A circular slit-groove surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) launcher surrounding a photodetector is employed theoretically to enhance the photocurrent of atypical Si-Ge photodetectors. The slit and grooves are designed such that the SPPs are focused at the center of the absorption layer of the photodetector to result in additional electric current. Fabry–Perot resonance condition accurately calculates the period of the groove, slit-groove distance, photodetector radius, and slit-photodetector distance. The manipulation leads to constructive interference between the incident light impinging from the top and the SPPs propagating toward the photodetector. Simulation result shows that photocurrent increases by approximately 13-fold when the SPPs are introduced. 相似文献

We designed a behavioural paradigm for vibro-tactile detection to characterise the sampling time and performance in the rat whisker sensory system. Rats initiated a trial by nose-poking into an aperture where their whiskers came into contact with two meshes. A continuous nose-poke for a random duration triggered stimulus presentation. Stimuli were a sequence of discrete Gaussian deflections of the mesh that increased in amplitude over time – across 5 conditions, time to maximum amplitude varied from 0.5 to 8 seconds. Rats indicated the detected stimulus by choosing between two reward spouts. Two rats completed more than 500 trials per condition. Rats'' stimulus sampling duration increased and performance dropped with increasing task difficulty. For all conditions the median reaction time was longer for correct trials than incorrect trials. Higher rates of increment in stimulus amplitude resulted in faster rise in performance as a function of stimulus sampling duration. Rats'' behaviour indicated a dynamic stimulus sampling whereby nose-poke was maintained until a stimulus was correctly identified or the rat experienced a false alarm. The perception was then manifested in behaviour after a motor delay. We thus modelled the results with 3 parameters: signal detection, false alarm, and motor delay. The model captured the main features of the data and produced parameter estimates that were biologically plausible and highly similar across the two rats. 相似文献

Copper sulfide and zinc sulfide nanostructures were synthesized using a solvo/hydrothermal method and a thio Schiff base ligand, N‐benzylidene ethanethioamide, as a source of sulfide ions. The effects of different synthesis parameters including the type of solvent, temperature, and duration of reactions on the morphology of the CuS and ZnS products were investigated using field emission scanning microscopy and transmission electron microscopy, respectively. The structural aspects of the samples were characterized using powder X‐ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and energy dispersive X‐ray analysis. The optical properties of the samples were studied through their optical absorption and photoluminescence spectra. Carbon nanotube (CNTs) is a new alternative for efficient drug delivery and it has a great potential to change drug delivery system profile in pharmaceutical industry. One of the important advantage of CNTs is their needle-like, cylindrical shape. This shape provides a high surface area for multiple connections and adsorption onto for millions of therapeutic molecules. CNTs can be internalized by cells via endocytosis, passive diffusion and phagocytosis and release the drug with different effects like pH and temperature. The acidic nature of cancer cells and the susceptibility of CNTs to release the drug in the acidic environment have made it a promising area of research in cancer drug delivery. In this research, we investigated cell viability, cytotoxicity and drug delivery in breast cancer cell line by designing non-covalent single walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT)–doxorubicin (DOX) supramolecular complex that can be developed for cancer therapy. Applied high concentrations of DOX loaded SWNTs changed the actin structure of the cells and prevented the proliferation of the cells. It was showed that doxorubicin loaded SWNTs were more effective than free doxorubicin at relatively small concentrations. Once we applied same procedure for short and long (short: 1–1.3 µm; long: 2.5–4 µm) SWNTs and compared the results, more disrupted cell structure and reduction in cell proliferation were observed for long CNTs. DOX is bounded more to nanotubes in basic medium, less bound in acidic environment. Cancer cells were also examined for concentration at which they were effective by applying DOX and it was seen that 3.68 µM doxorubicin kills more than 55% of the cells. 相似文献

Chrysoperla carnea (Steph.) is a general predator reared in industrial scale. Different eggs of moth were used to rear C. carnea, but stabled moth colony needed expensive equipment and is costly. In this research, we surveyed appropriate diet to mass rearing. For this purpose, 100 same old (24H) eggs of C. carnea, separately, were selected randomly from the mass culture of C. carnea which was reared on the egg of flour moth Anagasta kuehniella (Zeller), artificial diet and semi-artificial diet under laboratory conditions (25 ± 5°C, 65 ± 5% RH and L–D: 16–8). These results showed reduction process ex (expectation of life table at age X) and the survival curve was convex (K-Strategy). Also Lx in appearing of adults that fed on egg of flour moth, artificial diet and semi-artificial diet were 0.76, 0.4 and 0.9 which implied that 24, 60 and 10% of cohort were dead before reaching adult stage. Eggs produced by each female were recorded daily until all females died. The parameters were estimated using Carey’s (1993) method. Gross (GRR) and net (R0) reproductive rates of predator on A. kuehniella, artificial diet and semi artificial diets were 225.5 ± 3.45, 72.4 ± 3.5, 267.8 ± 4.8 and 180.12 ± 2.3, 24.33 ± 4.3, 254.05+3.3 (female/female/generation), respectively. Mean generation time (T), Doubling time (DT), Intrinsic rate of increase (rm ) and Finite rate of increase (λ) of predator on A. kuehniella, artificial diet and semi artificial diet were 31.9 ± 0.71, 42.87 ± 0.45, 29.79 ± 0.57 (days); 4.27 ± 0.03, 9.36 ± 0.06, 3.74 ± 0.05 (days); 0.162 ± 0.001, 0.074 ± 0.003, 1.185 ± 0.002; and 1.175 ± 0.001, 1.076 ± 0.002, 1.203 ± 0.002 (female/female/day), respectively. Bacillus pumilus SG2 isolated from high salinity ecosystem in Iran produces two chitinases (ChiS and ChiL) and secretes them into the medium. In this study, chiS and chiL genes were cloned in pQE-30 expression vector and were expressed in the cytoplasm of Escherichia coli strain M15. The recombinant proteins were purified using Ni-NTA column. The optimum pH and optimum temperature for enzyme activity of ChiS were pH 6, 50°C; those of ChiL were pH 6.5, 40°C. The purified chitinases showed antifungal activity against Fusarium graminearum, Rhizoctonia solani, Magnaporthe grisea, Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, Trichoderma reesei, Botrytis cinerea and Bipolaris sp. Moreover, purified ChiS was identified as chitinase/lysozyme, which are capable of degrading the chitin component of fungal cell walls and the peptidoglycan component of cell walls with many kinds of bacteria (Xanthomonas translucens pv. hordei, Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. citri, Bacillus licheniformis, E. coli C600, E. coli TOP10, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Pseudomonas putida). Strong homology was found between the three-dimensional structures of ChiS and a chitinase/lysozyme from Bacillus circulans WL-12. The aim of the study was a cross-cultural comparison of personality traits between individuals from two very different cultures and refugees who resettled several years before from one to the other. Four hundred forty four Swedish individuals of the normal population; and 100 Iranian refugees in Sweden, and a group of 335 individuals from Tehran, capital of Iran, were investigated by means of the Temperament and Character Inventory, a questionnaire to assess temperament and character Iranians are those that are most frequently correctly classified followed by the Swedish based on temperament scores by means of a Discriminance analyses. Iranian refugees in Sweden were classified to about 50 per cent as Swedish and to slightly more then one-third as Iranians. Especially concerning character, 4 per cent only could be correctly classified as refugees. The results give some perspective on the adaptation process and personality changes in refugees several years after resettlement in another country with a complete different culture. 相似文献
