Triamines produced by an extreme thermophile, Thermus thermophilus, were isolated and their chemical structures were determined. It was found that two novel triamines, norspermidine (1,7-diamino-4-azaheptane, NH2(CH2)3· NH(CH2)3NH2) and sym-homospermidine (1,9-diamino-5-azanonane, NH2(CH2)4NH· (CH2)4NH2) are present in the thermophile cells in addition to spermidine (1,8-diamino-4-azaoctane, NH2(CH2)3NH(CH2)4NH2). 相似文献

Our experience with an unusual case of pachydermoperiostosis is described. This case was accompanied by enlargement of the eyelids, excessive secretions, and difficulty in opening the eyes. Partial and serial excisions of the upper and lower eyelids were done to correct the thickened eyelids. In order to assess possible roles of atrial natriuretic factor (ANF) in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR), we examined the content of immunoreactive-ANF in plasma, the atria, hypothalamus and pons of SHR and Wister Kyoto (WKY) rats by radioimmunoassay at different stages of age. With the progression of hypertension, plasma concentration of ANF increased whereas it decreased in the atria in SHR. This suggests ANF is secreted in response to hypertension. On the other hand, at hypothalamus and pons, ANF content was significantly higher in SHR than in WKY rats. This finding suggests possible involvement of ANF in the central regulation of blood pressure. 相似文献

The levels of acyl carrier proteins (ACP) in greening spinachcotyledons and greening oat leaves were examined by immunoblottingwith antiserum raised against spinach ACP I. Two isoforms ofACP, ACP I and ACP II, were found in spinach cotyledons, asthey were in the green leaves. The level of ACP II was higherthan that of ACP I in etiolated cotyledons. The level of ACPI increased markedly with greening. In the greened cotyledons,the major isoform was ACP I as was the case in green spinachleaves. In oat leaves, two isoforms were also identified, oatACPI (about 12kDa) and ACP II (about 17kDa), which cross-reactedwith the antiserum against spinach ACP I, but which were differentfrom spinach ACPs I and II. The levels of oat ACPs I and IIwere very low in etiolated leaves. The increase in levels ofboth ACPs corresponded to the change in the activity of fattyacid synthesis during illumination for 24 h. During furtherillumination for 24 h, the level of ACP II increased a littlein parallel with the change in the activity of fatty acid synthesis,whereas the level of ACP I increased somewhat more. Seasonal dynamics of the fish parasite Neoplagioporus ayu (Digenea; Opecoelidae; Plagioporinae) in its definitive host, the ayu Plecoglossus altivelis, in the Chikugo River, Kyushu, Japan, was examined. Natural ayu are amphidromous. In the upper Chikugo River, ayu fry raised
in hatcheries are released into the river every spring because the migration of ayu is completely blocked by a dam that has
no fish-pass channel. Ayu collected in April 2003 (within 1 month after release) harbored no N. ayu, but the prevalence of N. ayu rose to about 80% in May. The prevalence, abundance, and maturity of N. ayu were maintained at high levels from June to September. These finding indicate that the life cycle of N. ayu is completed in a freshwater area, although its intermediate hosts have not yet been identified despite the intense examination
