Bicyclic dioxetanes bearing 5-(t-butyldimethylsiloxy)inden-2-yl, 3, or 5-(t-butyldimethylsiloxy)benzo(b)thiazol-2-yl, 4, were synthesized. On treatment with large excess of tetrabutylammonium fluoride in DMSO, dioxetane, 3, decomposed rapidly with accompanying emission of red (vermilion) light (lambda(max) (CL) = 637 nm). Comparing the chemiluminescent properties for 3 with those for related dioxetane, 1, in which pi-conjugation system is not fixed in plane, both CIEEL-decay rate and chemiluminescent efficiency were found to be improved for 3. Chemiluminescent decomposition of dioxetane, 4, was similarly induced to emit crimson light (lambda(max) (CL) = 725 nm), though the chemiluminescent efficiency was low.  相似文献

The stimulatory effect of spermidine on the translation of poly(A)+ mRNA from lactating mouse mammary glands in a wheat germ system was studied. Spermidine stimulated total polypeptide synthesis about 2.5-fold relative to that occurring in the presence of an optimal concentration of Mg2+ alone. The size and the number of polysomes were about 1.6-times larger in the presence of spermidine than in its absence. A similar magnitude of increase in peptide chain initiation, 1.4-fold, was found when the extent of peptide chain initiation was measured by determining the residual polypeptide synthesis subsequent to the addition of inhibitor(s) of peptide chain initiation to the in vitro translation system with or without spermidine at various times of the incubation. Time-course study of the release of polypeptide from polysomes showed that spermidine stimulated this process to a much greater extent than peptide chain initiation, indicating that the polyamine also increases the rate of peptide chain elongation. The extent of stimulation of peptide chain elongation by spermidine was estimated to be about 1.5-fold when the disappearance of isotope-labeled nascent peptides from polysomes was measured by pulse-chase experiments. These results indicate that spermidine stimulates the cell-free translation of mammary mRNA by increasing the rates of both initiation and elongation of polypeptide synthesis to almost the same extent. The polyamine also reduced the relative amount of incomplete polypeptides, thereby increasing the yield of full-length translational products.  相似文献

We examined fine litterfall fluctuations on a seasonal and annual scale for 14 years (1992–2005) in a 1.2-ha plot in an old-growth lucidophyllous (evergreen broad-leaved) forest within the Aya Research Site, southwestern Japan. The average total litterfall input was 6.32 Mg ha–1, of which leaf litter accounted for 60% of the total. Two high-impact typhoons struck the study area in 1993 (T9313) and 2004 (T0416) during the observation period; however, the subsequent pattern of litterfall after disturbance was different between the two typhoons. T9313 disturbance caused a reduction of biomass (ca. 10% of basal area (BA)) and a sharp decrease in litterfall input following a massive input in 1993. On the other hand, T0416 caused a minor decline in litterfall input, accompanied by a relatively small reduction of BA (5.2% of the 2001 BA). In spite of large fluctuations, litterfall input increased year by year after the T9313 disturbance. In 2000, 7 years after T9313, leaf input showed no significant differences and recorded more than 90% of pre-T9313 levels. Re-leafing from typhoon survivors may play an important role in the recovery of litterfall input in this forest. This study demonstrated how one high-impact typhoon can alter the temporal fluctuations in fine litterfall in lucidophyllous forest ecosystems.  相似文献

B. pertussis is a causative agent of whooping cough (pertussis) in humans. Despite wide-scale vaccination in many countries, there is serious concern about pertussis as a re-emerging disease. Re-emergence of pertussis may be explained by several factors: the short duration of protection by the currently available acellular pertussis vaccine, an increase in asymptomatic adult carriers and expansion of strains with certain antigenic variations which are not covered by currently available vaccines. To develop safer and more efficacious vaccines which confer more prolonged protection, researchers are focusing on identification and characterization of new virulence factors.
