Zusammenfassung Durch Verfütterung von radioaktiv markierten Nahrungsbestandteilen, geboten in synthetischer Nährlösung, wird die Richtigkeit der Hypothese von Berlese (1909) und Licent (1913) über die Funktion der Filterkammer für Euscelidius variegatus (Jassidae) und Triecphora vulnerata (Cercopidae) bewiesen. Während Wasser und Saccharose bzw. deren Spaltprodukte zum großen Teil die Filterepithelien passieren, in den Enddarm gelangen und als Honigtau vorzeitig ausgeschieden werden, verbleiben Aminosäuren und Protein im Verdauungstrakt. Eine Art Druckfiltration in der Filterkammer wird vermutet, da sich keine Hinweise für einen aktiven Transport durch die Filterepithelien erkennen lassen.

Summary By feeding of radioactive nutritional elements in a synthetic diet the hypothesis of Berlese (1909) and Licent (1913) is proved for Euscelidius variegatus (Jassidae) and Triecphora vulnerata (Cercopidae). Most of the water and the sucrose or its monosaccharides pass the filter epithelia, reach the hind gut immediately and are defecated precociously as honey dew. Amino acids and protein on the other hand remain in the digestive tract. Some sort of filtration by pressure in the filter chamber is to be supposed as there are no hints on an active transport through the filter epithelia.

Zusammenfassung Der Verlauf des Nahrungsflusses im Darmtrakt der Kleinzikade Euscelidius variegatus wird nach Verfütterung von farbstoffhaltiger Nährlösung ermittelt. Es wird der Beweis erbracht, daß die aufgenommene Nahrungsmenge in der Filterkammer geteilt wird und die beiden Anteile den Darmtrakt auf zwei verschiedenen Wegen in Richtung Rektalblase passieren. Ein Anteil der aufgenommenen Nährlösung wird über einen Kurzschlußweg in der Filterkammer sowohl über den Filterkammerdarm als auch über die Kryptonephridien direkt in den Enddarm gepumpt, während die in der Magentasche der Filterkammer verbleibenden Nahrungsanteile über einen langen Verdauungsweg zum After gelangen. Hierbei wird der Magentascheninhalt in den Magen gedrückt. Von dort aus passiert er den Mitteldarm und erreicht über den Enddarm den After. Der Kurzschlußweg und der Verdauungsweg können gleichzeitig benutzt werden. Der Kurzschlußweg wird von der Nahrung jedoch in viel kürzerer Zeit durchströmt als der längere Verdauungsweg.

Summary The leafhopper Euscelidius variegatus is fed with synthetic food, coloured with 1% Azorubin-S. Its flow in the alimentary tract has been studied. It has been found that the sucked-in food is divided into two parts in the filter chamber, each taking different way in the alimentary tract for its flow. One part of the food is pumped into the hindgut via the short circuit way going through the filter chamber once over the Filterkammerdarm and also over the kryptonephries. That part of the food, which remains in the pocket of the filter chamber takes the long digestion way to the anus over stomach, midgut and hindgut. Both the ways could be used at the same time. But the food takes much shorter time for its passage through the short circuit way as compared to the time needed for the long digestion way.

Synopsis The influence of light and prey abundance on the vertical distribution of herring larvae was evaluated by three investigations made under calm weather conditions in the North Sea off the Scottish coast. The investigations took place at different time after hatching and the vertical distributions of three size groups of larvae (mean sizes 8,15 and 19 mm) were related to time of day and the vertical distribution of copepods. No migratory behaviour of copepods was observed but their vertical distribution differed between investigations. In the investigation on intermediate sized larvae, copepod density peaked at the pycnocline (40 m). Larvae concentrated at this depth at noon. At dawn and dusk larvae migrated towards the surface and the vertical distributions fluctuated semidielly. In the two other investigations, copepods were homogeneously distributed in the water column and after migration towards the surface at dawn larvae stayed in the upper water column during the day. The observations suggest that the daytime vertical distribution of larvae in calm weather is mainly determined by feeding conditions: the larvae move to depths were light is sufficient for feeding, and refinement within that zone is made according to a compromise between optimal light conditions for feeding and optimal prey densities.  相似文献

