Metallic nanoparticles display distinct localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) properties that depend on their size, shape, and composition and that can be monitored to characterize their growth. Utilizing LSPR properties, we report the first investigation of ambient temperature formation of trioctylamine (TOA)-stabilized spherical silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) of ~3.0-nm diameter by mild reduction of AgClO4 with the weak reducing agent heptamethyltrisiloxane in organic solvent. The appropriate choice of experimental conditions caused slow reduction, which allowed the study of the nanoparticle growth process by time-resolved UV–visible spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The linear nanoparticle growth kinetics from 50 min to end of the reaction derived from LSPR changes, the absence of a bimodal size distribution during the initial stage of the reduction process from TEM analysis, and the single crystallinity of the resulting AgNPs suggested a diffusion-controlled Ostwald-ripening growth process. It was also found that in addition to its stabilizing ability, TOA acted as a catalyst and facilitated Ag+ reduction. Furthermore, a modest increase in reaction temperature caused a substantial enhancement in the AgNP formation rate, and low concentration of stabilizing ligand yielded an increase in size and dispersity.  相似文献

Recent characterization of lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) receptors has made possible studies elucidating the structure-activity relationships (SAR) for agonist activity at individual receptors. Additionally, the availability of these receptors has allowed the identification of antagonists of LPA-induced effects. Two receptor-subtype selective LPA receptor antagonists, one selective for the LPA1/EDG2 receptor (a benzyl-4-oxybenzyl N-acyl ethanolamide phosphate, NAEPA, derivative) and the other selective for the LPA3/EDG7 receptor (diacylglycerol pyrophosphate, DGPP, 8:0), have recently been reported. The receptor SAR for both agonists and antagonists are reviewed, and the molecular basis for the difference between agonism and antagonism as well as for receptor-subtype antagonist selectivity identified by molecular modeling is described. The implications of the newly available receptor-subtype selective antagonists are also discussed.  相似文献

The non-covalent immobilization of a commercial preparation of xylanase from A. niger was carried out on a reversibly soluble-insoluble enteric polymer Eudragit(TM) L-100. The immobilization of the xylanase activity by adsorption was simultaneously accompanied by removal of cellulase activity since the latter did not bind to the polymer. Thus, the soluble enzyme derivative may be useful for treatment of paper pulp bleaching in paper industry. The immobilized xylanase retained 60% of its activity toward xylan as the substrate. No change was observed in the pH optimum (5.5) of the enzyme upon immobilization. Only marginal increase in the K(m) of the free enzyme (3.6 mg ml(-1) to 5.0 mg ml(-1)) upon immobilization on the soluble polymer reflected that the enzyme-substrate binding continues to be efficient in spite of the macromolecular nature of the substrate. Fluorescence spectroscopy and UV difference spectroscopy were used to probe the change(s) in the enzyme structure upon immobilization. This change in structure was correlated with the "effectiveness factor" of the enzyme activity. CD spectra also showed that the enzyme undergoes drastic changes in the structure.  相似文献

p21-activated kinases (PAKs) are a family of serine/threonine kinases whose activity is regulated by the binding of the small Rho family GTPases as well as by RhoGTPase independent mechanisms. PAKs have wide-ranging functions which include cytoskeletal organisation, cell motility, cell proliferation and survival. We have identified a PAK from Entamoeba histolytica - EhPAK3 that is distributed in the cytoplasm of unstimulated cells and localizes to the caps after induction of capping with Concanavalin A. EhPAK3 contains a GTPase interacting (CRIB) domain, an N-terminal pleckstrin homology (PH) domain and a C-terminal kinase domain. Among the PAKs of E. histolytica studied so far, EhPAK3 bears the maximum similarity to Dictyostelium discoideum PAKC (DdPAKC). Phylogenetic analysis showed that EhPAK3 was closely related to DdPAKC and forms a group with DdPAKA, Dd Myosin I heavy chain kinase (DdMIHCK), and a PAK reported earlier from E. histolytica EhPAK2. Recombinant full-length EhPAK3 undergoes auotophosphorylation and phosphorylates histone H1 in vitro in the absence of any small GTPase. This is the first comprehensive characterization of a PAK protein from E. histolytica, which has constitutive activity and has demonstrated a strong involvement in receptor capping.  相似文献

