Zusammenfassung Unter Einsatz einer neuartigen, direkt vergrößernden Röntgentechnologie wurde die Konstruktion des Schnabelskeletts von schlupfreifen Jungvögeln untersucht. Wie die bei Verwendung sog. Mikrofokus-Röntgengeräte erzielten Röntgenaufnahmen erkennen lassen, weist das Schnabelskelett der Schlüpflinge — unabhängig vom Entwicklungsmodus — bei allen untersuchten Formen einen recht einheitlichen Bau auf. Sowohl der Ossifikationsgrad der Kiefer als auch die spezifische Osteoarchitektur der Knochenelemente des Schnabelapparates, insbesondere im Bereich der Substantia spongiosa des Os praemaxillare können als anatomische Anpassungen an die beim Sprengen der Eischale auftretenden mechanischen Belastungen des Kieferskeletts gewertet werden.
Construction principles of the beak skeleton in the hatchling
Summary The structure of the beak skeleton of hatchlings was analysed using a new direct magnifying X-ray technique. The application of these microfocus X-ray systems reveals a quite uniform construction of the beak skeleton in the hatchlings, independent from the mode of development of the bird species groups studied (precocial, altricial etc.). The amount of ossification as well as the specific osteoarchitecture of the jaw bones of the beak apparatus — especially in the region of Substantia spongiosa of the Os praemaxillare — may be considered as an anatomical adaptation to mechanical stress of the jaw bones during picking of the eggshell.

Zusammenfassung Aufnahme und Speicherung des basischen Phenazinfarbstoffes Neutralrot werden in Abhängigkeit von Färbezeit, Konzentration und pH-Wert der Außenlösung quantitativ gemessen. Bei pH 6,75 stellen sich nach etwa 3000 sec außenkonzentrationsabhängige Gleichgewichtskonzentrationen in der Vacuole ein, bei pH 9,6 wird derselbe Endzustand nach bereits etwa 1000 sec erreicht. Der Speicherungsfaktor zeigt einen bereits bei hohen Außenkonzentrationen beginnenden stetigen Anstieg mit fallender Außenkonzentration. Die Beteiligung metaosmotischer und nichtosmotischer Stoffaufnahme- und Speicherungsvorgänge wird diskutiert. Der konzentrationsabhängige, relative Verlauf des Speicherungsfaktors ist jedoch zeitunabhängig, so daß bei einer Annahme metaosmotischer und nichtosmotischer zusätzlicher Aufnahme- und Speicherungsprozesse gewisse Einschränkungen hinsichtlich ihrer möglichen Zeitabhängigkeiten beachtet werden müßten.Mit 14 Textabbildungen  相似文献

High-resolution crystal structures of large ribosomal subunits from Deinococcus radiodurans complexed with tRNA-mimics indicate that precise substrate positioning, mandatory for efficient protein biosynthesis with no further conformational rearrangements, is governed by remote interactions of the tRNA helical features. Based on the peptidyl transferase center (PTC) architecture, on the placement of tRNA mimics, and on the existence of a two-fold related region consisting of about 180 nucleotides of the 23S RNA, we proposed a unified mechanism integrating peptide bond formation, A-to-P site translocation, and the entrance of the nascent protein into its exit tunnel. This mechanism implies sovereign, albeit correlated, motions of the tRNA termini and includes a spiral rotation of the A-site tRNA-3' end around a local two-fold rotation axis, identified within the PTC. PTC features, ensuring the precise orientation required for the A-site nucleophilic attack on the P-site carbonyl-carbon, guide these motions. Solvent mediated hydrogen transfer appears to facilitate peptide bond formation in conjunction with the spiral rotation. The detection of similar two-fold symmetry-related regions in all known structures of the large ribosomal subunit, indicate the universality of this mechanism, and emphasizes the significance of the ribosomal template for the precise alignment of the substrates as well as for accurate and efficient translocation. The symmetry-related region may also be involved in regulatory tasks, such as signal transmission between the ribosomal features facilitating the entrance and the release of the tRNA molecules. The protein exit tunnel is an additional feature that has a role in cellular regulation. We showed by crystallographic methods that this tunnel is capable of undergoing conformational oscillations and correlated the tunnel mobility with sequence discrimination, gating and intracellular regulation.  相似文献