Plants are often attacked by pathogens and insects. Their combined impact on plant performance and fitness depends on complicated three-way interactions and the plant’s ability to compensate for resource losses. Here, we evaluate the response of Barbarea vulgaris, a wild crucifer, to combined attack by an oomycete Albugo sp., a plant pathogen causing white rust, and a flea beetle, Phyllotreta nemorum. Plants from two B. vulgaris types that differ in resistance to P. nemorum were exposed to Albugo and P. nemorum alone and in combination and then monitored for pathogen infection, herbivore damage, defence compounds, nutritional quality, biomass and seed production. Albugo developed infections in the insect-resistant plants, whereas insect-susceptible plants were scarcely infected. Concentrations of Albugo DNA were higher in plants also exposed to herbivory; similarly, flea beetle larvae caused more damage on Albugo-infected plants. Concentrations of saponins and glucosinolates strongly increased when the plants were exposed to P. nemorum and when the insect-susceptible plants were exposed to Albugo, and some of these compounds increased even more in the combined treatment. The biomass of young insect-susceptible plants was lower following exposure to flea beetles, and the number of leaves of both plant types was negatively affected by combined exposure. After flowering, however, adult plants produced similar numbers of viable seeds, irrespective of treatment. Our findings support the concept that pathogens and herbivores can affect each other’s performance on a host plant and that the plant reacts by inducing specific and general defences. However, plants may be able to compensate for biomass loss from single and combined attacks over time.  相似文献

The products formed in reactions of the square-planar platinum(II) anticancer complexes, [Pt(en)Cl2] and [Pt(R,R-dach)Cl2] where en = ethylenediamine and dach = diaminocyclohexane, with trypanothione, a glutathione analogue found in some parasites, and octreotide, a synthetic analogue of the hormone somatostatin, have been investigated. Mononuclear and binuclear platinum adducts were formed in reactions of the cyclic disulfides in their oxidised and reduced forms, and were analysed by UV–visible spectroscopy and liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC–MS). The major part (94%) of the Bacillus cereus-like isolates from a Danish sandy loam are psychrotolerant Bacillus weihenstephanensis according to their ability to grow at temperatures below 7 °C and/or two PCR-based methods, while the remaining 6% are B. cereus. The Bacillus mycoides-like isolates could also be␣divided into psychrotolerant and mesophilic isolates. The psychrotolerant isolates of B. mycoides could␣be discriminated from the mesophilic by the two PCR-based methods used to characterize B.␣weihenstephanensis. It is likely that the mesophilic B. mycoides strains are synonymous with Bacillus pseudomycoides, while psychrotolerant B. weihenstephanensis, like B. mycoides, are B. mycoides senso stricto. B. cereus is known to produce a number of factors, which are involved in its ability to cause gastrointestinal and somatic diseases. All the B. cereus-like and B. mycoides like isolates from the sandy loam were investigated by PCR for the presence of 12 genes encoding toxins. Genes for the enterotoxins (hemolysin BL and nonhemolytic enterotoxin) and the two of the enzymes (cereolysin AB) were present in the major part of the isolates, while genes for phospolipase C and hemolysin III were present in fewer isolates, especially among B. mycoides like isolates. Genes for cytotoxin K and the hemolysin II were only present in isolates affiliated to B. cereus. Most of the mesophilic B. mycoides isolates did not possess the genes for the nonhemolytic enterotoxin and the cereolysin AB. The presence of multiple genes coding for virulence factors in all the isolates from the B. cereus group suggests that all the isolates from the sandy loam are potential pathogens.  相似文献

Pigs are increasingly used as in vivo models in neuroscience, including studies using positron emission tomography. During anesthesia, cerebral blood flow (CBF) and cerebral blood volume (CBV) are mainly regulated by the partial pressure of CO2 (pCO2) in arterial blood. We sought to determine the effects of increased arterial pCO2 (hypercapnia) on CBF and CBV in anesthetized domestic pigs. We anesthetized 4 pigs and manipulated the tidal volume of the ventilator to different pCO2 levels. Baseline pCO2 was on average 6.5 kPa (n = 9 periods) and hypercapnia pCO2 ranged from 11 to 20 kPa, mean 18.5 kPa (n = 9 periods). Series of dynamic PET scans with H(2)15O (CBF measurements) and C15O (CBV measurements) were performed. CBF increased on average 54%, from mean 0.48 ml blood/min/ml brain tissue during normoxia to 0.74 ml blood/min/ml brain tissue during hypercapnia. CBV increased 41% from mean 0.061 ml blood/ml brain tissue (n = 6) during normoxia to 0.086 ml blood/ml brain tissue (n = 6) during hypercapnia. Our observations indicate that pCO2 levels have a major influence on porcine CBF and CBV and should be controlled in studies where a constant level is crucial.  相似文献
