Complex formation of cholesterol-containing polymers in water solutions

The dynamic light scattering method was used to study the process of complex formation of cholesterol-containing polymers of vinylsaccharide 2-deoxy-2-methacrylamido-D-glucose (double and ternary copolymers) in water solutions in the different polymer mole ratio. Compared to the initial ternary cholesterol-containing copolymer the conditions of compaction of the complex formed are found.     

The patterns of changes in the electrohysterogram amplitude characteristics in healthy pregnant women during the third trimester

The patterns of changes in the amplitude characteristics of the bioelectrical activity of the uterus were studied on the basis of the external multichannel electrohysterography data in healthy pregnant women with physiological pregnancy at weeks 28 to 40 of gestation using electrophysiological methods. Three groups of women were identified, according to the term of pregnancy. The first group included 12 women at 26–28 weeks of gestation; the second group, 49 women at 29–37 weeks of gestation; and the third group, 48 women at 38–40 weeks of gestation. The preliminary norms of the electrohysterogram amplitude characteristics were obtained. The average electrohysterogram amplitude was revealed to increase with the term of the pregnancy.     

Effect of orotic acid on reparative processes in the lungs following pneumonectomy]

The effect of orotic acid on pulmonary regeneration has been studied in mature rats after left-sided pneumonectomy. A complex morphometric analysis of the pulmonary parenchyma during the process of compensatory-hypertrophic rearrangement has been carried out; mitotic activity of cells in the interalveolar septae, peculiarities of DNA synthesis and those of enzymatic status in lymphocytes of the peripheral blood have been determined. As the investigations have demonstrated, the administration of orotic acid during the postoperative period contributes to a more complete regeneration of the lung volume, alveolar surface, results in formation of new alveoli, prevents the development of morphologic long-term decompensation following pneumonectomy. Activation of the alveolar cells proliferation and increased DNA synthesis are the main stimulating effects of orotic acid. Certain correlative connections are revealed between the course of pulmonary regenerative processes and the enzymic status of circulating lymphocytes.     

Use of gnotobiotic animals for the study of the pathogenesis of cholera intoxication

Germ-free suckling rabbits and minipigs can be recommended as models suitable for the study of different aspects of the pathogenesis of cholera intoxication. In minipigs, individual representatives of intestinal autochthonous microflora produce different effect on the sensitivity of the animals to the toxigenic and choleragenic action of Vibrio cholerae antigen introduced by oral administration, that should also be taken into consideration in the determination of residual toxicity during the trial of new vaccine preparations against cholera.     

Comparison of proliferative and immunoglobulin-secreting capacity of peripheral blood lymphocytes of healthy persons and patients with B-cell immunoproliferative diseases]

The proliferative response and in vitro immunoglobulin production induced polyclonal activators were studied in 12 patients with multiple myeloma (MM) and in 15 healthy individuals. The spontaneous production of IgM was decreased. PWM-induced immunoglobulin production of the peripheral blood lymphocytes was the same.
