Building up from experimental knowledge of the regulatory network of the pel genes in the bacteria E. chrysanthemi, we propose for the first time a qualitative modeling of the infectious transition of this bacteria when it is hosted in a plant. We show that this infectious transition can be understood as the excitable dynamics of a metabolico-genetic network. Our mathematical model can account for the main phases which are observed in the onset of the pathogenecity by Erwinia chrysanthemi, namely the silent, latent and virulent stages. Like in many infectious agents, the silent state corresponds to the growth phase of the bacteria, where they multiply without significantly producing molecules which could trigger a counter attack of the invaded host. The latent stage is characterized by a moderate but unequivocal expression of the virulence gene, waiting for a number of conditions which have to fulfill in order to trigger a fully developed infection. In the virulent state the bacteria synthesize a massive production of virulence factors including pectate lyases (Pel) which favor the invasion of the host plant tissues. Our model is able to show cases of transitions from the silent to the virulent stages of the infection, using the method of the piecewise-affine (PA) differential equations and its implementation in the genetic network analyser software (GNA). The obtained qualitative dynamics of the models are consistent with the current experimental data about this system. Moreover it can be interpreted with respect to the relatively complex structure of the binding sites of pel. From the biological point of view, our simulations validate the picture that the promoter of pel has evolved to form a security device preventing a hastened expression of these virulent genes. This first modeling of the regulation of pel genes opens the way to new confrontations between theoretical ideas with experiments and possible strategies to fight the soft-rot disease of plants. 相似文献

The effect of weakly coordinating anions, , as axial ligands on the formation and coordination chemistry of verdoheme analogues have been examined. Two new five-coordinate and stable iron(II) verdoheme analogues, [OEOPFeIIX], where OEOP is the monoanion of octaethyloxoporphyrin and X = AsF6 and SbF6, have been isolated. The compounds have been characterized by different spectroscopic methods as well as elemental analysis. 1H NMR spectroscopy and magnetic moment measurements show that the [OEOPFeIIX] are paramagnetic and iron is five-coordinate. Exposure of dichloromethane solutions of [OEOPFeIIX] (X = AsF6 (2), SbF6 (3)) to dioxygen result in their transformation into the μ-oxo bridged compounds, [(OEOPFe)2O](X)2 (X = AsF6 (4), SbF6 (5)). The structures of 4 and 5 have been determined by X-ray diffraction analysis, both are structurally similar with a P21/c space group in the monoclinic crystal system. 相似文献

Current antidepressants are clinically effective only after several weeks of administration. Here, we show that serotonin(4) (5-HT(4)) agonists reduce immobility in the forced swimming test, displaying an antidepressant potential. Moreover, a 3 day regimen with such compounds modifies rat brain parameters considered to be key markers of antidepressant action, but that are observed only after 2-3 week treatments with classical molecules: desensitization of 5-HT(1A) autoreceptors, increased tonus on hippocampal postsynaptic 5-HT(1A) receptors, and enhanced phosphorylation of the CREB protein and neurogenesis in the hippocampus. In contrast, a 3 day treatment with the SSRI citalopram remains devoid of any effect on these parameters. Finally, a 3 day regimen with the 5-HT(4) agonist RS 67333 was sufficient to reduce both the hyperlocomotion induced by olfactory bulbectomy and the diminution of sucrose intake consecutive to a chronic mild stress. Cereal-legume intercropping plays a vital role in the subsistence food production system that prevails in the arid regions. It not only provides profitable crop productivity for agricultural communities but also plays an important role in improving soil fertility. Therefore, the present research was conducted to assess the effect of the organic and mineral fertilizers on the forage yield and nutritional value in barley-pea intercropping system. The results revealed that the quality of forage grass is significantly influenced by both organic and inorganic fertilizer. Thus, organic fertilizer application has significantly influenced the dry matter (DM), crude ash (CA), crude protein (CP), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), and acid detergent fiber (ADF). Among the treatments, organic fertilizer added at rate of 35 m−3 ha−1 produced the maximum fresh and dry matter in barley and peas. In addition, the same level of organic fertilizer also improved silage composition by significantly increasing the protein and fiber content and showed highest the values. Based on overall results, it is concluded that organic fertilizer treatment (35 m−3 ha−1) has the potential as an effective strategy to improve the productivity and nutritional quality of the barley-pea intercropping system in arid areas. Microsatellites are powerful markers to infer population genetic parameters. We used 10 microsatellite loci to characterize the genetic diversity and structure of 79 samples of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum isolated from four Brazilian dry bean populations and observed that eight of them were polymorphic within populations. We identified 102 different haplotypes ranging from 6 to 18 per locus. Analyses based on genetic diversity and fixation indices indicated variability among and within populations of 28.79% (FST = 28793) and 71.21%, respectively. To examine genetic relatedness among S. sclerotiorum isolates, we used internal spacer (ITS1‐5.8S‐ITS2) restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR‐RFLP) and sequencing analysis. PCR‐RFLP analysis of these regions failed to show any genetic differences among isolates. However, we detected variability within the sequence, which does not support the hypothesis of clonal populations within each population. High variability within and among populations may indicate the introduction of new genotypes in the areas analysed, in addition to the occurrence of clonal and sexual reproduction in the populations of S. sclerotiorum in the Brazilian Cerrado. 相似文献

3-Azido-, 3-amino- and 3-(1,2,3-triazol-1-yl)-β-lactams were synthesized and evaluated for their antiplasmodial activity against four strains of Plasmodium falciparum and KB cells for their cytotoxicity profiles.