Using antibodies raised against two sunflower small heat shock proteins (sHSPs), we have detected immunologically related proteins in unstressed vegetative tissues from the resurrection plant Craterostigma plantagineum. In whole plants, further accumulation of these polypeptides was induced by heat-shock or water-stress. In desiccation-intolerant Craterostigma callus tissue, we failed to detect sHSP-related polypeptides, but their expression, and the concurrent acquisition of desiccation tolerance was induced by exogenous abscisic acid (ABA) treatment. In untressed plants, the cross-reacting polypeptides were abundant in the roots and lower part of the shoots, where they showed homogeneous tissue-distributions. This constitutive expression is novel for vegetative tissues of higher plants, and resembles the expression patterns of sHSPs in desiccation-tolerant zygotic embryos and germinating seeds.J.A. and C.A. contributed equally to this work and are both considered to be first author  相似文献

Larvae of the two southern hemisphere lamprey genera, Mordacia and Geotria, possess one and two intestinal diverticula, respectively, each originating at the oesophageal-intestinal junction. These diverticula comprise an inner layer of simple columnar epithelium composed solely of zymogen and mucous cells, a middle layer consisting mainly of a blood sinus, and an outer serosa layer covered by a simple squamous epithelium (mesothelium). The inner surface is highly folded only in Mordacia. The secretion of mucus probably protects the epithelium from the effects of digestive enzymes secreted by the zymogen cells and/or bile, which enters the diverticulum at its tip. Unlike the situation in southern hemisphere lampreys, the zymogen cells of the larvae of holarctic lampreys are located in the anterior intestine, a condition considered to be primitive. It is thus proposed that intestinal diverticula were developed during the evolution of southern hemisphere lampreys. The relocation of zymogen cells in the diverticula increases the area for these cells, and thus the capacity for the synthesis and secretion of digestive enzymes, particularly in Mordacia where the inner surface is folded.  相似文献

NMRI mouse and Djungarian hamster females ovulate diploid and/or hyperploid oocytes with increased frequencies after gonadotrophin stimulation, suggesting that somatic cells are involved in the failures of endocrine control resulting in aneuploidy. To study the inheritance of gonadotrophin-induced aneuploidy as well as the fate of sensitive oocytes in a resistant somatic environment and vice versa, we analysed the frequency of diploid oocytes in NMRI/Han, C57BL/6J and their F1 hybrids (C57BL/6J X NMRI/Han), (NMRI/Han X C57BL/6J) as well as in NMRI/Han in equilibrium C57BL/6J chimeric females after gonadotrophin injections. Ovulated oocytes were analysed in all females for the appearance of diploidy, characterized as premature arrest of development at metaphase I. Our data suggest that the trait of induced diploidy is genetically determined and can be transmitted either maternally or paternally. A maternal effect modulated the expression of that trait. Several mechanisms acting on the feed-back control ovary-hypothalamus/pituitary, within the ovary or even within a chimeric follicle, may be responsible that 'sensitive' oocytes ovulated from chimeras are all normal haploid. These data suggest that not only oocyte maturation but also chromosome disjunction during meiosis I is controlled by somatic cells.  相似文献

Summary Studying the blood picture of 11 patients with Martin-Bell syndrome, we found the erythrocytes relatively hyperchromic when compared to the data from 171 matched controls living in the same institution. Because mean corpuscular hemoglobin is increased also in patients with folic acid deficiency states, we feel that our data provide further evidence that Martin-Bell syndrome is an inherited disease of folate metabolism.The data were first presented at the 18th Meeting of the Gesellschaft für Anthropologie und Humangenetik, Münster/Westf., October 5–8, 1983  相似文献
