During long-term monitoring (more than 20 years) of the hydrologic regime at 20 mountainous sites in the Czech Republic (altitude
600–1400 m a.s.l.; vegetation season April-September; mean air temperature 8–10°C; mean total precipitation 400–700 mm; mean
duration of sunshine 1100–1300 hours; mean potential transpiration 200–250 mm) it was found that plant temperature does not
rise above about 25°C when plants transpire. According to the ecological optimality theory, the phytocenosis that is able
to survive unfavourable conditions and produce the biggest amount of phytomass will prevail at sites occurring in long-term
stable natural conditions. Simulation of phytomass productivity based on the optimum temperature for plant growth showed that
plants with an optimum leaf temperature of about 25°C can survive the unfavourable conditions and produce the largest amount

The formation of (4R)-4-carbamoyl-4-[(4R)-3-O-benzyl-1,2-O-isopropylidene-β-l-threofuranos-4-C-yl]-oxazolidin-2-one instead of expected imidazolidin-2,4-dione (hydantoin) derivative from 5-amino-5-cyano-5-deoxy-3-O-benzyl-1,2-O-isopropylidene-α-d-glucofuranose or 3-O-benzyl-1,2-O-isopropylidene-α-d-xylo-hexofuranos-5-ulose under Bucherer-Bergs reaction conditions is reported. Single crystal X-ray diffraction data revealed that 3T4 is the prefered conformation for the furanose ring, while E2 and 2T1 conformations are adopted by the 1,3-dioxolane and 2-oxazolidinone five-membered rings, respectively. 相似文献

The photosynthetic origin of apicomplexan parasites was proposed upon the discovery of a reduced non-photosynthetic plastid termed the apicoplast in their cells. Although it is clear that the apicoplast has evolved through a secondary endosymbiosis, its particular origin within the red or green plastid lineage remains controversial. The recent discovery of Chromera velia, the closest known photosynthetic relative to apicomplexan parasites, sheds new light on the evolutionary history of alveolate plastids. Here we review our knowledge on the evolutionary history of Apicomplexa and particularly their plastids, with a focus on the pathway by which they evolved from free-living heterotrophs through photoautotrophs to omnipresent obligatory intracellular parasites. New sequences from C. velia (histones H2A, H2B; GAPDH, TufA) and phylogenetic analyses are also presented and discussed here. 相似文献

The aim of this study was to validate the ability of postconditioning, used 2 days after kainate intoxication, to protect selectively vulnerable hippocampal CA1 neurons against delayed neuronal death. Kainic acid (8 mg/kg, i.p.) was used to induce neurodegeneration of pyramidal CA1 neurons in rat hippocampus. Fluoro Jade B, the specific marker of neurodegeneration, and NeuN, a specific neuronal marker were used for visualization of changes 7 days after intoxication without and with delayed postconditioning (norepinephrine, 3.1 μmol/kg i.p., 2 days after kainate administration) and anticonditioning (Extract of Ginkgo biloba, 40 mg/kg p.o used simultaneously with kainate). Morris water maze was used on 6th and 7th day after kainate to test learning and memory capabilities of animals. Our results confirm that postconditioning if used at right time and with optimal intensity is able to prevent delayed neuronal death initiated not only by ischemia but kainate intoxication, too. The protective effect of repeated stress–postconditioning was suppressed if extract of Ginkgo biloba (EGb 761, 40 mg/kg p.o.) has been administered together with kainic acid. It seems that combination of lethal stress and antioxidant treatment blocks the activation of endogenous protecting mechanism known as ischemic tolerance, aggravates neurodegeneration and, after repeated stress is able to cause cumulative damage. This observation could be very valuable in situation when the aim of treatment is elimination of unwanted cell population from the organism. 相似文献

In order to investigate the S-RNase allele structure of a Prunus webbii population from the Montenegrin region of the Balkans, we analyzed 10 Prunus webbii accessions. We detected 10 different S-RNase allelic variants and obtained the nucleotide sequences for six S-RNases. The BLAST analysis showed that these six sequences were new Prunus webbii S-RNase alleles. It also revealed that one of sequenced alleles, S(9)-RNase, coded for an amino acid sequence identical to that for Prunus dulcis S(14)-RNase, except for a single conservative amino acid replacement in the signal peptide region. Another, S(3)-RNase, was shown to differ by only three amino acid residues from Prunus salicina Se-RNase. The allele S(7)-RNase was found to be inactive by stylar protein isoelectric focusing followed by RNase-specific staining, but the reason for the inactivity was not at the coding sequence level. Further, in five of the 10 analyzed accessions, we detected the presence of one active basic RNase (marked PW(1)) that did not amplify with S-RNase-specific DNA primers. However, it was amplified with primers designed from the PA1 RNase nucleotide sequence (basic "non-S RNase" of Prunus avium) and the obtained sequence showed high homology (80%) with the PA1 allele. Although homologs of PA1 "non-S RNases" have been reported in four other Prunus species, this is the first recorded homolog in Prunus webbii. The evolutionary implications of the data are discussed. 相似文献

The effects of the interactions of soil filamentous fungi (including saprotrophic, mycorrhizal and endophytic fungi) on several
morphological and physiological parameters of Norway spruce seedlings [Picea abies (L.) Karst.] were studied in a pot experiment. Both mycorrhizal variants (Hebeloma bryogenes and Cadophora finlandica) were slightly inhibited with respect to the accumulation of aboveground biomass. However, these variants exhibited significantly
improved foliar content of N, P, and Ca (H. bryogenes variant also K), compared to controls. The presence of the saprotrophic fungus Setulipes androsaceus attenuated the positive effect of mycorrhizal fungi on Ca, P, and K content, but did not reduce the positive effect of mycorrhizal
fungi on the N content of the seedlings’ needles. Raman spectroscopy revealed that both mycorrhizal fungi increased the foliar
content of carotenoids compared to the controls, but the effect diminished in the presence of S. androsaceus. In contrast, in the presence of the dark septate endophyte Phialocephala fortinii, needles exhibited significantly higher wax content and lower carotenoid content compared to the mycorrhizal variants. The
presence of the saprotrophic isolate Serpula himantoides resulted in a decrease in needle waxes in comparison to controls. The needles’ carotenoid concentration was positively correlated
with the levels of needle nutrients (N, P, K, Ca, Mg), while correlation of needle nutrients (N, P) with the needle wax concentration
was negative. We conclude that not only individual fungi but also their interactions profoundly affect the nutrition and needle

Ustilago maydis is able to initiate pathogenic development after fusion of two haploid cells with different mating type. On the maize leaf surface, the resulting dikaryon switches to filamentous growth, differentiates appressoria and penetrates the host. Here, we report on the plant signals required for filament formation and appressorium development in U. maydis. In vitro , hydroxy-fatty acids stimulate filament formation via the induction of pheromone genes and this signal can be bypassed by genetically activating the downstream MAP kinase module. Hydrophobicity also induces filaments and these resemble the dikaryotic filaments formed on the plant surface. With the help of a marker gene that is specifically expressed in the tip cell of those hyphae that have formed an appressorium, hydrophobicity is shown to be essential for appressorium development in vitro . Hydroxy-fatty acids or a cutin monomer mixture isolated from maize leaves have a stimulatory role when a hydrophobic surface is provided. Our results suggest that the early phase of communication between U. maydis and its host plant is governed by two different stimuli. 相似文献
