Yarrowia lipolytica LGAM S(7)1 presented remarkable growth on industrial glycerol used as sole carbon substrate. Nitrogen-limited flask cultures were accompanied by restricted synthesis of reserve lipid, whilst amounts of citric acid were produced extracellularly. On the contrary, high amounts of reserve lipid (up to 3.5 g/l, 43% w/w of lipids in dry biomass) were produced in highly aerated continuous cultures. Lipid production was favoured at low specific dilution rates whilst fat-free material yield increased over the whole range of D (h(-1)). The maximum volumetric productivity obtained was 0.12 g lipid/1 h. Storage lipid composition did not present remarkable changes in the specific dilution rates tested. Oleate and linoleate were the dominant cellular fatty acids. 相似文献

The flow development in the model human aorta with uniform entry as well as with centrally occuluding valves mounted at the root of the aorta was described in Part I of this two-paper sequence. Part II deals with the flow development in the model aorta with tilting disc valves mounted at the root of the aorta. Bjork-Shiley and Hall-Kaster tilting disc valves were mounted in three different orientations with respect to the root of the aorta. The velocity profiles and turbulent stresses were measured with laser-Doppler anemometry. Our results under steady flow conditions in the model human aorta show quantitatively that the flow development in the ascending aorta as well as in the brachio-cephalic artery are strongly dependent on the orientation of the tilting disc valves. With the valves tilting towards the outer wall of curvature, our results suggest a tendency for flow separation at the flow divider region of the brachio-cephalic artery. 相似文献

In Part II of this two paper sequence, pulsatile flow development past a tilting disc valve in a model human aorta has been studied using quantitative laser Doppler techniques. The valve was mounted in three different orientations with respect to the aortic root in this study. Under pulsatile flow, the region of flow reversal induced near the wall of the minor flow orifice extends to more than one tissue annulus diameter downstream from the valve into the ascending aorta. In a plane perpendicular to the tilt axis, a bi-helical secondary flow is induced distal to the valve. This secondary flow is further compounded by the multiple curvatures in the aorta. Hence the valve orientation affects the velocity profiles as far downstream as the mid-arch region as well as in the brachio-cephalic arterial branch. In the mid-arch region, a flow reversal along the entire cross-section is observed in early diastole for all the three orientations of the disc valve. 相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWRs) of six finfish species under two families of the order Perciformes collected from Pulicat lagoon (India) are presented in this study. The fish specimens were collected weekly from the catches of shore seine net (with a mesh size of 50mm at the main webbing and 10 mm at the cod end) operated in the lagoon at an average depth of 2.5 m by the local fishermen during the period from July 2018 to April 2019. This study reports the LWRs for five gobiid and one siganid fish species which have no earlier reports on LWRs. The calculated ‘b’ value ranged from 3.538 (Favonigobius reichei) to 2.677 (Oxyurichthys microlepis) and ‘a’ value varied from 0.0041 (Favonigobius reichei) to 0.0199 (Acentrogobius cyanomos). Surface plasmon-coupled emission (SPCE) has led to significant advancements in analytical techniques on account of its unique characteristics that include highly polarized photon-sorting ability. In this study, we report the use of a low-cost activated carbon as a plasmonic spacer in the SPCE substrate for achieving 30-fold enhancement in fluorescence emission. We extend the use of this spacer in the presence of Rhodamine B Base, a lactone dye as the sensing material for smartphone-based ethanol detection on the SPCE platform. Ethanol detection from 1 to 6% concentration highlights the potential use of this technique in monitoring fermentation processes. 相似文献

Synthetic variants of the octadecapeptide amide ASB2 (AYSYVSEYKRLPVYNFGL-NH(2)), a cockroach allatostatin, were assayed in vitro on corpora allata (CA) from 2-day-old (vitellogenic) and 10-day-old (post-vitellogenic) female Diploptera punctata. The analogs [(17)psi(18),CH(2)-S]ASB2, [D-Trp(17)]ASB2 and [Ile(18)]ASB2 inhibited juvenile hormone (JH) synthesis with simple dose-response curves on sensitive CA from 10-day-old females. These analogs were fully effective but less potent than ASB2. When tested on CA from 2-day-old mated females, which are only partially (65-70%) sensitive to ASB2, the three analogs gave biphasic dose-response curves and elicited a maximal effect only at higher concentrations. The dose-response curve for ASB2 on CA from 2-day-old females had a Hill plot slope of only 0.78+/-0.03. These findings suggested that the observed CA sensitivity to ASB2 may be the result of two partial responses having an IC(50) of approximately 0.35 and 3nM respectively. One partial response, or receptor type, appeared more sensitive than the other to adverse modification of the "message" segment of the peptide. The activity of shorter allatostatins was also studied, indicating that pentapeptides of the YXFGL-amide structure are fully effective, albeit at low potency, as inhibitors of JH biosynthesis. 相似文献

A detailed account of the structure and musculature of the mouth tube and mode of feeding in P. narcinae is presented. The double-walled mouth tube is formed by a close fitting of the lateral, longitudinal ridges of the labium into the longitudinal groove of the inner, lateral edges of the labrum. The musculature of the mouth tube consists of two pairs of retractores oris, four pairs of compressores labri and two pairs of levatores labii. The host tissues are scraped off by the mandibles repeating a very characteristic movement brought about by roto adductor mandibulae and roto abductor mandibulae pair of muscles.
