Iron‐ or cobalt‐coordinated heteroatom doped carbons are promising alternatives for Pt‐based cathode catalysts in polymer‐electrolyte fuel cells. Currently, these catalysts are obtained at high temperatures. The reaction conditions complicate the selective and concentrated formation of metal–nitrogen active sites. Herein a mild procedure is introduced, which is conservative toward the carbon support and leads to active‐site formation at low temperatures in a wet‐chemical metal‐coordination step. Active‐site imprinted nitrogen doped carbons are synthesized via ionothermal carbonization employing Lewis‐acidic Mg2+ salt. The obtained carbons with large tubular porosity and imprinted N4 sites lead to very active catalysts with a half‐wave potential (E1/2) of up to 0.76 V versus RHE in acidic electrolyte after coordination with iron. The catalyst shows 4e? selectivity and exceptional stability with a half‐wave potential shift of only 5 mV after 1000 cycles. The X‐ray absorption fine structure as well as the X‐ray absorption near edge structure profiles of the most active catalyst closely match that of iron(II)phthalocyanine, proving the formation of active and stable FeN4 sites at 80 °C. Metal‐coordination with other transition metals reveals that Zn–Nx sites are inactive, while cobalt gives rise to a strong performance increase even at very low concentrations. 相似文献

This study presents a framework linkage map based on microsatellite markers for Muscadinia rotundifolia (1n?=?20). The mapping population consisted of 206 progeny generated from a cross of two M. rotundifolia varieties, 'Fry' and 'Trayshed'. A total of 884 primers were tested for their ability to amplify markers: 686 amplified and 312 simple sequence repeat (SSR) primer pairs generated 322 polymorphic markers for either one or both parents. The map for the female parent 'Fry' consisted of 212 markers and covered 879?cM on 18 chromosomes. The average distance between the markers was 4.1?cM and chromosome 6 was not represented due to a lack of polymorphic markers. The map for the male parent 'Trayshed' consisted of 191 markers and covered 841?cM on 19 chromosomes. The consensus map consisted of 314 markers on 19 chromosomes with a total distance of 1,088?cM, which represented 66?% of the distance covered by the Vitis vinifera reference linkage map. Marker density varied greatly among chromosomes from 5 to 35 mapped markers. Relatively good synteny was observed across 19 chromosomes based on markers in common with the V. vinifera reference map. Extreme segregation distortion was observed for chromosome 8 and 14 on the female parent map, and 4 on the male parent map. The lack of mapping coverage for the 20th M. rotundifolia chromosome is discussed in relation to possible evolutionary events that led to the reduction in chromosome number from 21 to 19 in the ancestral genome. 相似文献

Paeoninol and paeonin C, oligostilbene and monoterpene galactoside, have been isolated from the methanolic extract of the fruits of Paeonia emodi. Their structures have been assigned on the basis of spectral analysis including 1D and 2D NMR techniques. In addition, 4-hydroxybenzoic acid 3, gallic acid 4 and methyl gallate 5 have also been reported for the first time from this species. Compounds 1 and 2 have displayed potent inhibitory potential against enzyme lipoxygenase in a concentration-dependent fashion with the IC(50) values 0.77 and 99.5 microM, along with ABTS(.+) radical quenching activity with IC(50) values of 147.5 and 498.2 microM, respectively. 相似文献

