There is information regarding the rates of gastric cancer (GC) in different populations and the important role of Helicobacter pylori in GC development; however, no comprehensive study has yet been performed to investigate the prevalence of GC in H. pylori–infected patients. PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library through January 1, 2000 were searched without language restrictions. Quality of included studies was assessed with a critical appraisal checklist recommended by the Joanna Briggs Institute. All of the analyses were conducted using Comprehensive Meta-Analysis Software Version 2.0 and Stata 14.0. Forty-four studies from 17 countries were included. The pooled frequency of GC was 17.4% (95% confidence interval: 16.4–18.5) in H. pylori–infected population. The frequency of GC among H. pylori–infected population varied markedly across countries. The highest rate of GC was observed in H. pylori–infected individuals from Asian countries. The frequency of GC was relatively high in H. pylori–infected population in the world. However, the eradication of H. pylori might be a promising strategy for GC prevention, especially in high-risk populations such as Asian countries. 相似文献

Calcitonin (CT) is one of the factors affecting the embryo implantation, but its effects on the implantation window have not been fully investigated. The current study investigated the effects of CT on the endometrium receptivity by morphological study and evaluation of leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF), mucin 1 (Muc-1), and microRNA (miRNA) Let-7a in the ovarian stimulation and the normal ovarian cycle. Then the mechanism of the CT effects through the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) signaling pathway was studied by using PP242. A total of 64 BALB/c mice were divided into the normal ovarian cycle and ovarian stimulation groups. Each group consisted of four subgroups: control, calcitonin, PP242, and calcitonin+PP242. CT and PP242 were injected on the fourth of pregnancy into the mice and 24 hr later all the mice were killed. The uterine tissue samples were used for morphological analysis, and endometrial cells were mechanically isolated for evaluation of gene and protein expression. The results showed that ovarian stimulation induced mTOR phosphorylation as well as increased expression of the Let-7a miRNA. In addition, CT injection increased the expression of LIF and miRNA Let-7a in ovarian stimulation similar to that in normal ovarian cycles. However, injection of PP242 reduced expression of miRNA Let-7a and increased Muc-1 expression in ovarian stimulation group. In conclusion, the administration of CT improved endometrial receptivity in mice. This phenomenon occurred by upregulation of LIF, miRNA Let-7a and downregulation of Muc-1 via mTOR signaling pathway. 相似文献

Gastric adenocarcinoma is usually diagnosed in late stages, necessitating the use of different therapeutic modalities. Currently, antibody-based therapies have also been approved through with limited clinical efficacy. Reinforcing antibody-based immunotherapy by using chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells may enhance the approach. However, the cells can cause severe on-target and off-tumor toxicities owing to their higher sensitivity to low-level antigen expressions. To address the need for safe and reliable targets, we made a bioinformatics pipeline by which we screened overexpressed genes in the disease for off-tumor sites in many normal tissues. Our inspection showed that MSLN (Mesothelin), ANTXR1 (TEM8), and MUC3A are the probable targets of CAR T cell therapy in gastric adenocarcinoma. The proposed antigenic targets might respond to the need to simultaneously target multiple antigens in a tumor matrix to prevent resistance. 相似文献

Survivin is a member of the inhibitor of apoptosis protein (IAP) family that has been implicated in both apoptosis inhibition and cell cycle control. Recently, Survivin has attracted growing attention because of its tumor-specific expression and potential applications in tumor therapy. However, its inhibitory mechanism and subcellular localization remain controversial. Here, we report a novel Survivin mutant Surv-D53A, which displays a function opposite to Survivin and a distinctive subcellular distribution compared with its wild-type counterpart. Surv-D53A was shown to induce apoptosis in a p53-independent manner, indicating that tumor suppressor p53 is not involved in its apoptosis pathway. Surv-D53A was shown to markedly sensitize apoptosis induced by TRAIL, doxorubicin, and RIP3. We also demonstrated that similar to wild-type Survivin, Surv-D53A was localized in cytoplasm in interphase and to midbody at telophase. However, it fails to colocalize in chromosomes with Aurora-B in metaphase as wt-Survivin. Surv-D53A mutant is less stable than wt-Survivin and is degraded more rapidly by ubiquitin-proteasome pathway. Additionally, we found that Surv-D53A interacts with wt-Survivin to form heterodimer or with itself to form mutant homodimer, which may account for the loss of its antiapoptotic function. Finally, unlike Survivin*Survivin, neither Surv-D53A*Survivin nor Surv-D53A*Surv-D53A is able to bind to Smac/DIABLO, which may explain the underlying mechanism for its abolishment of antiapoptotic activity of Survivin. 相似文献

In this research, kinetics of Cr(VI) reduction by iron filings was investigated through a batch study in seven different soils. Chromate reduction experiments were carried out for initial Cr(VI) concentrations ranging from 20 to 100 mgkg?1 and iron filings dosage of 0 to 5% w/w. The experimental data were analyzed using various kinetic models including zero-order, pseudo first-order, power function, Elovich, and diffusion parabolic. Results showed that the Cr(VI) reduction efficiency in the presence of all studied soils increased with increasing iron filings dosage and decreased with increasing the initial Cr(VI) concentration. The reaction rates considerably depended on pH and were higher in acidic soils. The diffusion parabolic model was the best kinetic model as evidenced by the highest determination coefficient (r2) and the lowest standard error of the estimate (SE). The rate-limiting step(s) may be transport of chromate anions across a liquid film at the interface of soil-liquid, transport in liquid-filled macropores of iron filings aggregates, or diffusion in micropores and along the particle's surface. 相似文献

