1,12-Dimethylbenz[a]anthracene (1,12-DMBA) cis-5,6-dihydrodiol was synthesized by oxidation of 1,12-DMBA with osmium tetroxide in pyridine in low yield (less than or equal to 3%) and was purified by sequential use of reversed-phase and normal-phase HPLC. Two pairs of 1,12-DMBA cis-5,6-dihydrodiol enantiomers, derived from P (right-handed helix) and M (left-handed helix) conformers, were eluted as a single chromatographic peak on both reversed-phase and normal-phase HPLC. However, these four enantiomers were resolved by sequential use of two chiral stationary phase (CSP) HPLC columns. CSP (Pirkle type I) columns were packed with either (R)-N-(3,5-dinitrobenzoyl)phenylglycine or (S)-N-(3,5-dinitrobenzoyl)leucine, which is ionically bonded to gamma-aminopropylsilanized silica. Absolute configurations of enantiomers were determined by comparing their circular dichroism spectra with those of conformationally similar cis-5,6-dihydrodiol enantiomers of 4-methylbenz[a]anthracene and 7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene with known absolute stereochemistry. 相似文献

BackgroundUnrest in Myanmar in August 2017 resulted in the movement of over 700,000 Rohingya refugees to overcrowded camps in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. A large outbreak of diphtheria subsequently began in this population.Methods and findingsData were collected during mass vaccination campaigns (MVCs), contact tracing activities, and from 9 Diphtheria Treatment Centers (DTCs) operated by national and international organizations. These data were used to describe the epidemiological and clinical features and the control measures to prevent transmission, during the first 2 years of the outbreak. Between November 10, 2017 and November 9, 2019, 7,064 cases were reported: 285 (4.0%) laboratory-confirmed, 3,610 (51.1%) probable, and 3,169 (44.9%) suspected cases. The crude attack rate was 51.5 cases per 10,000 person-years, and epidemic doubling time was 4.4 days (95% confidence interval [CI] 4.2–4.7) during the exponential growth phase. The median age was 10 years (range 0–85), and 3,126 (44.3%) were male. The typical symptoms were sore throat (93.5%), fever (86.0%), pseudomembrane (34.7%), and gross cervical lymphadenopathy (GCL; 30.6%). Diphtheria antitoxin (DAT) was administered to 1,062 (89.0%) out of 1,193 eligible patients, with adverse reactions following among 229 (21.6%). There were 45 deaths (case fatality ratio [CFR] 0.6%). Household contacts for 5,702 (80.7%) of 7,064 cases were successfully traced. A total of 41,452 contacts were identified, of whom 40,364 (97.4%) consented to begin chemoprophylaxis; adherence was 55.0% (N = 22,218) at 3-day follow-up. Unvaccinated household contacts were vaccinated with 3 doses (with 4-week interval), while a booster dose was administered if the primary vaccination schedule had been completed. The proportion of contacts vaccinated was 64.7% overall. Three MVC rounds were conducted, with administrative coverage varying between 88.5% and 110.4%. Pentavalent vaccine was administered to those aged 6 weeks to 6 years, while tetanus and diphtheria (Td) vaccine was administered to those aged 7 years and older. Lack of adequate diagnostic capacity to confirm cases was the main limitation, with a majority of cases unconfirmed and the proportion of true diphtheria cases unknown.ConclusionsTo our knowledge, this is the largest reported diphtheria outbreak in refugee settings. We observed that high population density, poor living conditions, and fast growth rate were associated with explosive expansion of the outbreak during the initial exponential growth phase. Three rounds of mass vaccinations targeting those aged 6 weeks to 14 years were associated with only modestly reduced transmission, and additional public health measures were necessary to end the outbreak. This outbreak has a long-lasting tail, with Rt oscillating at around 1 for an extended period. An adequate global DAT stockpile needs to be maintained. There is an urgent need for alternative energy resources due to the rapid rise in the price of fossil fuels and the great danger of the increasing greenhouse effect caused by carbon dioxide emission. Sunlight provides by far the largest of all carbon‐neutral energy sources. Therefore, the current solar‐ or photovoltaic‐cell‐based technologies, which can utilize solar energy, are of extreme importance. Dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) are of particular interest because they can offer a number of advantages when compared to existing photovoltaic technologies. In this review, recent advances in carbon‐related nanomaterials and their application as materials for DSSCs are discussed. Carbon nanomaterials such as carbon nanotubes and graphene display remarkable electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties that enable several exciting applications in DSSCs. The progress on the utilisation of carbon nanotubes, graphene, and their nanocomposites is reviewed as highly prospective materials to replace transparent conductive oxide (TCO) layers and counter electrodes in DSSCs. Moreover, carbon nanomaterials enable improvement of the performance of absorbing layers in working photoanodes by enhancing the light absorption and electron transport across the semiconducting nanostructured film. The application of carbon nanotubes, graphite particles, and graphene as additives towards the improved efficiency of the electrolyte in these solar cells is also discussed. Finally, a brief outlook is provided on the future development of carbon nanomaterial composites as prospective materials for DSSCs, particularly as components for printable solar cells, which are expected to play an important role in the future solar‐cell market. 相似文献

