Inverse spatially offset Raman spectroscopy (I‐SORS) seeks to interrogate deep inside a Raman‐active, layered, diffusely scattering sample. It makes a collimated laser beam incident onto the sample surface in the form of concentric illumination rings (of varying radii) from whose center the back‐scattered Raman signal is collected for detection. Since formation of illumination rings of different sizes requires an axicon to be moved along the axis of the collimated laser beam and axicons below a certain minimum size (~1 inch) are not readily available, this classical configuration incorporating an axicon cannot be used for designing a compact I‐SORS probe of narrower diameter. We report a novel scheme of implementing I‐SORS which overcomes this limitation by implementing ring illumination and point collection using two multi‐mode optical fibers. An important advantage of the proposed scheme is that unlike the previously reported inverse SORS configurations, it does not require physical movement of any of the optical components for generating spatial offsets needed for probing sub‐surface depths. Another advantage is its fiber‐optic configuration which is ideally suited for designing a compact and pencil‐sized I‐SORS probe, often desired in many practical situations for carrying out depth‐sensitive Raman measurements in situ from a layered turbid sample. 相似文献

Brain fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase (EC 3.1.3.11) from various sources are ordinarily insensitive to 5'-AMP. In addition to stimulation and conferring a "neutral" behaviour, prior treatment with histidine, EDTA or imidazole renders the brain enzyme sensitive to 5'-AMP. The histidine treated enzyme(s) bind to Blue-Sepharose CL-6B column and are specifically eluted by 5'-AMP in contrast to the untreated enzyme(s) which do not bind to the affinity column at all. The histidine effect in inducing 5'-AMP sensitivity was abolished by treatment of the native enzyme by subtilisin or by a number of divalent cations including Zn++. 相似文献

Phosphorylation of external cell-surface proteins by an endogenous ecto-protein kinase of goat epididymal intact spermatozoa 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Intact spermatozoa from goat cauda epididymides possess an ecto-(cyclic AMP-independent protein kinase) activity that causes transfer of the terminal phosphate of exogenously added [gamma-32P]ATP to the serine and threonine residues of several endogenous plasma-membrane phosphoproteins located on the external cell surface. Cyclic AMP, cyclic GMP, calmodulin and muscle cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinases I and II had no appreciable effect on the rate of phosphorylation of ecto-proteins by the intact cells. The ecto-enzyme is not derived from the catalytic subunit of a cyclic AMP-dependent kinase. Sperm ecto-kinase activity is not due to contamination of broken cells or any possible cell damage during incubation and isolation of spermatozoa. The phosphorylation reaction was linear for approx. 1 min and there was no detectable uptake of ATP by these cells. The activity of the ecto-kinase was strongly inhibited by proteinases and by the membrane-nonpenetrating surface probes. The products of the reaction were associated with the intact cells and the 32P of the labelled cells was largely lost when treated with Triton X-100 or proteinases: trypsin and pronase. These data are consistent with the view that the observed protein kinase and the phosphoproteins are located on the external surface of spermatozoa. Vigorously forward-motile whole spermatozoa showed a relatively high capacity to phosphorylate ecto-proteins that undergo rapid turnover. The results suggest the occurrence of a novel coupled-enzyme system (ecto-protein kinase and phosphoprotein phosphatase) on the sperm external surface that may modulate sperm physiology by determining the phosphorylated states of the ecto-proteins. 相似文献

Using data from The World Fertility Survey, this study shows that the length of the preceding birth interval was the most important maternal factor influencing infant and child mortality risks in Bangladesh. This was such a crucial factor that its effects remain unaltered whether or not the influences of mother's age at birth and birth order are controlled. Infant and child mortality in Bangladesh can be expected to decline considerably if successive births can be spaced by an interval of at least 1.5 years. Child spacing seems to be the major factor requiring program attention. The effects of mother's education and place of residence on infant and child mortality are independent of the effects of maternal age at birth, birth order, and the preceding birth interval. The higher survival chances of children of educated mothers resulted neither through the age at which childbearing started nor through birth spacing but are likely to be related to their smaller family size and to other non-maternal proximate determinants of early mortality. 相似文献

Carbon quantum dots (CQDs) are promising carbonaceous nanomaterials fortuitously discovered in 2004. CQDs are the rising stars in the nanotechnology ensemble because of their unique properties and widespread applications in sensing, imaging, medicine, catalysis, and optoelectronics. CQDs are notable for their excellent solubility and effective luminescence and, as a result, they are also known as carbon nanolights. Many strategies are used for the efficient and economical preparation of CQDs; however, CQDs prepared from waste or green sustainable methods have greater requirements due to their safety and ease of synthesis. Sustainable chemical strategies for CQDs have been developed, emphasizing green synthetic methodologies based on ‘top-down’ and ‘bottom-up’ approaches. This review summarizes many such studies relevant to the development of sustainable methods for photoluminescent CQDs. Furthermore, we have emphasized recent advances in CQDs' photoluminescence applications in chemical and biological fields. Finally, a brief overview of synthetic processes using the green source and their associated applications are tabulated, providing a clear understanding of the new optoelectronic materials. 相似文献
