Summary The changes in the serum glycoproteins and the development of specific antibodies were examined during the course of experimental coccidioidomycosis in rats. The total glycoprotein, seromucoid hexose, seromucoid protein, and haptoglobin levels were signigicantly higher in sera from infected animals compared with sera from non-infected controls. These changes were evident at three days but not at two weeks following inoculation withC. immitis. The non-seromucoid hexose and total protein concentrations were not significantly different between infected animals and controls. The task-oriented groups considered here consist of a number of individuals, each having initially one piece of information
which must be transmitted to all the others to complete the task. Interest is centered on the communication net which restricts
the possible channels for messages. At every sending time each individual sends all the information he has acquired to one
other individual; the major assumption here is that this recipient is chosen at random from the possibilities given by the
communication net. The information state is defined as a matrix which shows where the initial information has spread. These
matrices can be considered as the states of a Markov chain, and in this way the distribution of completion times for the task
is obtained. Some special cases are worked out and generalizations are indicated.
A proof is given of the formula for the shortest possible completion time in any net when a fixed number of messages is sent

Temperature and Effects of Seed-borne Botrytis cinerea or Alternaria linicola on Emergence of Linseed (Linum usitatissimum) Seedlings 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Experiments were done at temperatures from 5 to 20 C to investigate the effects of infection of linseed seed (cv. Antares) by Botrytis cinerea or Alternaria linicola on seedling emergence and to study transmission of the pathogens from seed to seedlings. In one experiment with freshly harvested seed, the maximum percentage emergence decreased linearly as the incidence of B. cinerea in seed increased from 0 to 83% at 18 C day/12 C night temperatures. In another experiment, the decrease in percentage emergence of seed associated with infection by B. cinerea. the transmission of the pathogen to seedlings to produce disease symptoms on their hypocotyls and the incidence of post-emergence death all increased as temperature decreased from 20 to 5 C. However, the decrease in percentage emergence of seed associated with infection by A. linicola and the transmission of the pathogen to seedlings to produce cotyledon lesions both increased as temperature increased from 5 to 20 C. There was little effect of either pathogen on the time from sowing to 36% of maximum emergence, which decreased with increasing temperature. In a subsequent experiment at 10 C comparing seed infected with B.cinerea or A. linicola. using the same seed sources as in the previous experiments, infection by A. linicola decreased emergence more than infection by B. cinerea , even though the incidence of A. linicola in the seed was smaller. Analyses of position and parallelism suggested that regressions of maximum percentage emergence (logitransformed) against temperature were fitted best by non-parallel lines for seed infected by B. cinerea or A. linicola. 相似文献
