Obese individuals with binge eating disorder (BED) differ from obese non-binge eating (NBE) individuals in a number of clinically relevant ways. This study examined attitudinal responses to various measures of body image in women seeking obesity treatment, by comparing NBE participants (n=80) to those with BED (n=48). It was hypothesized that women with BED would demonstrate greater attitudinal disturbance of body image compared to NBE individuals. It was further hypothesized that significant differences between groups would remain after statistically controlling for degree of depression. Consistent with the primary hypothesis, BED participants reported significantly increased attitudinal disturbance in body dissatisfaction and size perception compared to NBE participants. Although shared variance was observed between measures of depression and body image on some items, several aspects of increased body image disturbance remained after statistically controlling for depression. Treatment implications and recommendations for future research are discussed. 相似文献

Atelocauda koae, a rust of the native HawaiianAcacia koa, is considered as a demicyclic species, having spermogonial, aecial, and telial states, but is unusual in production of aeciospores
simultaneously with teliospores rather than consecutively. Host inoculation with spores of each state separately confirmed
that the life cycle was perpetuated by the telial state, but the aeciospores, while capable of germination and stomal penetration,
did not produce detectable infection. This rust therefore behaves as a microcyclic species, and appears to be in evolutionary
transition toward this reduced state. Teliospores produced vestigial, permanently attached basidiosopores which germinated
to produce infective hyphae. The hyphae entered the host either through stomata or penetrated the epidermis directly, with
the latter method being more common. Unusual nuclear associated with teliospore germination, in which meiosis occurs in more

The full-length vanilla necrosis potyvirus (VNV) coat protein (CP) gene was introduced into Nicotiana benthamiana plants via Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation. Four constructs contained either: sense (+) CP sequence, antisense (-) CP sequence, sense CP sequence with a Kozak's consensus ATG resulting in a change in the first amino acid, or antisense CP sequence with the Kozak's modification. When mechanically inoculated with a high concentration of VNV, one of the plant lines containing the full-length sense CP gene was highly resistant to virus infection. Plants from the resistant lines expressed the CP at a relatively low level compared to susceptible lines containing the same construct. Summary While both 31P and 113Cd are present at locations of interest in many different macromolecular systems, heteronuclear-detected relaxation measurements on these nuclei have been restrained by limitations in either resolution or signal-to-noise ratio. We have developed hetero TOCSY-based methods to overcome both of these problems. Two-dimensional versions of these experiments were utilized to measure 31P T1 and T2 values in DNA oligonucleotides; the additional resolution offered by a second dimension allowed determination of these values for most of the 31P resonances in a DNA dodecamer. The results from the experiments indicated that there was little significant variation in T1 values for the different phosphates in the DNA dodecamer; however, the T2 values showed a clear pattern, with lower values in the interior of the sequence than at the ends of the helix. Furthermore, a significant correlation between 31P chemical shifts and T2 values was observed. One-dimensional, frequency-selective versions of these experiments were also developed for use on systems containing a smaller number of heteronuclear spins. These methods were applied to investigate the heteronuclear relaxation properties of 113Cd in 113Cd2LAC9(61), a Cys6Zn2 DNA-binding domain. Data from the experiments confirm biochemical evidence that more significant differences occur in the metal-protein interactions between the two metal-binding sites than has been previously identified for proteins containing this motif. 相似文献

Dispersed acini from rat pancreas were used to examine the effects of various pancreatic secretagogues on the fine structure of the acinar cell plasma membrane. With the C-terminal octapeptide of cholecystokinin, the C-terminal tetrapeptide of cholecystokinin, carbamylcholine, bombesin, A23187, vasoactive intestinal peptide or 8-bromo cyclic adenosine monophosphate, concentrations of the secretagogues that caused maximal stimulation of enzyme secretion did not produce alterations of the acinar cell plasma membrane. Supramaximal concentrations of the C-terminal octapeptide of cholecystokinin, the C-terminal tetrapeptide of cholecystokinin or carbamylcholine induced the formation of cytoplasmic protrusions at the basolateral plasma membrane of the pancreatic acinar cell, whereas supramaximal concentration of bombesin, A23187, vasoactive intestinal peptide or 8-bromo cyclic AMP did not alter the morphology of the acinar cell. Effects of the C-terminal octapeptide of cholecystokinin could be detected as early as after two minutes of incubation and these effects progressed for up to 30 minutes of incubation. 相似文献

Hydrolysis of proteins and peptides with mercaptoethane sulfonic acid is liable to produce overestimation of the proline content owing to the production of ninhydrin-positive material (probably cysteine) which coelutes with proline on many ion-exchange analytical systems. Acid treatment of (13S)-(9Z,11E)-13-hydroperoxy-9,11-octadecadienoic acid in tetrahydrofuran-water solvent afforded mainly (11R,12R,13S)-(Z)-12,13-epoxy-11-hydroxy-9-octadecenoic acid, diastereomeric (Z)-11,12,13-trihydroxy-9-octadecenoic acids and four isomers of (E)-9,12,13(9,10,13)-trihydroxy-10(11)-octadecenoic acid. Other minor products were oxooctadecadienoic, (E)-9(13)-hydroxy-13(9)-oxo-10(11)-octadecenoic and (E)-12-oxo-10-dodecenoic acids. A heterolytic mechanism for acid catalysis was indicated, even though most of the products characterized also have been observed as a result of homolytic decomposition of the hydroperoxide via an oxy radical. Most of the products found in this study have been observed as metabolites of (13S)-(9Z,11E)-13-hydroperoxy-9,11-octadecadenoic acid in biological systems, and analogous compounds have been reported as metabolites of (12S)-(5Z,8Z,10E, 14Z)-12-hydroperoxy-5,8,10,14-hydroperoxy-5,8,10,14-eicosatetraenoic acid in either blood platelets or lung tissue. 相似文献
