Aim: To determine if there is an association between the Chlamydia and Mycoplasma infections with socio-demographic and clinical factors, and also with infertility. Methods: We conducted a study on 100 infertile married women and 100 control group, and collected data on the socio-demographic, hormonal and tubo-ovarian factors. The results of the endocervical swabs were analyzed for Mycoplasma and Chlamydia infection, the bacterial counts were also determined. Results: The percentage positivity to infection was significantly more among the infertile group compared to the control group, and also significantly more among the age group <30 years old. The positivity for infection with Chlamydia and/or Mycoplasma was significantly correlated with age, history of irregular menstruation, and history of previous abortion. Further sub-analysis of the infertile group showed that positivity to Chlamydia and/or Mycoplasma infection was significantly correlated to hormonal factors, ovarian factors, irregular menstruation, and previous abortion. Regression analysis showed that hormonal, ovarian factors, and irregular menstruation were the most significant factors in the positivity to Chlamydia and Mycoplasma infection. Bacterial count was significantly correlated with age, history of irregular menstruation, and history of previous abortion. Conclusion: Infection to Chlamydia and Mycoplasma is associated to younger age (?30 years old), and occurs in the infertile women. There is an interplay between infection in younger women, irregular menstruation, hormonal, and tubo-ovarian factors with infertility. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are novel noncoding RNAs and play crucial roles in various biological processes. However, little is known about the functions of circRNAs in osteogenic differentiation. The current study aimed to investigate the differential expression of circRNAs in rat dental follicle cells (rDFCs) during osteogenic differentiation, identified by RNA high-throughput sequencing and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analyses were performed to further explore the biofunctions of circRNA biofunctions. Two hundred sixty-six differentially-expressed circRNAs that are involved in several important signaling pathways, including mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK) and transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) signaling pathways were revealed. Among these, circFgfr2 and its predicted downstream targets, miR-133 and BMP6 (bone morphogenetic protein-6), were identified both in vivo and in vitro. For further validation, circFgfr2 was overexpressed in rDFCs, the results showed that the expression of miR-133 was downregulated and the expression of BMP6 was upregulated. Taken together, the results revealed the circRNA expression profiles and indicated the importance of circRNAs of rDFCs. In addition, circFgfr2 might promote osteogenesis by controlling miR-133/BMP6, which is a potential new target for the manipulation of tooth regeneration and bone formation. 相似文献

Halieutopsis bathyoreos Bradbury, 1988 (Lophiiformes: Ogcocephalidae), previously described only on the basis of the holotype (62.6mm in standard length) from the central North Pacific, is redescribed on the basis of the holotype and six additional specimens (41.2–68.7mm in standard length) collected from the western South Pacific, off Papua New Guinea, and the western North Pacific, including the Japanese Archipelago. Halieutopsis bathyoreos is distinguished from its congeners by having a shelflike rostrum extending anteriorly well beyond the mouth, a dorsal escal lobe slightly bisected ventrally, an illicial cavity square in outline and completely visible in ventral view, and lacking tubercles on the ventral surface of the disk. The following characters are newly added to the diagnoses of this species: rostrum width 21–29% of head length, tubercles on the dorsal surface of the disk about half the diameter of those on the lateral margin, and 13–15 large lateral-line scales on the tail. 相似文献

The purpose of this research was to improve the solubility and therefore dissolution and bioavailability of triamterene, a
poorly water soluble diuretic, by complexation with β-cyclodextrin. Triamterene has been reported to show low bioavailability
after oral administration, with wide intersubject variation. This study presents the formulation of solid dispersions of triamterene
with β-cyclodextrin—by cogrinding, kneading, and coevaporation, using low pH conditions—and their characterizations, evaluation
of improvement in dissolution profiles, and in vivo advantage. Phase solubility studies indicated complex with possible stoichiometry
of 1∶1 and a stability constant of 167.67M−1. The solid dispersions were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance, x-ray diffraction,
and differential scanning calorimetry studies. The characterization studies confirmed inclusion of the phenyl ring of triamterene
within the nonpolar cavity of β-cyclodextrin in the coevaporate. Remarkable improvement in in vitro drug release profiles
in 0.1 N HCl and pH 6.8 phosphate buffer was observed with all dispersions, especially the coevaporate. The coevaporate, when
administered orally in rats, also exhibited improved in vivo activity, as measured by net sodium ion excretion, as compared
with triamterene powder. Thus, coevaporation of the drug and β-cyclodextrin from acidified alcohol provide the optimum condition
for inclusion complexation to give a binary system with remarkable improvement in in vitro drug release profile and in vivo

