AMP deaminase [EC 3.5.6.4] purified from chicken erythrocytes was inhibited by phytic acid (inositol hexaphosphate), which is the principal organic phosphate in chicken red cells. Kinetic analysis has indicated that this inhibition is of an allosteric type. The estimated Ki value was within the normal range of phytic acid concentration, suggesting that this compound acts as a physiological effector. Divalent cations such as Ca2+ and Mg2+ were shown to affect AMP deaminase by potentiating inhibition by lower concentrations of phytic acid, and by relieving the inhibition at higher concentrations of phytic acid. These results suggests that Ca2+ and Mg2+ can modify the inhibition of AMP deaminase by phytic acid in chicken red cells. 相似文献

Levels of lysozyme activity have been determined in the serum and cells of untreated Biomphalaria glabrata and in snails that had been challenged with heat-killed Bacillus megaterium and water at 1, 2, and 4 hr postinjection. Lysozyme activities have also been ascertained in sham-injected snails at 1, 2, and 4 hr postchallenge. Our results indicate significant alterations in the serum lysozyme activity levels at 2 and 4 hr postchallenge with bacteria and at 1 hr postinjection of water. Also, there is a significant increase in cell lysozyme activity at 1 hr postchallenge with B. megaterium. It is concluded that lysozyme is released from phagocytes into serum as a result of challenge with B. megaterium. Although the exact role of the released enzyme is uncertain, it is hypothesized that it may serve as a humoral defense molecule. 相似文献

AbstractBackground: Cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) is associated with future stroke. Although pathological alteration in small vessels of patients with CSVD can be detected by neuroimaging, diagnosis of CSVD is delayed because it is an asymptomatic disease. The stroke-prone spontaneously hypertensive rat (SHRSP) show similar pathological features to human CSVD and develop stroke-related symptoms with advancing age.Objective: We investigated the time course of haematological parameters in Wistar rats and SHRSP.Material and Methods: Blood cells were analysed using an automated haematological analyser.Results: SHRSP develop stroke-related symptoms including onset of neurological symptoms, decreased body weight and blood brain barrier leakage between 12 and 14?weeks of age. Lymphocyte counts were gradually decreased at 3?weeks before development of stoke-related symptoms and then were further decreased after the development of stroke-related symptoms. The both mean platelet volume and large platelet ratio gradually increased at 3?weeks before the development of stoke-related symptoms. However, although SHRSP showed more microcytic red cells than Wistar rats, the trajectories of change in erythrocyte-related parameters were similar between Wistar rats and SHRSP.Conclusion: Our pilot study suggests that alterations of lymphocyte count and platelet volume predictive indicators for asymptomatic CSVD and symptomatic stroke in SHRSP. 相似文献

Quantitative trait locus (QTL) analyses have greatly enhanced our understanding of complex traits in rice (Oryza sativa). In parallel, the development of introgression lines has provided a powerful tool for elucidation of complicated genetic networks and identification of QTL. We recently developed a biotron breeding system that allows rapid indoor cultivation of rice plants. The system, however, has two relatively weak points in its application to marker-assisted breeding in rice: first, variation in generation times among cultivars; second, the low number of seeds produced by crosses. To compensate for these weaknesses, we propose utilizing cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) and restorer (Rf) lines with a cv. Nipponbare genetic background. Through use of the Nipponbare genetic background, rice generation times of 2 months can be achieved regardless of any differences in the genetic background of the donor rice plant. This CMS–Rf system confers a high yield of hybrid seeds, avoids the need for emasculation and precludes accidental crosses. Our results demonstrate that this new methodology can markedly accelerate many different aspects of rice research, especially in functional genomics. The combination of biotron breeding system, early flowering habit and CMS will be of great value for screening candidate genes associated with QTL and for introducing useful QTL into elite cultivars. 相似文献