The present study was performed to assess the HPLC‐DAD analysis as well as antioxidant and protective effects of Tunisian Rhanterium suaveolens (Rs) against acetamiprid (ACT) induced oxidative stress on mice erythrocytes. The in vitro assays showed that the methanolic extract of Rs has an impressive antioxidant effect proved by testing the total antioxidant and scavenging activities using BCB, DPPH and ABTS assays, respectively. Moreover, qualitative and quantitative analysis using HPLC‐DAD revealed the richness of Rs in polyphenols where p‐Coumaric, Apigenin‐7‐glucoside and Ferulic acid were detected as the most abundant polyphenols. In the in vivo experiment, ACT, used as a toxicity model, was given to mice at a dose of 20 mg/kg. The latter was the origin of hemolytic anemia characterized by a significant decrease in red blood cells, hemoglobin and hematocrit levels and an increase in bilirubin, LDH, osmotic fragility, reticulocytes and white blood cells number. Characteristic erythrocyte morphological alterations were also determined as spherocytosis, schistocytosis and dacryocystitis. The oxidative status of ACT‐treated mice was also altered manifested by a significant increase in MDA and GSH levels and a decrease in SOD, CAT and GPx activities. When receiving the Rs methanolic extract at a dose of 300 mg/kg, all the parameters cited above were restored in mice. These remarkable corrections could only confirm the important antioxidant effect and the noticeable protective properties that possess Rs owing to its broad range of secondary bioactive metabolites.  相似文献

A tunable stochastic geometry based Three-Dimensional (3-D) scattering model for emerging land mobile radio cellular systems is proposed. Uniformly distributed scattering objects are assumed around the Mobile Station (MS) bounded within an ellipsoidal shaped Scattering Region (SR) hollowed with an elliptically-cylindric scattering free region in immediate vicinity of MS. To ensure the degree of expected accuracy, the proposed model is designed to be tunable (as required) with nine degrees of freedom, unlike its counterparts in the existing literature. The outer and inner boundaries of SR are designed as independently scalable along all the axes and rotatable in horizontal plane around their origin centered at MS. The elevated Base Station (BS) is considered outside the SR at a certain adjustable distance and height w.r.t. position of MS. Closed-form analytical expressions for joint and marginal Probability Density Functions (PDFs) of Angle-of-Arrival (AoA) and Time-of-Arrival (ToA) are derived for both up- and down-links. The obtained analytical results for angular and temporal statistics of the channel are presented along with a thorough analysis. The impact of various physical model parameters on angular and temporal characteristics of the channel is presented, which reveals the comprehensive insight on the proposed results. To evaluate the robustness of the proposed analytical model, a comparison with experimental datasets and simulation results is also presented. The obtained analytical results for PDF of AoA observed at BS are seen to fit a vast range of empirical datasets in the literature taken for various outdoor propagation environments. In order to establish the validity of the obtained analytical results for spatial and temporal characteristics of the channel, a comparison of the proposed analytical results with the simulation results is shown, which illustrates a good fit for 107 scattering points. Moreover, the proposed model is shown to degenerate to various notable geometric models in the literature by an appropriate choice of a few parameters.  相似文献

Incidence of cholera outbreak is a serious issue in underdeveloped and developing countries. In Zimbabwe, after the massive outbreak in 2008–09, cholera cases and deaths are reported every year from some provinces. Substantial number of reported cholera cases in some provinces during and after the epidemic in 2008–09 indicates a plausible presence of seasonality in cholera incidence in those regions. We formulate a compartmental mathematical model with periodic slow-fast transmission rate to study such recurrent occurrences and fitted the model to cumulative cholera cases and deaths for different provinces of Zimbabwe from the beginning of cholera outbreak in 2008–09 to June 2011. Daily and weekly reported cholera incidence data were collected from Zimbabwe epidemiological bulletin, Zimbabwe Daily cholera updates and Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs Zimbabwe (OCHA, Zimbabwe). For each province, the basic reproduction number () in periodic environment is estimated. To the best of our knowledge, this is probably a pioneering attempt to estimate in periodic environment using real-life data set of cholera epidemic for Zimbabwe. Our estimates of agree with the previous estimate for some provinces but differ significantly for Bulawayo, Mashonaland West, Manicaland, Matabeleland South and Matabeleland North. Seasonal trend in cholera incidence is observed in Harare, Mashonaland West, Mashonaland East, Manicaland and Matabeleland South. Our result suggests that, slow transmission is a dominating factor for cholera transmission in most of these provinces. Our model projects cholera cases and cholera deaths during the end of the epidemic in 2008–09 to January 1, 2012. We also determine an optimal cost-effective control strategy among the four government undertaken interventions namely promoting hand-hygiene & clean water distribution, vaccination, treatment and sanitation for each province.  相似文献
