A steady-state nonlinear feedforward controller (FFC) for measurable disturbances is designed for a continuous bioreactor, which is represented by Hammerstein type nonlinear model wherein the nonlinearity is a polynomial with input multiplicities. The manipulated variable is the feed substrate concentration (Sf) and the disturbance variable is the dilution rate (D). The productivity (Q=DP) is considered as the controlled variable. The desired value of Q=3.73 gives two values of feed substrate concentration. The nonlinearity in the gain is considered for relating output to the manipulated variable and separately for the relation between output to disturbance variable. The FFC is also designed for the overall linearized system. The performance of the FFC is evaluated on the nonlinear differential equation model. The FFC is also designed for the model based on a single nonlinear steady-state equation containing both D and Sf. This nonlinear FFC gives the best performance. The nonlinear FFC is also designed by using only linear gain for the disturbance and nonlinear gain for the manipulated variable. Similarly, nonlinear FFC is also designed by using linear gain for the manipulated variable and the nonlinear gain for the disturbance variable. The performances of these FFC schemes are compared.  相似文献

This review paper attempts to provide an overview in the fabrication and application of organic–inorganic based composites in the field of local drug delivery for bone. The concept of local drug delivery exists for a few decades. However, local drug delivery in bone and specially application of composites for delivery of drugs to bone is an area for potential research interest in the recent time. The advantages attained by an organic–inorganic composite when compared to its individual components include their ability to release drug, adopting to the natural environment and supporting local area until complete bone regeneration, which make them carriers of interest for local drug delivery for bone.  相似文献

In animals, circadian rhythms in physiology and behavior result from coherent rhythmic interactions between clocks in the brain and those throughout the body. Despite the many tissue specific clocks, most understanding of the molecular core clock mechanism comes from studies of the suprachiasmatic nuclei (SCN) of the hypothalamus and a few other cell types. Here we report establishment and genetic characterization of three cell-autonomous mouse clock models: 3T3 fibroblasts, 3T3-L1 adipocytes, and MMH-D3 hepatocytes. Each model is genetically tractable and has an integrated luciferase reporter that allows for longitudinal luminescence recording of rhythmic clock gene expression using an inexpensive off-the-shelf microplate reader. To test these cellular models, we generated a library of short hairpin RNAs (shRNAs) against a panel of known clock genes and evaluated their impact on circadian rhythms. Knockdown of Bmal1, Clock, Cry1, and Cry2 each resulted in similar phenotypes in all three models, consistent with previous studies. However, we observed cell type-specific knockdown phenotypes for the Period and Rev-Erb families of clock genes. In particular, Per1 and Per2, which have strong behavioral effects in knockout mice, appear to play different roles in regulating period length and amplitude in these peripheral systems. Per3, which has relatively modest behavioral effects in knockout mice, substantially affects period length in the three cellular models and in dissociated SCN neurons. In summary, this study establishes new cell-autonomous clock models that are of particular relevance to metabolism and suitable for screening for clock modifiers, and reveals previously under-appreciated cell type-specific functions of clock genes.  相似文献

Grey (Areolate) mildew (Ramularia areola) and Alternaria blight (Alternaria macrospora) are two important fungal foliar diseases affecting cotton in India. Both the diseases are polycyclic in nature. The primary inoculum for grey mildew is through conidia or ascospores from infected debris and/or perennial cottons and the secondary spread is through primarily infected leaves. Whereas for Alternaria blight the spread is initially from seed-borne inoculum (in Gossypium herbaceum and Gossypium arboreum cottons) and/or crop debris and the secondary spread is from sporulating lesions on older leaves. Both R. areola and A. macrospora require a temperature regime of 20–30?°C with prolonged high humidity (>80%) and frequent rains for infection and disease development. However, it has been observed that cool weather coupled with prolonged dewy periods in the absence of rains has also been found conducive for the development of both the diseases. So, suitable epidemiological tools and models are required to predict the disease development, spread and to design suitable management practices.  相似文献

The present study investigated the protective efficacy of dl-alpha-lipoic acid (LA) on adriamycin (ADR)-induced oxidative damage in rat testis. Adult male albino rats of Wistar strain were administered ADR (1 mg/kg body weight, i.v.), once a week for 10 weeks. ADR injected rats showed increased oxidative stress with a concomitant decrease in cellular thiols. The mRNA level for phospholipid hydroperoxide glutathione peroxidase (PHGPx) was also significantly decreased by ADR administration. Transmission electron microscopic (TEM) observations of testicular germ cells revealed abnormal ultrastructural changes in ADR treated rats. Treatment with lipoic acid (35 mg/kg body weight, i.p.) 1 day prior to ADR administration, effectively reverted these abnormal changes towards normalcy. These findings indicate a cytoprotective role of LA in this experimental model of testicular toxicity.  相似文献
