The conditions of dissolution of freshly precipitated niobium (V) oxide in α-hydroxy carboxylic acids glycolic, lactic, malic and tartaric were investigated. The dissolution is a function of the molar ratio α-hydroxy carboxylic acid/hydrated niobium(V) oxide, pH of the solution, temperature and time. From solutions of α-hydroxy monocarboxylic acids at 2 < pH < 3 the binuclear complexes H3O[Nb2O4(C2H2O3)(C2H3O3)]·H2O and H3O[Nb2O4(C3H4O3)(C3H5O3)]·H2O were isolated. Colourless, poorly-crystalline complexes are 1:1 electrolytes and, according to i.r. spectral evidence, the binuclearity in their structures is achieved through oxygen bridges. With α-hydroxy dicarboxylic acids crystalline M[Nb2O3(C4H3O5)(C4H4O5)]·nH2O and poorly crystalline complexes, M2[Nb2O2(C4H2O6)2]·nH2O, M = H3O+, NH4+ were prepared as 1:1 electrolytes for the former and 1:2 electrolytes for the latter. Analytical, spectral, conductometric and potentiometric titration data give evidence for binuclear malatoniobate(V) and tartratoniobate(V) anions with bridging complex-forming agents.  相似文献

High fat diet caused significant (8-fold) increase in serum total cholesterol in rabbits. Administration of C. decidua fruit extract (50% ethanolic) at the dose of 500 mg/kg body weight significantly reduced serum total cholesterol (61%), LDL cholesterol (71%), triglycerides (32%) and phospholipids (25%). Similarly C. decidua shoot extract lowered serum total cholesterol (48%), LDL cholesterol (57%), triglycerides (38%) and phospholipids (36%).The cholesterol content of aorta was decreased by 44 and 28% in fruit and shoot extract treatment respectively. The HDL to total cholesterol ratio and atherogenic index was significantly decreased in plant extract treated groups suggesting antiatherosclerotic nature of these plant extract. These results reveal the hypolipidaemic potential of C. decidua fruit and shoot.  相似文献

Drosophila punjabiensis, a member of the montium subgroup of the melanogaster species group is a very common and widespread species of Drosophila in the Indian subcontinent. Analysis of different geographic populations of this species in India has revealed altogether nine paracentric inversions. The relationship between inversions and the different environmental conditions is discussed. The pattern of inversion polymorphism in D. punjabiensis and its sibling species, D. jambulina are compared.  相似文献

2-Acetamido-2-deoxy-D-glucono-1,4-lactone (1) and 2-acetamido-2-deoxy-D-gluconic acid (3) have been examined for inhibitory activity against 2-acetamido-2-deoxy-β-D-glucosidase from bull epididymis. Crystalline 1 and 3 were compared with the known, crystalline 2-acetamido-2-deoxy-D-glucono-1,5-lactone (2), and a correlation of the activities of these compounds with various factors is presented. The inhibition constant of the 1,5-lactone 2 is lower (0.45μM) than that (4.43μM) of the 1,4-lactone 1. The effect of time is the opposite; whereas the activity of solutions of 2 decreases with time, solutions of 1 show an increase in inhibitory power, but both reach an equilibrium after 5 h. The free acid 3 exhibits no inhibitory activity. 2-Acetamido-2-deoxy-5,6-O-isopropylidene-D-glucono- 1,4-lactone (4) and 2-acetamido-2-deoxy-4,6-O-isopropylidene-D-glucono-1,5-lactone (5), which are appropriately protected to prevent conversion into the other lactone isomer, were also tested; 4 has 1/1000th the activity of 5.  相似文献