In this study, the use of trimethylchitosan (TMC), by higher solubility in comparison with chitosan, in alginate/chitosan nanoparticles containing cationic β-cyclodextrin polymers (CPβCDs) has been studied, with the aim of increasing insulin uptake by nanoparticles. Firstly, TMCs were synthesized by iodomethane, and CPβCDs were synthesized within a one-step polycondensation reaction using choline chloride (CC) and epichlorohydrine (EP). Insulin–CβCDPs complex was prepared by mixing 1:1 portion of insulin and CPβCDs solutions. Then, nanoparticles prepared in a three-step procedure based on the iono-tropic pregelation method. Nanoparticles screened using experimental design and Placket Burman methodology to obtain minimum size and polydispercity index (pdI) and the highest entrapment efficiency (EE). CPβCDs and TMC solution concentration and pH and alginate and calcium chloride solution concentrations are found as the significant parameters on size, PdI, and EE. The nanoparticles with proper physicochemical properties were obtained; the size, PdI, and EE% of optimized nanoparticles were reported as 150.82 ± 21 nm, 0.362 ± 0.036, and 93.2% ± 4.1, respectively. The cumulative insulin release in intestinal condition achieved was 50.2% during 6 h. By SEM imaging, separate, spherical, and nonaggregated nanoparticles were found. In the cytotoxicity studies on Caco-2 cell culture, no significant cytotoxicity was observed in 5 h of incubation, but after 24 h of incubation, viability was decreased to 50% in 0.5 mμ of TMC concentration. Permeability studies across Caco-2 cells had been carried out, and permeability achieved in 240 min was 8.41 ± 0.39%, which shows noticeable increase in comparison with chitosan nanoparticles. It was previously reported that tumour samples had shorter telomeres than the surrounding normal tissue. Hereby, the initial sign of correlation between malignant tissue and telomere behaviour could be noticed. Bridging knowledge between germ and somatic cells could facilitate understanding cellular evolution. The aim of our investigation was to provide evidence for the evolutionary hypothesis of TL (telomere length) in primary BC (breast cancer) and BTs (brain tumours), which might be applied as a prognostic and/or predictive marker. DNA extraction from the frozen tissues was performed using high pure PCR template preparation kit. Standard protocol of Telo TTAGGG Telomere Length Assay kit, a non‐radioactive chemiluminescent assay, was used. The protein expression in extracted cells was analysed by immunofluorescence. We also detected telomerase activity. The G/T (genomic/tumour ratio) for TL in two groups of patients affected with primary BC and primary BT revealed significant differences in both BC patients (P=0.025) and in BTs (P=0.001). The pattern of telomere signals by Q‐FISH (quantitative fluorescent in situ hybridization) show that in all samples, except one, SI (signal intensity) has been significantly decreased in tissue related to blood, either in BC patients or in patients with BTs (0.041≥P≥0.001). However, the data achieved by Q‐FISH support the results of Southern blot. These data reflect a significant diversity either in BC or in BT patients, providing evidence for the evolutionary hypothesis of TL in cancer development and progression. 相似文献

A pot experiment was conducted on mustard (Brassica campestris L.) to study the protective role of added potassium (K, 40 mg kg−1 soil) against salinity-stress (0, 40 and 80 mM NaCl)-induced changes in plant growth, photosynthetic traits, ion accumulation,
oxidative stress, enzymatic antioxidants and non-enzymatic antioxidants at 30 days after sowing. Increasing NaCl levels decreased
the growth, photosynthetic traits and the leaf ascorbate and glutathione content but increased the leaf ion accumulation and
oxidative stress, and the activity of antioxidant enzymes. In contrast, K-nutrition improved plant growth, photosynthetic
traits, activity of antioxidant enzymes and the ascorbate and glutathione content, and reduced ion accumulation and oxidative
stress traits in the leaves, more appreciably at 40 mM than at 80 mM NaCl. The study illustrates the physiological and biochemical
basis of K-nutrition-induced NaCl tolerance in mustard as a means to achieving increased crop productivity in a sustainable

Our knowledge of the disease burden and symptoms with age in COVID-19 patients is limited. Therefore, it is of interest to document the clinical aspect of this association with respect to the disease. We used the data of 3363 patients enrolled with an urgent care clinic in Volusia county, Florida for this study. Data shows difference in age among COVID-19 antibody (Ab) - positive patients (48.3 years, 95% CI = 46.9,49.7 years) and Ab-negative patients (46.1 years, 95% CI = 45.4, 46.8 years). However, disease burden by age is not significant on average. Nonetheless, COVID-19 positive patients between 40-69-years of age experienced the highest burden of disease and highest average number of symptoms. Thus, COVID-19 disease burden and number of symptoms experienced were highest among the 40-69-year-old patients. Those above the populations mean age of 46.4 years old were more likely to test positive for COVID-19. 相似文献