Background
Tibial dyschondroplasia (TD) is a skeletal disease of fast growing chicken and other avian species. It is characterized by an avascular and non-mineralized growth plate, which leads to a deformed tibial bone and lameness. Unfortunately, this disease is not only responsible for causing huge economic losses but also raises animal welfare concerns. Icariin is a flavonoid, which is isolated from Epimedium pubescens herb, and it has been used to cure different diseases including bone fractures and osteoporosis.Results
We designed this experiment to use icariin for the treatment of TD affect chickens; for this purpose, a total of 180 chicks were equally divided into three groups: control, TD and icariin. All the three groups were offered ad libitum same normal standard diet with an addition of thiram (50 mg/kg) from 3rd day to 7th day in TD and icariin group in order to induce TD in chickens. After the induction of TD, the chickens in icariin groups were fed standard diet with an addition of icariin at the rate of 10 mg/kg in drinking water to check the therapeutic effect of this flavonoid on TD. Our results showed that the icariin helped in restoring the TD lesion into a normal structure with significantly (P?<?0.05) up-regulating the bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP-2) expression in the tibial growth plates (GP).Conclusions
Icariin increased the vascular area in the growth plate and decreased the average TD score. In conclusion, this study shows that icariin is a potential compound for the recovery of TD affected chickens via up-regulating the BMP-2 expression without posing a threat of ingestion of toxic veterinary drug residues to human beings upon the consumption of treated chickens.59.

Thiazolidinediones may slow the progression of type 2 diabetes by preserving pancreatic beta-cells. The effects of pioglitazone (PIO) on structure and function of beta-cells in KKA(y), C57BL/6J ob/ob, and C57BL/KsJ db/db mice (genetic models of type 2 diabetes) were examined. ob/ob (n = 7) and db/db (n = 9) mice were randomly assigned to 50-125 mg.kg body wt-1.day-1 of PIO in chow beginning at 6-10 wk of age. Control ob/ob (n = 7) and db/db mice (n = 9) were fed chow without PIO. KKA(y) mice (n = 15) were fed PIO daily at doses of 62-144 mg.kg body wt-1.day-1. Control KKA(y) mice (n = 10) received chow without PIO. Treatment continued until euthanasia at 14-26 wk of age. Blood was collected at baseline (before treatment) and just before euthanasia and was analyzed for glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin, and plasma insulin. Some of the splenic pancreas of each animal was resected and partially sectioned for light or electron microscopy. The remainder of the pancreas was assayed for insulin content. Compared with baseline and control groups, PIO treatment significantly reduced blood glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin levels. Plasma insulin levels decreased significantly in ob/ob mice treated with PIO. All groups treated with PIO exhibited significantly greater beta-cell granulation, evidence of reduced beta-cell stress, and 1.5- to 15-fold higher levels of pancreatic insulin. The data from these studies suggest that comparable effects would be expected to slow the progression of type 2 diabetes, either delaying or possibly preventing progression to an insulin-dependent state. 相似文献

BACKGROUND: Androgen receptor (AR) has emerged as a significant prognostic marker in early breast cancer (BCa). Association of AR with cancer stem cell (CSC) markers in BCa is unknown. Aim of the present study was to evaluate the immunohistochemical expression of AR, CD44, CD24 and ALDH1 in a cohort of Pakistani patients diagnosed with invasive BCa and to correlate the expression with 5- year disease free survival. PATIENTS AND METHODS: We evaluated immunohistochemical expression AR, CD44, CD24 and ALDH1 in formalin fixed paraffin embedded archival blocks of 166 cases of primary invasive BCa (stage I-III) and correlated the expression with clinicopathological variables and outcome using univariable and multivariable analysis. Survival data was computed by Kaplan Meier curves. RESULTS: Expression of AR was observed in 62.7% tumors whereas CD44, CD24 and ALDH1 were expressed in 61.4%, 44% and 30.1% tumors, respectively. AR expression was significantly associated with T1-T2 tumors, lower grade, estrogen and progesterone receptor expression (P < .05) and remained an independent prognostic indicator in multivariable analysis (adjusted HR 0.33, 95% CI 0.13–0.81; P = .016). Significant association was observed between concordant expression of AR and CD24 (P = .001) with a favorable impact on survival (P = .007) whereas expression of CSC phenotypes (CD44+, CD44+/CD24? and ALDH1+) did not correlate with adverse outcome (P > .05). However, AR expression retained the association with better prognosis even in patients whose tumors exhibited a CSC phenotype. CONCLUSIONS: Expression of AR and CD24 in stage I-III invasive BCa correlates with favorable clinicopathological features and delineates a subgroup of patients with better disease-free survival. 相似文献
