We investigated the properties of atomic oxygen-doped (O-doped) models of representative (6,0) and (4,4) silicon carbide nanotubes (SiCNTs) by density functional theory (DFT) calculations of isotropic and anisotropic chemical shielding (CS) parameters of Si-29, O-17 and C-13 atoms for the optimized structures. The calculated parameters indicated the effects of O-doping on the electronic environments of the first neighboring atoms of the doped sites. Comparing the results of the zigzag and armchair models also indicated that the latter model detects more effects of the O-doping than the former one.  相似文献

The genus Pachycladon consists of ten species of alpine plants, nine of which are endemic to New Zealand. The species are closely related to the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana with respect to their sequence divergence and chromosome synteny, occupy distinct geographical habitats in terms of both latitude and altitude, and display a range of morphologies. We have performed label‐free quantitative shotgun proteomic analysis of five different species of Pachycladon, namely P. cheesemanii (CH), P. exile (EX), P. fastigiatum (FA), P. enysii (EN) and P. novae‐zelandiae (NZ). The total non‐redundant data set for all five species contained 1489 proteins. The numbers of proteins identified reproducibly in each species ranged from 629 for CH to 987 for NZ, with 681 for EN, 741 for EX and 934 for FA. Previous metabolite‐based studies have shown that FA hydrolyzes glucosinolates completely to isothiocyanates while EN converts glucosinolates to nitriles. In this study, we observed high expression of ESP (At1g54040, epithiospecifying senescence regulator protein) and myrosinase 2 (At5g25980, glycosyl hydrolase family protein), which result in production of nitriles and epithionitriles, in EN and NZ, and we also observed higher expression of ESM1 (At3g14210, GDSL esterase/lipase), which mediates the formation of isothiocyanate, in FA.  相似文献

Oxidative stress is a factor in a series of diseases and aging, primarily through irreversible oxidative modification of proteins. A major question is how nonenzymatic oxidation has the specificity to impact cellular regulation. Here, we report the degree to which in vivo protein oxidation to the ketone and aldehyde level is random using yeast as a simple model system and hydrogen peroxide as an environmental oxidative stress agent. Among 415 affinity-selected proteins identified throughout the matrix of stressed cells, oxidation sites were found in 87, predominantly on lysine, arginine, proline, histidine, threonine, and methionine residues. In almost all cases, one to two specific oxidation sites on the exterior of proteins were identified using MS-derived sequence and publicly available 3-D structural data. This suggests that, when regulation or disease progression is mediated by protein oxidation, specific new "allotypic active sites" are being created in proteins that trigger the process.  相似文献

Cellular granules lacking boundary membranes harbor RNAs and their associated proteins and play diverse roles controlling the timing and location of protein synthesis. Formation of such granules was emulated by treatment of mouse brain extracts and human cell lysates with a biotinylated isoxazole (b-isox) chemical. Deep sequencing of the associated RNAs revealed an enrichment for mRNAs known to be recruited to neuronal granules used for dendritic transport and localized translation at synapses. Precipitated mRNAs contain extended 3' UTR sequences and an enrichment in binding sites for known granule-associated proteins. Hydrogels composed of the low complexity (LC) sequence domain of FUS recruited and retained the same mRNAs as were selectively precipitated by the b-isox chemical. Phosphorylation of the LC domain of FUS prevented hydrogel retention, offering a conceptual means of dynamic, signal-dependent control of RNA granule assembly.  相似文献

Eukaryotic cells contain assemblies of RNAs and proteins termed RNA granules. Many proteins within these bodies contain KH or RRM RNA-binding domains as well as low complexity (LC) sequences of unknown function. We discovered that exposure of cell or tissue lysates to a biotinylated isoxazole (b-isox) chemical precipitated hundreds of RNA-binding proteins with significant overlap to the constituents of RNA granules. The LC sequences within these proteins are both necessary and sufficient for b-isox-mediated aggregation, and these domains can undergo a concentration-dependent phase transition to a hydrogel-like state in the absence of the chemical. X-ray diffraction and EM studies revealed the hydrogels to be composed of uniformly polymerized amyloid-like fibers. Unlike pathogenic fibers, the LC sequence-based polymers described here are dynamic and accommodate heterotypic polymerization. These observations offer a framework for understanding the function of LC sequences as well as an organizing principle for cellular structures that are not membrane bound.  相似文献

Catalytic combustion of hydrocarbons is an important technology to produce energy. Compared to conventional flame combustion, the catalyst enables this process to operate at lower temperatures; hence, reducing the energy required for efficient combustion. The reaction and activation energies of direct combustion of hydrocarbons (CH?→?C?+?H) on a series of metal surfaces were investigated using density functional theory (DFT). The data obtained for the Ag, Au, Al, Cu, Rh, Pt, and Pd surfaces were used to investigate the validity of the Brønsted-Evans-Polanyi (BEP) and transition state scaling (TSS) relations for this reaction on these surfaces. These relations were found to be valid (R2?=?0.94 for the BEP correlation and R2?=?1.0 for the TSS correlation) and were therefore used to estimate the energetics of the combustion reaction on Ni, Co, and Fe surfaces. It was found that the estimated transition state and activation energies (ETS?=??69.70 eV and Ea?=?1.20 eV for Ni, ETS?=??87.93 eV and Ea?=?1.08 eV for Co and ETS?=??92.45 eV and Ea?=?0.83 eV for Fe) are in agreement with those obtained by DFT calculations (ETS?=??69.98 eV and Ea?=?1.23 eV for Ni, ETS?=??87.88 eV and Ea?=?1.08 eV for Co and ETS?=??92.57 eV and Ea?=?0.79 eV for Fe). Therefore, these relations can be used to predict energetics of this reaction on these surfaces without doing the time consuming transition state calculations. Also, the calculations show that the activation barrier for CH dissociation decreases in the order Ag ? Au ? Al ? Cu ? Pt ? Pd ? Ni?>?Co?>?Rh?>?Fe.  相似文献
