Myocardial infarction (MI) is a multifactorial polygenic disease. It develops because of the complex interaction between many environmental and genetic factors. In this paper, we have studied associations of MI and allele combinations of 17 polymorphic markers of immune response genes in an ethnically homogeneous group of Tatars. The material for analysis was DNA samples of patients (286 men) with onset of MI at the age of 30 to 60 years and 301 essentially healthy men of the control group. Using the APSampler algorithm, we obtained allele combinations with the increased risk of MI in which allele variants CX3CR1*M (rs3732378), VCAM1*C (rs3917010), ICAM1*E (rs5498), LTA*A (rs909253), and TNFRSF1B*M (rs1061622) occurred the most often. 相似文献

Background
Observations were made on the prevalence of onchocerciasis and Onchocercal Skin Diseases (OSD); frequency of occurrence and anatomical distribution of OSD in the Hawal River Valley, an established onchocerciasis endemic focus in north-eastern Nigeria.Methods
Symptoms of OSD were diagnosed in 5 844 subjects using Rapid Assessment Method (RAM) while 1 479 of the subjects chosen from alternate households had their skin biopsies examined for active microfilariae of Onchocerca volvulus. Also, Focal Group Discussions (FGD) were conducted at the Health District levels.Results
O. volvulus was recorded in (19.0%) and OSD in (43.8%) of the subjects. The Mantel-Haenszel test for linear association showed a close agreement between onchocerciasis prevalence and the rate of OSD (χ2 = 3.93; p < 0.05). The various forms of OSD occurred in the order: CPOD (17.7%), APOD (9.9%), DPM (9.0%), LOD (7.0%) and ATR (3.1%). The overall frequency of occurrence of various symptoms of OSD on different anatomical locations showed the locations in descending order of occurrence as lower limbs (24.6%), upper limbs (21.3%), buttocks (19.9%), shoulder & neck (19.1%), abdomen and trunk (11.3%), backside (10.6), and 'other' sites (7.5%). The Focal Group Discussion (FGD) revealed the most worrisome consequences of OSD as social isolation of victims (31.3%), shame and low self esteem (22.7%) and high cost of medication (15.6%).Conclusion
It is recommended that Onchocerciasis control programmes in the Hawal River Valley and any other focus with high incidence of OSD should incorporate an aspect that would address the anxiety and depression caused by various OSD lesions since they carry lots of psycho-social implications. This would increase acceptance and compliance of the target population. The classification criteria of onchocerciasis endemicity should be based on either or both of the O. volvulus and onchocercal skin disease burden of any community and no longer on O. volvulus parasitic infection rate alone. 相似文献13.

M129V polymorphism of prion protein gene PRNP has been studied in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) and healthy ethnic Russians from Bashkortostan using allele-specific PCR. The genotype frequency distribution of the examined polymorphism in Russians from Bashkortostan was similar to that in European populations. MM, MV, and VV genotype frequencies in control group and in the MS patients were 50.24%, 42.58%, 7.18% and 43.33%, 45.83%, 10.84%, respectively. It was shown that in the group of MS patients with onset of the disease at the age of 21 and older, the frequency of the VV genotype was higher than in the control group (14.3% versus 6.18%, respectively, P = 0.041). We suggest that the VV genotype is associated with higher risk factor of MS development in the patients aged 21 years and older. 相似文献

The method of polymerase chain reaction was used to analyze T174M polymorphism at the angiotensinogen (AGT) gene in a number of populations of the Volga-Ural region, belonging to Finno-Ugric (Komi-Permyaks, Maris, Mordovians, and Udmurts), Turkic (Chuvashes, Tatars, and Bashkirs), and Eastern-Slavic (Russians) ethnic groups. Population-specific patterns of the polymorphic alleles and genotypes frequency distribution were established. Comparison of the results with the literature data on the AGT gene polymorphism in different world populations provided identification of specific trends in the changes of genotype frequency of the AGT gene depending on the ethnicity of the populations. 相似文献

Glycyrrhizic acid and its 30-methyl ester were conjugated with 2-amino-1,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-2-deoxy-alpha-D-glucopyranose, 2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-beta-D-glucopyranosyl amine, 2,3,4-tri-O-acetyl-apha-L-arabinopyranosyl amine, 2-acetamido-2-deoxy-beta-D-glucopyranosyl amine, and beta-D-galactopyranosyl amine using N,N'-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide and its mixtures with N-hydroxybenzotriazole. Structures of the conjugates were confirmed by IR, UV, 1H, and 13C NMR spectroscopy. The glycoconjugate with the residues of 2-acetamido-2-deoxy-beta-D-glucopyranosyl amine in the carbohydrate part of its molecule exhibited antiviral activity (ID50 4 microg/ml) toward the herpes simplex type 1 virus (HSV-1) in the VERO cell culture. Two compounds demonstrated anti-HIV-1 activity (50-70% inhibition of p24) in a culture of MT-4 cells at concentrations of 0.5-20 microg/ml. Triterpene saponins, glycoside analogues of glycyrrhizic acid with a modified carbohydrate chain containing monosaccharide residues attached through ester bonds, were synthesized. To this end, peracetylated glycyrrhizic acid or its 30-methyl ester were glycosylated by 2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl--D-gluco- or --D-galactopyranosyl bromide in dichloroethane in the presence of Ag2CO3. Glycerrhetinic acid saponin with D-Galp residues exhibited a higher antiulcer activity than glycyrrhizic acid in rats at a dose of 25 mg/kg. 相似文献

The apolipoprotein E (ApoE) gene polymorphism resulting from nucleotide substitutions in exon 4 was analyzed in Russian and Tatar patients with myocardial infarction (MI) from Bashkortostan. Alleles epsilon 2, epsilon 3, and epsilon 4 were identified by PCR. The genotype frequency distribution proved to be age-dependent in healthy Russians, genotype E2/3 increasing in frequency in subjects beyond 45. Russians who suffered MI under 45 had lower frequencies of genotype E3/3 (50.00% vs. 75.47% in controls of the same age, P = 0.013, OR = 0.33) and allele epsilon 3 (72.12% vs. 85.85%, P = 0.020, OR = 0.43) and a higher frequency of allele epsilon 4 (22.12% vs. 10.38%, P = 0.030, OR = 2.45). Russians who suffered MI complicated by cardiogenic shock (CS) had a significantly higher frequency of genotype E3/4 and lower frequencies of genotype E3/3 and allele epsilon 3 as compared with MI patients without CS. In Tatars, genotype E4/4 occurred at a frequency of 14.29% in patients who suffered MI under 45, and was not detected in healthy subjects of the same age (P = 0.024, OR = 17.85). Thus, the ApoE polymorphism was associated with higher risk of MI in Russians and Tatars under 45. 相似文献
