The distribution and peculiarities of viral double-stranded RNA in natural Saccharomyces strains were studied. It is for the first time that the presence of the L and M fractions in the species S. kudriavzevii and S. mikatae has been documented. S. kudriavzevii has two types of M-dsRNA: M1 and M4, whereas the yeast S. mikatae is characterized by three types of plasmids: M2–M4. Plasmid dsRNAs are absent in S. cariocanus strains. A total of eleven types of M-dsRNA were identified; some of them were specific to particular species. Plasmids M5–M7 were revealed only in S. paradoxus strains and the yeast S. bayanus is characterized by M8–M11 double-stranded RNA. According to the results of phenotypic analysis, all the M-dsRNAs revealed were cryptic. 相似文献

Nitrogenase activity, the abundance of diazotrophic bacteria, the structure and functional characteristics of the complex of microorganisms, and the content of nitrogen and carbon were determined in the contents of the gastrointestinal tract of the European beaver. A high nitrogen-fixing activity in the large intestine correlated with an increase in nitrogen content in the chyme upon its transfer over the gastrointestinal tract. Genetic relationships among forty-one strains of Saccharomyces bayanus var. uvarum isolated in different wine regions of Europe and four wild isolates were investigated by restriction analysis (RPLP) of mitochondrial
DNA (mtDNA) with four restriction endonucleases, AluI, DdeI, HinfI and RsaI. No clear correlation between origin and source of isolation of S. bayanus var. uvarum strains and their mtDNA restriction profiles was found. On the whole, the mtDNA of S. bayanus var. uvarum is much less polymorphic than that of S. cerevisiae. This observation is in good agreement with results obtained by electrophoretic karyotyping. The cell wall anionic polymers of the 13 species of the Streptomyces cyaneus cluster have a similar structure and contain -glucosylated 1,5-poly(ribitol phosphate) and 1,3-poly(glycerol phosphate). In the degree of glucosylation of the ribitol phosphate units of their teichoic acids, the cluster members can be divided into two groups. The streptomycetes of the first group (S. afghaniensis, S. janthinus, S. purpurascens, S. roseoviolaceus, and S. violatus) are characterized by a very similar structure of their cell walls, the completely glucosylated 1,5-poly(ribitol phosphate) chains, and a high degree of DNA homology (67–88% according to literature data). The cell wall teichoic acids of the second group (S. azureus, S. bellus, S. caelestis, S. coeruleorubidus, S. curacoi, and S. violarus) differ in the degree of -glucosylation of their 1,5-poly(ribitol phosphate) chains and have a lower level of DNA homology (54–76% according to literature data). Two streptomycetes of the cluster (S. cyaneus and S. hawaiiensis) are genetically distant from the other cluster members but have the same composition and structure of the cell wall teichoic acids as the second-group streptomycetes. The data obtained confirm the genetic relatedness of the S. cyaneus cluster members and suggest that the structure of the cell wall teichoic acids may serve as one of the taxonomic criteria of the species-level status of streptomycetes. 相似文献

Sequence analysis of the D1/D2 domain of 26S rDNA was conducted upon seven Arthroascus strains from different geographic localities. The European and Asian species Arthroascus schoenii was documented from the North-American continent and from the Island of Hawaii. We discuss the heterogeneity of the genus Saccharomycopsis sensu Kurtzman and Robnett 1995. On the basis of molecular and genetic data the genus Arthroascus von Arx is reinstated. 相似文献
