Response of physiologic metabolism and cell structures in mango fruit to exogenous methyl salicylate under low-temperature stress 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
We explored the effects of exogenous methyl salicylate (MeSA) on the development of chilling injury symptom, and the structure and composition of the pericarp, in mango ( Mangifera indica L. cv. 'Red 6') fruit under low-temperature stress using histochemical analysis and scanning electron microscopy together with Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) analysis. The results indicated that chilling injury symptom was remarkably limited in the fruit treated with MeSA at 0.1 m M as compared to the 5°C control, demonstrating the positive effects of MeSA in reducing chilling injury of mango fruit in low-temperature storage. In MeSA-treated fruit, the pericarp wax surface showed many cracks, and exocarp cells exhibited normal separation. The cell wall of exocarp contained lower amounts of pectic substances, aliphatics and phenolics in MeSA-treated fruit. In addition, MeSA-treated fruit contained more esterified substances and less carboxylate and carboxyl substances. Our work revealed the importance of MeSA in enhancing fruit tolerance to low-temperature stress and suggested a contribution of cellular structure and composition to this effect, which has not been reported previously. 相似文献

Plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDC) are an important component of the innate immune response, producing large amounts of alpha interferon in response to viral stimulation in vitro. Under noninflammatory conditions, pDC are not found in the skin and are restricted in location to the blood and lymph nodes. Therefore, their role in mucosal and cutaneous herpes simplex virus (HSV) infection has not been well-defined. In this study we show a role for human pDC in the immune response to HSV infection. First, by confocal microscopy we showed that pDC infiltrate the dermis of recurrent genital herpes simplex lesions at early and late phases, often at the dermo-epidermal junction. We then showed that pDC in vitro are resistant to HSV infection despite expressing the entry receptors CD111, CD112, and HVE-A. Within the lesions, pDC were found closely associated with CD3+ lymphocytes and NK cells, especially those which were activated (CD69+). Furthermore, these HSV-exposed pDC were able to stimulate virus-specific autologous T-lymphocyte proliferation. We conclude from this work that pDC may contribute to the immune control of recurrent herpes virus infection in vivo. 相似文献

Spatial synchrony of oscillating populations has been observed in many ecological systems, and its influences and causes have attracted the interest of ecologists. Spatially correlated environmental noises, dispersal, and trophic interactions have been considered as the causes of spatial synchrony. In this study, we develop a spatially structured population model, which is described by coupled-map lattices and incorporates both dispersal and colored environmental noise. A method for generating time series with desired spatial correlation and color is introduced. Then, we use these generated time series to analyze the influence of noise color on synchrony in population dynamics. The noise color refers to the temporal correlation in the time series data of the noise, and is expressed as the degree of (first-order) autocorrelation for autoregressive noise. Patterns of spatial synchrony are considered for stable, periodic and chaotic population dynamics. Numerical simulations verify that environmental noise color has a major influence on the level of synchrony, which depends strongly on how noise is introduced into the model. Furthermore, the influence of noise color also depends on patterns of dispersal between local populations. In addition, the desynchronizing effect of reddened noise is always weaker than that of white noise. From our results, we notice that the role of reddened environmental noise on spatial synchrony should be treated carefully and cautiously, especially for the spatially structured populations linked by dispersal. 相似文献

Background
Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is one of the most common forms of heart disease. Recent studies have shown that interleukin (IL)-8 plays a key role in the development of atherosclerotic plaques, but the relationship between the common genetic variants of IL-8 and ACS has not been extensively studied.Methods
This case-control study in the Chinese Han population included 675 patients with ACS and 636 age- and sex-matched controls. We investigated IL-8 polymorphisms and their association with susceptibility to ACS. The investigation was replicated in the second study comprising 360 cases and 360 control subjects. The plasma concentration of IL-8 was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Results
IL-8 −251 A/T polymorphism was associated with increased susceptibility to ACS (P = 0.004; odds ratio = 1.30; 95% confidence interval: 1.12–1.53). The second study yielded similar results. An increased IL-8 level was found in the plasma of acute myocardial infarction patients, suggesting that IL-8 −251 A/T may affect the expression of IL-8.Conclusion
IL-8 −251 A/T polymorphism is associated with ACS risk in the Chinese Han population and the A allele of IL-8 −251 A/T may be an independent predictive factor for ACS. 相似文献997.
This research was carried on in constructed wetlands of Guan-Ting Reservoir, Beijing, China, from 2004 to 2005. The phytoplankon community was composed of 8 divisions (94 species, including genus and varieties) and the average cell density was 980.93× 104 cells per liter. The dominant divisions were Chlorophyta (36.8%), Bacillariophyta (31.0%) and Cyanophyta (23.4%). The removal rate of phytoplankton density was 72.7%. There was a positive linear correlation between phytoplankon density and total phosphorus. Here, 7 families (13 species) of aquatic vasular plants were found, which constituted emerging and submerging macrophyte communities. In the wetland system, the zooplankton community consisted of Protozoa, Rotifera, Cladocera and Copepoda (70 species). The average density was 4883 individuals per liter. Protozoan and Rotifera were the dominant groups and the removal rate of their density was 81.9%. The correlation between zooplankton and phytoplankton presented a quadratic curve. Also, the zoobenthos community contained Olisochaeta, Uniramia, Crustacea and Mollusca (15 species). The average density was 5670 individuals per m2 (62.3% was Uniramia) and the removal rate of their density was 92.4 %. The wetland system reduced CODMn, BOD5, TN, NH3-N, NO3-N, TP (total phosphor), PO4-P and SS in the water of Yong Ding River at 52.9%–99.1%. 相似文献