The proliferative potential in 157 brain tumours was investigated using Ki-67 labelling index (Ki-67LI). There were 46 patients with low grade gliomas (Al & All), 82 with high grade gliomas (AIII & AIV) and 29 with metastatic tumours. Tumour fragments used for assessment of Ki-67LI were fixed in formalin. Ki-67 antigen was visualised on paraffin sections using DAKO Rabbit Anti-Human Ki-67 antigen. The Ki-67LI was calculated as the percentage of Ki-67 labelled cells. The tumours showed variability in the Ki-67LI values. Significantly higher mean Ki-67LI was found for highly malignant (AIII & AIV) than for low grade gliomas (Al & All). For metastatic tumours, the mean values of Ki-67LI were significantly higher than for gliomas. Moreover, Ki-67LI of metastatic tumours were significantly higher than for high grade gliomas. 相似文献

The present study investigated the effect of unilateral and bilateral resistance exercise (RE) on maximal voluntary strength, total volume of load lifted (TVLL), rating of perceived exertion (RPE) and blood lactate concentration of resistance-trained males. Twelve healthy men were assessed for the leg extension one-repetition maximum (1RM) strength using bilateral and unilateral contractions. Following this assessment, an RE session (3 sets of repetitions to failure) was conducted with bilateral and unilateral (both limbs) contractions using a load of 50% 1RM. The TVLL was calculated by the product of the number of repetitions and the load lifted per repetition. RPE and blood lactate were measured before, during and after each set. Session RPE was measured 30 minutes after RE sessions. There was a significant difference in the bilateral (120.0±11.9) and unilateral (135.0±20.2 kg) 1RM strength (p < 0.05). The TVLL was similar between both RE sessions. Although the repetitions decreased with each successive set, the total number of repetitions completed in the bilateral protocol (48) was superior to the unilateral (40) protocol (p < 0.05). In both bouts, RPE increased with each subsequent set whilst blood lactate increased after set 1 and thereafter remained stable (p < 0.05). The RPE and lactate responses were not significantly different between both sessions. In conclusion, a bilateral deficit in leg extension strength was confirmed, but the TVLL was similar between both RE sessions when exercising to voluntary fatigue. This outcome could be attributed to the number of repetitions completed in the unilateral RE bout. The equal TVLL would also explain the similar perceptual and metabolic responses across each RE session. 相似文献

Background and aim
Long-term survival of lung cancer patients with brain metastases (BM) is very rare. Our aim is to report the characteristics of patients who survived for at least three years after a BM diagnosis.Materials and methods
Nineteen lung cancer patients who had survived ≥3 years after a BM diagnosis were identified in our database. Seven (37%) had undergone whole-brain radiotherapy (WBRT) only, five (26%) BM surgery + WBRT, three (16%) BM surgery + WBRT + BM radiosurgery, and four (21%) no WBRT (one, surgery; one, radiosurgery; two, BM surgery + radiosurgery). Their characteristics were compared with historical data for 322 lung cancer patients with BM (control group, CG), who had received WBRT between 1986 and 1997.Results
Median survival from BM in long survivors group was 73 months (in CG – 4 months). Characteristics comparison: median age 55 vs. 58 (CG), p = 0.16; female sex 68% vs. 28% (CG), p = 0.003; RTOG/RPA class 1 – 75% vs. 13% (CG), p = 0.00001; adenocarcinoma histology 84% vs. 24% (CG), p < 0.00001; control of primary tumor 95% vs. 27% (CG), p < 0.00001; extracranial metastases 0 vs. 26% (CG), p = 0.01; single BM 63% vs. 9% (CG), p = 0.00001; surgery of BM 53% vs. 14% (CG), p = 0.00001.Conclusions

Chicken major histocompatibility complex (MHC) B21 and B19 haplotypes are associated with resistance and susceptibility to Marek's disease (MD), respectively. T-cell-mediated immune response is crucial in coordinating protection against Marek's disease virus (MDV) infection, but it has been difficult to identify and characterize antigen-specific T-cells. MHC class II tetramers and oligomers have been widely used for characterization of antigen-specific T-cells in the context of infectious and autoimmune diseases. Thus, the objective of this study was to synthesize chicken MHC class II oligomers of B21 and B19 haplotypes for the future identification of antigen-specific T-cells. To achieve this objective, full-length coding sequences of chicken MHC class II B21 and B19 molecules were amplified and the molecules were expressed as fusion proteins, carrying Fos and Jun leucine zipper (LZ), histidine-tag and biotin ligase recognition site sequences, using a baculovirus expression system. Recombinant MHC-II were loaded with self-peptides, which stabilized the heterodimer in SDS-PAGE and allowed the detection of these molecules in Western blots with a conformation-specific anti-chicken MHC class II antibody. Biotinylated MHC molecules were conjugated to streptavidin to form oligomers, which were resolved under the transmission electron microscope through immuno-gold labelling, thus confirming success of oligomerization. In conclusion, chicken MHC class II oligomers may be used in the future to study the antigen-specific CD4+ T-cell compartment. 相似文献