Effects of sublethal doses ie, 2, 4, 10, and 20 ppm of cypermethrin, were studied on the sixth-instar larvae of Tribolium castaneum (Herbst.). Of all the biochemical parameters tested, the free amino acids and cholesterol content and the activity of amylase were found to be the most sensitive components. Glutamate pyruvate transaminase activity was elevated at all doses except 2 ppm. The activities of alkaline phosphatase and glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase and glucose content were raised significantly at doses of 10 and 20 ppm. Acid phosphatase activity and the soluble protein content increased at a dose of 20 ppm. Total lipid and triglycerides, however, decreased significantly at this sublethal dose. Other biochemical parameters, such as cholinesterase and lactate dehydrogenase activities and the total protein, urea, glycogen, DNA, and RNA contents, were not significantly affected by exposure to different doses of cypermethrin. 相似文献

The natural populations of Dactylorhiza hatagirea have been greatly affected due to incessant exploitation. As such, studies on its population attributes together with habitat suitability and environmental factors affecting its distribution are needed to be undertaken for its conservation in nature. Present study aimed at accessing an impact of anthropogenic pressure on population structure and locate suitable habitats for the conservation of this critically endangered orchid. Considerable changes in the phytosociological attributes were observed on account of the changing magnitude and extent of anthropogenic threat in their natural abode. The distribution pattern of species indicated that more than 90% of the populations exhibit substantially aggregated spatial distribution. Maximum Entropy (MaxEnt) distribution modelling algorithm was used to predict suitable habitat and potential area for its cultivation and reintroduction. Twenty-seven occurrence records, nineteen bioclimatic variables, altitude, and slope were used. MaxEnt map output gave the habitat suitability for this species and predicted its distribution in the North-Western Himalayas of India for approximately 616 km2. Jackknifing indicated that maximum temperature of warmest month, annual mean temperature, mean temperature of the driest quarter, and mean temperature of the wettest quarter were the governing factors for its distribution and hence, presented a higher gain with respect to other variables. According to permutation importance, precipitation seasonality and mean temperature of wettest quarter shows the prominent impact on the habitat distribution. Results of AUC (area under curve) were statistically significant (0.940) and the line of predicted omission falls very close to an omission on training samples, validating a better run of the model. Response curves revealed a probable increase in the occurrence of D. hatagirea with an increase in mean temperature of the wettest quarter and maximum temperature of the warmest month contributed more than 50% to predicted habitat suitability. Direct field observations concurrent with predicted habitat suitability and google-earth images represent greater model thresholds for successful inception of the species. Together, the study proposes that the species can be conserved in or near its present-day natural habitats and is equally effective in determining the possible habitats for its cultivation and reintroduction. 相似文献

In recent years, much effort has been concentrated on the use of Β-emitting radionuclides for the treatment of various cancers.
The reports suggested the application of186Re and153Sm as radiotherapeutic radionuclides for the treatment of palliative widespread skeletal métastases, whereas166Ho was suggested as an agent for radiation synovectomy. Hence, a study on the production of186Re,153Sm, and166Ho radionuclides was carried out by neutron activation of the appropriate target materials using a Pakistan Atomic Research
Reactor (PARR-1) at a neutrons flux of 1 x 104 n/cm2 s. These radionuclides were then converted to appropriate radiopharmaceuticals for their use on animals and patients.
The targets of natural Re (metal), natural Sm2O3, enriched Sm2O3 (99.06%), Sm(NO3)3 (solid), Sm(NO3)3 (liquid), and Ho2O3 were irradiated in the PARR-1. After irradiation, the purity of these radionuclides were checked by a multichannel analyzer,
Canberra series 85 (MCA) coupled with HPGe detector and then measured in radioisotope calibrator Capintec ionization chamber
model CRC-5RH. The effect of the irradiation time and amount of target material was investigated on the production yields
of the radionuclides. The results showed an increase in the specific activity of Re with an increase in the irradiation time
from 1 to 72 h, whereas a decrease in the specific activity was observed with increase in the amount of Re from 10 to 100
mg. Similar results were obtained for153Sm and166Ho radionuclides. The results further indicated that the specific activity of powder target was much less than the liquid
targets for153Sm. Their conversion to the appropriate radiotherapeutic radiopharmaceuticals were also carried out by investigating the experimental
conditions and acceptable quality of186Re-HEDP and153Sm-EDTMP complexes were prepared. These complexes were then used on animals and patients which showed good performance. 相似文献
