Heat stress is one of the best-studied exogenous stress factors; however little is known about its delayed effects. Recently, we have shown that heat stress induces cellular senescence-like G2 arrest exclusively in early S-phase cells. The mechanism of this arrest includes the generation of heat stress-induced single-stranded DNA breaks, the collision of replication forks with these breaks and the formation of difficult-to-repair double-stranded DNA breaks. However, the early S phase-specific effects of heat stress are not limited to the induction of single-stranded DNA breaks. Here, we report that HS induces partial DNA re-replication and centrosome amplification. We suggest that HS-induced alterations in the expression levels of the genes encoding the replication licensing factors are the primary source of such perturbations. Notably, these processes do not contribute to acquisition of a senescence-like phenotype, although they do elicit postponed effects. Specifically, we found that the HeLa cells can escape from the heat stress-induced cellular senescence-like G2 arrest, and the mitosis they enter is multipolar due to the amplified centrosomes. 相似文献

Summary The median eminence (ME) of hypophysectomized rats was studied by means of light and electron microscopy. Paraldehyde-fuchsin (PAF)-positive material is seen in the external zone (EZ) of the ME 2–5 days after the operation. Its amount gradually increases especially in the caudal part of the ME during the following few days. Some PAF-positive fibers make contact with the subependymally located blood capillaries. In the most caudal region of the recessus infundibuli they penetrate into the third ventricle. PAF-positive material decreases markedly from the ME of rats two months after hypophysectomy and exposure to a 1% salt load. Fibers of types A1, A2 and B containing granules of 120–220 nm, 100–150 nm and 80–100 nm in diameter, respectively, are seen in the EZ of the ME in hypophysectomized rats, although almost exclusively A2- and B-type structures make contact with the primary portal capillaries in intact animals. All types of neurosecretory fibers establish contact with the subependymal nonfenestrated blood capillaries and penetrate the recessus infundibuli. Some neurosecretory terminals of different types make direct contact with the glandular cells of the pars tuberalis or are separated from them by a thin basal lamina. It is assumed that mainly neurosecretory fibers of types A2 and B are permanently connected with the primary portal capillaries in the EZ of the ME in intact mammals, while the overwhelming majority of fibers of A1-type shows ingrowth during the course of postoperative reparation. Influence of water solutions of chemically pure adaptogens--a synthetic analog of Rhodiola rosea extract phenol combination (SAR) and Dibazol on the functional activity of mice hemopoietic cells in vitro was studied. A clear periodical character of drugs effects manifestation with a tendency to the stimulating activity domination was revealed. A reliable stimulation of clonogenic activity was in correlation with 4 x 10(-11) and 4 x 10(-15) adaptogens molecules in SAR and Dibazol solutions per 1 blood marrow cell. This phenomenon is suggested to be connected with the solvent (water) molecules changes and the formation of structures, keeping the information of adaptogenes with possible translation of the latter during the process of consistent dissolution of the solvent. 相似文献

An annotated list of deep-sea Anthozoa of the orders Actiniaria, Antipatharia, Scleractinia, Alcyonacea and Pennatulacea collected on the G.O. Sars MAR-ECO cruise to the Mid-Atlantic Ridge between the Azores and the southern tip of the Reykjanes Ridge is given. A total of 33 species is reported of which 32 were identified to species or genus level. The groups most rich in species were Actiniaria (nine species), Scleractinia (eight species) and Pennatulacea (eight species). Scleractinia, Antipatharia and Pennatulacea were mainly represented by species with a wide or cosmopolitan geographical distribution. In contrast, most of the actiniarians had been rarely recorded in the North Atlantic. Three species, Schizopathes affinis Brook, 1889 (Antipatharia), Dendrobrachia multispina Opresko & Bayer, 1991 and Heteropolypus cf. insolitus Tixier-Durivault, 1964 (Alcyonacea) are reported from the North Atlantic for the first time. 相似文献

We address the redox homeostasis in the crystalline lens of the rabbit pups (aged 20 and 30 days) exposed to a combined effect of non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation (EMR) and hypoxia during their prenatal development. The intensity of lipid peroxidation (LPO) in the lens was in the focus of this study, being evaluated by a level of malondialdehyde (MDA), a final LPO product. It was established that prenatal exposure to 460-MHz non-ionizing EMR combined with hypoxia intensifies LPO. The obtained results allow some conclusions to be drawn about the mechanisms of antioxidant defense in relevant biological tissues. The necessity of further studies to prove the revealed tendencies is substantiated. 相似文献
