre transduction. The beta1-integrin mutant SSCs showed significantly reduced ability to recolonize recipient testes in vivo and to attach to laminin molecules in vitro. In contrast, genetic ablation of E-cadherin did not impair homing, and E-cadherin mutant SSCs completed normal spermatogenesis. In addition, the deletion of beta1-integrin on Sertoli cells reduced SSC homing. These results identify beta1-integrin as an essential adhesion receptor for SSC homing and its association with laminin is critical in multiple steps of SSC homing. 相似文献

Nymphs of hemimetabolous insects, such as cockroaches and crickets, possess functional legs with a remarkable capacity for epimorphic regeneration. In this study, we have focused on the role of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signaling in regeneration of a nymphal leg in the cricket Gryllus bimaculatus. We performed loss-of-function analyses with a Gryllus Egfr homolog (Gb'Egfr) and nymphal RNA interference (RNAi). After injection of double-stranded RNA for Gb'Egfr in the body cavity of the third instar cricket nymph, amputation of the leg at the distal tibia resulted in defects of normal distal regeneration. The regenerated leg lacked the distal tarsus and pretarsus. This result indicates that EGFR signaling is required for distal leg patterning in regeneration during the nymphal stage of the cricket. Furthermore, we demonstrated that EGFR signaling acts downstream of the canonical Wnt/Wg signaling and regulates appendage proximodistal (PD) patterning genes aristaless and dachshund during regeneration. Our results suggest that EGFR signaling influences positional information along the PD axis in distal leg patterning of insects, regardless of the leg formation mode. 相似文献

To obtain insights into the mechanisms underlying the membrane excitation and contraction of cardiac myocytes, we developed a computer model of excitation–contraction coupling (Kyoto model: Jpn. J. Physiol. 53 (2003) 105). This model was further expanded by incorporating pivotal reactions of ATP metabolism; the model of mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation by Korzeniewski and Zoladz (Biophys. Chem. 92 (2001) 17). The ATP-dependence of contraction, and creatine kinase and adenylate kinase were also incorporated. After minor modifications, the steady-state condition was well established for all the variables, including the membrane potential, contraction, and the ion and metabolite concentrations in sarcoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria and cytoplasm. Concentrations of major metabolites were close to the experimental data. Responses of the new model to anoxia were similar to experimental results of the P-31 NMR study in whole heart. This model serves as a prototype for developing a more comprehensive model of excitation–contraction–metabolism coupling. 相似文献

We observed expression patterns of hedgehog (hh), wingless (wg), and decapentaplegic (dpp) during gut development of Gryllus bimaculatus (the cricket), a typical hemimetabolous insect, and compared with those observed in Drosophila, a typical holometabolous insect. Gryllus hh(Gbhh) and Gbwg are expressed in both foregut and hindgut, while Gbdpp is expressed only in the hindgut: at the boundaries between the small and large intestine, and between the large intestine and rectum. Although the expression patterns of Gbhh and Gbwg are essentially comparable to those observed in Drosophila, the expression pattern of Gbdpp differs from those of the Drosophila dpp. 相似文献

The pronghorn spiny lobster, Panulirus penicillatus, is a circumtropical species which has the widest global distribution among all the species of spiny lobster, ranging throughout the entire Indo-Pacific region. Partial nucleotide sequences of mitochondrial DNA COI (1,142-1,207 bp) and 16S rDNA (535-546 bp) regions were determined for adult and phyllosoma larval samples collected from the Eastern Pacific (EP)(Galápagos Islands and its adjacent water), Central Pacific (CP)(Hawaii and Tuamotu) and the Western Pacific (WP)(Japan, Indonesia, Fiji, New Caledonia and Australia). Phylogenetic analyses revealed two distinct large clades corresponding to the geographic origin of samples (EP and CP+WP). No haplotype was shared between the two regional samples, and average nucleotide sequence divergence (Kimura's two parameter distance) between EP and CP+WP samples was 3.8±0.5% for COI and 1.0±0.4% for 16S rDNA, both of which were much larger than those within samples. The present results indicate that the Pacific population of the pronghorn spiny lobster is subdivided into two distinct populations (Eastern Pacific and Central to Western Pacific), with no gene flow between them. Although the pronghorn spiny lobster have long-lived teleplanic larvae, the vast expanse of Pacific Ocean with no islands and no shallow substrate which is known as the East Pacific Barrier appears to have isolated these two populations for a long time (c.a. 1MY). 相似文献
