To date, there has been little agreement on supporting the hypothesis that how some key vegetative traits of camelina (Camelina sativa (L.) Crantz var. ‘Soheil’) are dependent on plant biomass. Therefore, the main aim of this investigation was to quantify the relationship between the size of camelina plants and seed production across a broad-range of plant densities through modelling approaches. To make a wide range of plant densities, a fan design was used in eight replicates in an experimental field at Sari Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources University, Iran. To quantify the relation between plant density and other plant traits, a regression analysis was carried out and the coefficient of determination (R2) was considered to evaluate the goodness of fit model. A power model (y = axb) could describe well the relationship between plant density (ranged 113–2905 plants m−2) and plant biomass, seed production, number of seeds per plant, stem diameter, and siliques number, with the coefficient of determination (R2) values of 0.85, 0.87, 0.65, 0.64, and 0.90, respectively. The harvest indexes were 13.8%–26.9%, depending on plant density. Seed production per plant was positively correlated to the siliques number (r = 0.85), the branch number (r = 0.80), and the seed number (r = 0.99) which could be key components of camelina seed production per plant. Furthermore, no significant correlation was found among plant height, thousand-seed weight, and harvest index with seed production per plant. In conclusion, plant biomass could be considered an important trait to predict plant growth models of camelina. Also, a lower plant density of camelina can be compensated by a greater number of siliques, branches and seeds per plant.  相似文献

Umbilical cord Wharton's jelly-derived mesenchymal stem cells (WJ-MSCs) have recently gained considerable attention in the field of regenerative medicine. Their high proliferation rate, differentiation ability into various cell lineages, easy collection procedure, immuno-privileged status, nontumorigenic properties along with minor ethical issues make them an ideal approach for tissue repair. Besides, the number of WJ-MSCs in the umbilical cord samples is high as compared to other sources. Because of these properties, WJ-MSCs have rapidly advanced into clinical trials for the treatment of a wide range of disorders. Therefore, this paper summarized the current preclinical and clinical studies performed to investigate the regenerative potential of WJ-MSCs in neural, myocardial, skin, liver, kidney, cartilage, bone, muscle, and other tissue injuries.  相似文献

Electrical stimulation (ES) has been shown to improve some of impairments after spinal cord injury (SCI), but the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. The Wnt signaling pathways and the endocannabinoid system appear to be modulated in response to SCI. This study aimed to investigate the effect of ES therapy on the activity of canonical/noncanonical Wnt signaling pathways, brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), and fatty-acid amide hydrolase (FAAH), which regulate endocannabinoids levels. Forty male Wistar rats were randomly divided into four groups: (a) Sham, (b) laminectomy + epidural subthreshold ES, (c) SCI, and (d) SCI + epidural subthreshold ES. A moderate contusion SCI was performed at the thoracic level (T10). Epidural subthreshold ES was delivered to upper the level of T10 segment every day (1 hr/rat) for 2 weeks. Then, animals were killed and immunoblotting was used to assess spinal cord parameters. Results revealed that ES intervention for 14 days could significantly increase wingless-type3 (Wnt3), Wnt7, β-catenin, Nestin, and cyclin D1 levels, as well as phosphorylation of glycogen synthase kinase 3β and Jun N-terminal kinase. Additionally, SCI reduced BDNF and FAAH levels, and ES increased BDNF and FAAH levels in the injury site. We propose that ES therapy may improve some of impairments after SCI through Wnt signaling pathways. Outcomes also suggest that BDNF and FAAH are important players in the beneficial impacts of ES therapy. However, the precise mechanism of BDNF, FAAH, and Wnt signaling pathways on SCI requires further investigation.  相似文献

Background: Campylobacter spp. are the main cause of human gastroenteritis. The 16SrRNA sequencing is one of fast molecualr method to detect this fastidious. In this study, we compared the sequencing of 16srRNA genewith four housekeeping genestodetect Campylobacter spp. in patients with diarrhea and healthy people.Methods:60 samples of Campylobacter DNA extracted from stool samples of 30 patients with diarrhea and 30 healthy people were used. In order to detect Campylobacter, we designed primers for proliferation of 16SrRNA, cadF, dnaJ, slyD , and rpoA genes using Primer 3, Mega 4.0 and Blast software. Then the PCR products were sequenced using ABI system.Results:The sequencing showed concordance of PCR-products with deposited sequences in the Gene Bank. Among diarrhea patients, 53.3% of samples were significantly (p< 0.05) positive for slyD and cadF genes and 50% of samples were positive using 16SrRNA, rpoA, and dnaJ genes by PCR assay. The average of sensitivity and specificity were found 53.33% and 83.33%, respectively.Conclusion:Due to various copies of repeated sequences of 16SrRNA gene, analyzing its amplicons on electrophoresis may be more difficult than the slyD and cadF genes. According to our results, among the 5 studied genes; the highest detection rate was related to slyD and cadF genes. Although, dnaJ and rpoA genes,instead of 16SrRNA gene, can be considered as appropriate genes for molecular detection of Campylobacter bacteria.  相似文献