The aim of this study is to test the hypothesis that it depends on plant species used in the wetlands and their stubble growth
attributes, as to whether monoculture or mixed wetland is superior in plant growth and nutrient removal. Monoculture and mixed
wetland microcosms of five wetland plant species were studied. Significant differences in growth and aboveground biomass were
found in the monoculture wetlands. Species that showed faster growth and larger biomass in monoculture wetland were also dominant
in the mixed wetland. The mixed wetland exhibited similar biomass and root growth to the averages of five monocultures. ANOVA
showed that there were very significant differences among the wetlands in removal rates of all the nutrients studied except
nitrate nitrogen (NO3-N) and chemical oxygen demand (COD). The removal rates from the mixed wetland were generally comparable to the highest removal
rates from the monocultures. The species exhibited different stubble growth attributes, with some species showing increasing
stubble growth and removal rates, while other species showing decreasing stubble growth and removal rates. The results indicated
that in both monocultures and mixed constructed wetlands, growth and nutrient removal rates depended on plant species, and

This paper reports the observation on the intersubgenomic heterosis for seed yield among hybrids between natural Brassica napus (AnAnCnCn) and a new type of B. napus with introgressions of genomic components of Brassica rapa (ArAr). This B. napus was selected from the progeny of B. napus × B. rapa and (B. napus × B. rapa) × B. rapa based on extensive phenotypic and cytological observation. Among the 129 studied partial intersubgenomic hybrids, which were obtained by randomly crossing 13 lines of the new type of B. napus in F3 or BC1F3 to 27 cultivars of B. napus from different regions as tester lines, about 90% of combinations exceeded the yield of their respective tester lines, whereas about 75% and 25% of combinations surpassed two elite Chinese cultivars, respectively. This strong heterosis was further confirmed by reevaluating 2 out of the 129 combinations in a successive year and by surveying hybrids between 20 lines of the new type of B. napus in BC1F5 and its parental B. napus in two locations. Some DNA segments from B. rapa were identified with significant effects on seed yield and yield components of the new type of B. napus in BC1F5 and intersubgenomic hybrids in positive or negative direction. It seems that the genomic components introgressed from B. rapa contributed to improvement of seed yield of rapeseed. 相似文献

Aging may be a risk factor for type 2 diabetes in the elderly. Dietary intervention can affect glucose tolerance in adults, which may be due to body composition and islet cell autophagy. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of various dietary interventions on islet cell autophagy. Pancreatic tissue and blood samples were collected from Sprague Dawley rats (14–16 months old, n = 15 for each group) that received a normal diet (ND), a high-fat diet (HFD), or a calorie-restricted diet (CRD). The body weight (BW), visceral fat, serum lipid levels, fasting serum glucose, insulin levels, and β/α cell area were determined in 14-16-(0-w), 16-18-(8-w), and 18-20(16-w)-month-old rats. Pancreatic islet autophagy (LC3B and LAMP2), AP (Acid Phosphatase) and apoptosis (apoptosis index, AI (TUNEL assay) and cleaved caspase-3) were detected using immunohistochemistry, ELISA and western blot. At 16 weeks, the expressions of LC3B, LAMP2 and AP markedly increased in both the HFD (P<0.01) and CRD (P<0.05) groups; however, an increase in the AI (P<0.05), cleaved caspase-3 and Beclin1 expression and a decrease in the expressions of BCL2 and BCLXL (P<0.05) were observed in only the HFD group. FFA, triglyceride levels, HOMA-IR, insulin levels and glucagon levels were significantly increased in the HFD group but decreased in the CRD group at 16 weeks (P<0.05). The degree of islet cell autophagy was potentially regulated by the levels of FFA and islet cell insulin and glucagon, which may have been due to the effects of Beclin1/BCL2. 相似文献
