Strains of Culex pipiens derived from natural populations collected in southern France were crossed to determine their ability to give fertile offspring. Uni- and bi-directional incompatibilities occurred between these strains and each of them had its own crossing properties. Compatibility or incompatibility of a cross seemed to be related to the geographic distance separating the parental colonies, but not to their ecological origin (hypogeous or epigeous). Our results showed evidence for the variation in time of crossing properties of a strain.  相似文献

Embryonic septum of hippocampus was grafted into the anterior eye chamber (AEC) of adult recipient rats. The fine structure and distribution of synaptic endings were studied in the hippocampus (HC) and septum (ST) grafts developing in oculo for 3-4 months. On the basis of the structure of postsynaptic regions, asymmetrical and symmetrical synapses are distinguished, whose distribution on the body and dendrites of hippocampal and septal neurons is basically similar with that in situ. As in vivo, axo-somatic, axo-dendrite and axo-spine forms of synaptic endings have been observed. Neuropile has, basically, normal structure, judging by the ratio of nerve and glial elements, but sometimes dendro-dendrite contacts and glomerular-like synaptic structures are observed which are not characteristic of the studied brain regions. Besides, the grafts contain an increased number of serial and tangential synapses, as well as axonal terminals with the signs of growth cones. The observed structural deviations appear to be due to incomplete tissue maturation in the absence of normal afferentation.  相似文献

The effects of zinc on the rate of production of bactericidal O2- of polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMN) in response to three different types of stimulating agents (serum-treated zymosan (STZ), Con A, and myristate) were studied. The percentage reduction of O2- production of PMN stimulated by STZ, Con A, and myristate were all reduced in response to Zn, irregardless of whether Zn was added to the reaction mixture immediately before SZT addition or following a prior 20 min. incubation of PMN in the presence of Zn. However, when Zn was introduced intraperitonially into guinea pigs before the collection of PMN from the animal, zinc treatment produced inhibition only in STZ-activated PMN; it produced no effect in O2- production of PMN stimulated by myristate, and it further augmented the O2- production stimulated by Con A.  相似文献

Three hundred actinomyces cultures newly isolated from the soil of different regions of the Soviet Union were tested for their ability to produce inhibitors of trypsin-like proteases. Seven previously not known to produce trypsin inhibitors (Streptomyces bikiniensis 17-5, S. sporoclivatus 28-1, S. filamentosus 32-11, S. diastatochromogenes 20-4, S. lavendulae 29-4, S. violacens 52-8, and Streptoverticillium cinnamoneum 36-8) were found to possess high antitrypsin activity. The morphological and cultural properties of the strains and the dynamics of inhibitor production were investigated. S. bikiniensis 17-5 was studied in greatest detail. Its culture filtrate contained several inhibitors for trypsin and one for chymotrypsin. A mixture of oligopeptides with Mr of 300-500 was obtained by the described procedure which included the adsorption of the culture fluid filtrate on charcoal followed by ion-exchange chromatography on CM-cellulose. Four trypsin inhibitors (Sb-IT1, Sb-IT2, Sb-IT3, and Sb-IT4) were isolated from the mixture in a highly purified state by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography. Sb-IT2 has been recognized as formylhistidylvaline with an Mr of 282. No trypsin inhibitor of this structure has been described previously.  相似文献

In the model experiments with physical overloading of "trained" rabbits, that repeatedly terminated in death, it has been stated that ultrastructural changes of the myocardial blood capillaries can be manifested as a considerable increase of the endotheliocytic nuclei volume, swelling of the cytoplasmic matrix, an essential accumulation of pinocytic vesicles, or a rather significant decrease of their number in cytoplasm and as various combinations of the changes mentioned; this negatively influences hemodynamic and trophic functions of the capillaries. The changes of endotheliocytes can be characterized as submicroscopical bases of the transcapillary insufficiency. More manifested ultrastructural changes of the capillaries are noted in the left cardiac parts.  相似文献

Several double-bond isomers of cholesterol where the normal C5-C6 double bond (delta 5) has been moved to different positions in the ring skeleton, i.e., delta 1, delta 4, delta 7, delta 8(9), delta 8(14), and delta 14, have been synthesized and incorporated in phosphotidylcholine vesicles. In addition, dienes like delta 5,7, delta 7,14, and delta 8,14 have also been studied. Many of these cholesterol analogues are intermediates in the sterol biosynthesis in different organisms. The incorporation studied indicated that more than 90% of the sterol was present in the vesicles. The effect of these cholesterol analogues was studied by glucose permeability, electron spin resonance, and fluorescence polarization spectroscopy. These studies indicated that delta 14-cholesten-3 beta-ol was most effective in restricting glucose permeability or in increasing the order parameter but was still not as effective as cholesterol. This was followed by delta 8(14)- and delta 8(9)-cholesten-3 beta-ol. The delta 1, delta 4, and delta 7 analogues and the dienols were relatively less effective in condensing the membrane. These studies indicate that the double bond at C5-C6 in cholesterol is most effective for optimal sterol-phospholipid interaction and may have formed the basis of the migration of the double bond from rings C and D in sterols to C5-C6 during the evolution of cholesterol.  相似文献

A method has been found for reassembling fragment 1 of Escherichia coli 5S RNA from mixtures containing strand III (bases 69-87) and the complex consisting of strand II (bases 89-120) and strand IV (bases 1-11). The reassembled molecule is identical with unreconstituted fragment 1. With this technique, fragment 1 molecules have been constructed 15N-labeled either in strand III or in the strand II-strand IV complex. Spectroscopic data obtained with these partially labeled molecules show that the terminal helix of 5S RNA includes the GU and GC base pairs at positions 9 and 10 which the standard model for 5S secondary structure predicts [see Delihas, N., Anderson, J., & Singhal, R. P. (1984) Prog. Nucleic Acid Res. Mol. Biol. 31, 161-190] but that these base pairs are unstable both in the fragment and in native 5S RNA. The data also assign three resonances to the helix V region of the molecule (bases 70-77 and 99-106). None of these resonances has a "normal" chemical shift even though two of them correspond to AU or GU base pairs in the standard model. The implications of these findings for our understanding of the structure of 5S RNA and its complex with ribosomal protein L25 are discussed.  相似文献