Neutron capture therapy (NCT) is a targeted radiotherapy for cancer treatment. In this method, neutrons with a spectra/specific energy (depending on the type of agent used for NCT) are captured with an agent that has a high cross-section with these neutrons. There are some agents that have been proposed in NCT including 10B, 157Gd and 33S. Among these agents, only 10B is used in clinical trials. Application of 157Gd is limited to in-vivo and in-vitro research. In addition, 33S has been applied in the field of Monte Carlo simulation. In BNCT, the only two delivery agents which are presently applied in clinical trials are BPA and BSH, but other delivery systems are being developed for more effective treatment in NCT. Neutron sources used in NCT are fission reactors, accelerators, and 252Cf. Among these, fission reactors have the most application in NCT. So far, BNCT has been applied to treat various cancers including glioblastoma multiforme, malignant glioma, malignant meningioma, liver, head and neck, lung, colon, melanoma, thyroid, hepatic, gastrointestinal cancer, and extra-mammary Paget's disease. This paper aims to review physical, dosimetric and clinical aspects as well as delivery systems in NCT for various agents.  相似文献

Background

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one the leading causes of cancer related deaths among Iranians. Despite the various progresses in new therapeutic methods, it has still a low rate of survival. This high ratio of mortality is mainly related to the late diagnosis, in which the patients refer for treatment in advanced stages of tumor.

Main body

colorectal cancer progression is largely associated with molecular and genetic bases. Although Iran has a high ratio of CRC mortality, there is not an efficient genetic panel for detection and prognosis. Therefore, it is critical to introduce new diagnostic markers with ability to detect in early stages.

Conclusion

Present review summarizes all of the genetic and epigenetic factors which are reported in CRC until now among the Iranian patients to pave the way of incorporation of new ethnic specific markers into the clinical practice and development of new targeted therapeutic methods.

Objective

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is one of the most prevalent chronic autoimmune diseases; it typically involves the hands, wrists, ankles, and eventually all joints. Some studies have reported that zinc serum levels are lower in patients with RA than in healthy individuals.

Materials and Methods

Seventy-nine patients with RAwere selected. The patients were all less than 75 years old and were diagnosed by a rheumatologist. Serum zinc levels were measured using the flame photometry method with a blood sample of 5 mL. The relationship between the average serum zinc level and disease activity was analyzed based on the DAS28 scoring scale for different RA groups. The significance threshold was set at p<0.05. Data analyses were implemented in SPSS 22.0.

Results

There was a significant inverse relationship between the serum zinc levels and disease activity. Chi-square tests were used to compare zinc serum levels with respect to disease activity. There were significant differences in zinc levels among three groups of patients with different levels of disease severity, such that disease activity increased as the serum zinc level decreased (p<0.001).

Conclusion

There was a significant inverse relationship between the serum zinc level and RA activity based on the DAS28 score. Therefore, it is recommended that mineral deficiencies should be addressed by optimizing the zinc supply along with other standard medications in order to reduce RA activity.

This study describes the length–weight and length–length relationships for three cyprinid species from the Bibi‐Sayyedan River (western Isfahan provinces, Iran). The slope parameter (b) values in the length–weight relationship equations were determined as 3.0729 for Alburnus mossulensis Heckel, 1843; 2.8509 for Barbus lacerta Heckel, 1843; and 3.0864 for Chondrostoma regium (Heckel, 1843). This study presents the first LWR and LLR references for these species in the Bibi‐Sayyedan River.  相似文献

Aims

Granulocyte colony stimulating factor (G-CSF), a new neuroprotective agent, binds to its specific receptors in the brain. In this study we hypothesized that at least a part of G-CSF's neuroprotective effect may be mediated through its interaction with other proteins in the brain.

Main methods

Using an immunoprecipitation (IP) kit, at first the antibody of G-CSF was covalently crosslinked to protein A/G agarose. Then the mouse brain or PC12 cell lysate mixed with G-CSF was added to the agarose beads plus antibody. After immunoaffinity isolation of target proteins, gel electrophoresis was performed and protein bands were identified using MALDI-TOF/TOF and MASCOT software.

Key findings

Our data show that G-CSF physically binds to cellular proteins like sodium/potassium-transporting ATPase, beta actin, aldehyde dehydrogenase, regucalcin and glutathione-s-transferase. These proteins are involved in membrane transportation, cell structure, signal transduction, enzymes involve in calcium related cell signaling and redox homeostasis.

Significance

Interaction of G-CSF with these proteins can explain some of its pharmacological effects in the CNS.  相似文献