Biodiversity is an addition sum of the studies on genetic, taxonomic commercial and ecosystem aspects of living systems. All the living individuals of a species contain a distinct combination of genes and the intrinsic interaction among the gene pool influences evolution, survival and phenotypic/genotypic changes of the part of the biodiversity i.e. community. The amount of genetic diversity within population varies tremendously and much of modern conservation biology is concerned with the maintenance of genetic diversity within the population of plants, animals and microbes. Germplasm, obtained with the vast biodiversity, provides a major source of biological material for the development of medicines, vaccines, pharmaceutical products, improved crop and animal varieties and for other environmental applications. Industrialized nations, who have the technology and resources to patent and develop commercial biological products, are having the benefits of biodiversity through the collected and conserved germplasm flowing through the international research centers. In fact a particular genetic contribution usually represents only a small percentage of the total value of the eventual products. In addition, the research and development process required to commercialize a particular product requires enormous technical efforts. The principle of patenting genes is the morally or ethically correct is a matter of intense debate. However, geneticists, having conceived of the technologies with vast and immediate therapeutic, food and environmental values must try to bring to the material to market as soon as possible.  相似文献

A scaffold made of equine collagen type I based material has been assessed for its use in the preparation of tissue-engineered cartilage implants with human articular chondrocytes. Improvements of cell-seeding efficiency and specific gene expression were studied by combining solid scaffold with fibrin glue or human blood plasma. Following 3 weeks of static culture, mRNA expression levels of collagen type I, collagen type II, aggrecan and versican were analyzed by real-time quantitative PCR and compared to those in native cartilage and monolayer cell cultures.Constructs prepared with fibrin glue or plasma showed higher cell seeding efficiencies than those prepared without gel. Chondrocytes seeded directly onto a collagen scaffold appeared fibroblastic in shape while those encapsulated in fibrin gel were spherical. The presence of fibrin glue positively influences on mRNA levels of collagen type II and aggrecan, while blood plasma enhanced only the level of collagen type II expression. Levels of collagen type I and versican decreased in presence of fibrin glue.In orthopaedics, the combination of solid collagen fleece with fibrin gel for implant preparation is seen to be preferred over solid material or even cells in a suspension, since fibrin gel improves seeding capacity of the scaffold, supports equal distribution of cells and stimulates higher chondrogenic phenotype expression.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to evaluate primary DNA damage and the dynamics of the repair of radiotherapy-induced DNA lesions in non-target cells of cancer patients. This study included patients diagnosed with different solid tumors who received radiotherapy. The levels of DNA damage were evaluated using the alkaline comet assay on peripheral blood leukocytes. Altogether four blood samples per patient were collected: before and after receiving the first dose of radiotherapy, in the middle of radiotherapy cycle, and after the last dose of radiotherapy. The results indicate that after the first radiation dose significantly increased levels of DNA damage were recorded in almost all cancer patients compared to their baseline values. Specific patterns of DNA damage were recorded in samples analyzed in the middle of radiotherapy and after receiving the last dose, indicating the possibility of adaptive response in some patients. Our results indicate that persistence of post-irradiation damage in peripheral blood leukocytes (and possibly in other non-target cells) of cancer patients that are strong determinants for the secondary cancer risk. Moreover, the alkaline comet assay was confirmed as a rapid and sensitive assay for the assessment of genome damage after in vivo irradiation.  相似文献

The function of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) is the rapid hydrolysis of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine (ACh), which is involved in the numerous cholinergic pathways in both the central and the peripheral nervous system. Therefore, AChE measurement is of high value for therapy management, especially during the course of intoxication with different chemicals or drugs that inhibit the enzyme. Pyridinium or bispyridinium aldoximes (oximes) are able to recover the activity of the inhibited enzyme. Since their adverse effects are not well elucidated, in this study the efficiency of HI-6 oxime in protection and/or reactivation of human erythrocyte AChE inhibited by the antineoplastic drug irinotecan as well as its cyto/genotoxicity in vitro were investigated. HI-6 was effective in protection of AChE and increased its activity up to 30%; the residual activity after irinotecan inhibition was 7%. Also, it reactivated the enzyme previously inhibited by 50% irinotecan (4.6 microg/ml) applied at 1/4 of the IC50 value. The tested concentrations of HI-6 exhibited acceptable genotoxicity towards white blood cells, as estimated by the alkaline comet assay, DNA diffusion assay and cytogenetic endpoints (structural chromosome aberrations and cytokinesis-block micronucleus assay). The results obtained warrant the further investigation of HI-6 in vivo, as well as its development for possible application in chemotherapy.  相似文献
